Short, light, early period... or implantation bleeding?

About 12-13 dpo I noticed faint pink spotting, over the next 24 hours that turned to red and a light-medium flow which disappeared the next day. In total maybe 36 hours passed from spotting to bleeding to nothing. I expected my period at 14 dpo so this 'flow' was done right about then. I took a pregnancy test that morning at 14 dpo and it was negative. Was this my period or perhaps implantation bleeding? I am so confused, my AF is never less than 3 full days of bleeding.

Implantation bleeding is a vaginal discharge of blood during the early stages of pregnancy, when the fertilized egg implants to the uterus. Implantation is defined as the attachment of the fertilized egg (a cluster of cells called blastocyst) to the lining of the uterus. Implantation bleeding, on the other hand, will typically appear either more pinkish or with a dark brown color. The dark brown, almost rust, color, looks as if the blood is aged more than the brighter, red color. Additionally, some women experience thicker clotting blood in their monthly flow. Since implantation bleeding is a symptom that can often occur before you test positive on a pregnancy test, it can be hard to know whether light bleeding is an early sign of pregnancy or just normal spotting leading up to your period. And unfortunately, there’s no conclusive way to find out. The best way to know whether you’re pregnant or not is to wait a few more days and take a pregnancy test. The timing of when you last had sex might also help you figure it out: If it’s been more than two weeks, it’s unlikely that any spotting you're having is implantation bleeding.
