Early Pregnancy Symptoms and Big Fat Positives

BFP after Laparoscopy

Finally got that elusive BFP after laparoscopy? Tell us about it! Send us your symptoms through this contact form.

Gave up hope, planned trip, bought puppy then... BFP!

To all those who have lost hope, I've had three laporoscopies for Endo with the last (one year ago) finding multiple cysts on my ovaries. We have been carefree for four years and actively trying for two and a half and were on the public wait list for IVF after giving up any chance of falling naturally. In hindsight I guess there were a few symptoms early on. I had one day where I was EXTREMELY gassy - like to the point that I no longer wanted to be around myself! Luckily I was working alone! Then I had what I now know to be implantation bleeding which at the time looked more like pre-menstrual spotting, like a light brown discharge, only it didn't continue past that day. I was and have been since about 4 weeks feeling dizzy every time I stand up and need to pee ALL the time. With that I'm mega thirsty all the time too which is new for me. People commented that I was moodier than usual at 4 weeks and I had a day of teenage-like acne. I didn't find out till 5 weeks though. I only tested to confirm my period was on it's way as my pre-menstrual breast cyst had flared up and I had a pregnancy test leftover from my ttc days. Such a shock! Now 5w 4d. No symptoms other than slightly PMS feeling boobs now and then, frequent peeing and dizziness. Not a hint of nausea though but it's early days. Anyway - good luck ladies - we are just in disbelief after all the pain of trying. Our first BFP after all these years!

Finally a BFP with gonadotropins

My husband and I conceived our first born 3 years ago without much trouble. 3 months after stopping birth control pill I was pregnant so 18 months ago when we decided to try again for bub number 2 I didn't think it would be difficult. I was wrong. I've always had a longer cycle of about 6 weeks and we are getting older. I heard that if you don't conceive after 6 months from 35 (i'm 36 & hubby is 38) onwards you should seek help. So of to the gp I went and that was just the beginning of the waiting game. It took 4 months to get a referral to a gynae then we had to do 3 tracking cycles which showed I ovualte late. We then tried two rounds of clomid which made my uterine lining too thin for implantation. After a break for christmas and waiting again I had a lap & dye to check for any tube blockages and other possible problems and got the all clear but the dr confirmed, as she had expected, PCOS. I had to wait again before we could start the next step which was low dose gonadotropin injections & timed intercourse. The first one failed due to a thin lining but here we are with a BFP after our second round. I've had so many let downs in the two week wait when I thought it had happened but it hadn't I didn't want to get my hopes up. I had been taking a hpt to prep myself for another fail but a faint line appeared. I still wasn't convinced as I had a trigger shot to induce ovulation and this contains hcg so can give a false positive but the following day (12 dpo) it was still positive and darker than before. I went for blood that day which confirmed I'm pregnant! I really didn't have any pregnancy symptoms but I noticed that I wasn't getting salt cravings or higher sex drive like I usually do before a period so to those without any signs there is still hope! The month I got pregnant I used everything. Presseed lube, evening primrose oil and cough syrup to thin mucus, no caffeine, Vitamin E to boost lining and I tried to have fruit and veg at every meal especially green leafy veggies. Who knows what did it in the end but I'm just so happy we finally made it here. I'm hoping and praying that the next 9 months goes smoothly.

BFP month after laparoscopy and hysteroscopy

1st bfp 07/2012, mc 5 weeks. Then took 3 cycles clomid. Switched docs and new doc suspected polyp and endometriosis might be problem. Had laparoscopy and hysteroscopy on 01/16/14. Doc removed polyp and endometriosis. Was diagnosed with mild endo. Menstrual cycle started 01/18/14. Ovulated cd 20. On 2/19/14 had bad cramps and bit of pinkish blood followed by brown spotting. Thought it was af but full flow never came. Got curious and took test two days later 02/21/14. Got bfp! Me 36 yoa, Dh 32. Good luck gals. Sometimes the journey is way longer than expected but don't lose hope! Baby dust to you all!

After Four Years, Finally!

I honestly cannot believe after four years of trying to conceive I am finally able to post here! When we first started trying I got pregnant right away and miscarried at eight weeks, after that, I have not been able to get pregnant. Two years ago we started seeing an RE, sporadically as we moved several times and I kept having to switch doctors. In December of last year I was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve and was told I would not be able to get pregnant without IVF. We did a laparoscopy surgery mid January to remove scar tissue and polyps on my uterus. We were saving our money and planning IVF for June and decided we would just try naturally for the next few months. I got a two day period a few days after my laparoscopy and ovulated 12 days later. Today at 9dpo, a positive pregnancy test! It's light, but definitely there and definitely pink! I am a nervous wreck and praying that this one will stick! After hoping and praying for so many years it is unbelievable to see two lines. Symptoms so far: started at six days past ovulation: Sore throat, cramping, tired feeling, insomnia, headache, some nausea today after eating breakfast. That's it so far! I truly hope everyone that is struggling to conceive gets their BFP one day!

Finally It Happened. :)

Hi all, I have been reading through this website for almost a year and half now. This website has been giving me support and courage to hang in there and has given inspiration with numerous stories. This website is really helped in so many ways. thanks to all the ladies :)) So here goes my story, I have had one laparoscopy and two hysteroscopy before we started trying. 1st IVF cycle -retrieved 14 eggs, 6 mature, all of them fertilized naturally and 2 of them made it to day 5 and only one blast was transferred and one frozen. Tested - BFN 1st frozen embryo transfer - turned out negative (medicated cycle LUPRON, estrogen patches and progesterone injections ) 2nd IVF cycle - retrieved 30 eggs, 11 of them mature, 4 made it to day 5, One blast was transferred and 3 frozen. - Tested BFN 2nd Frozen embryo transfer - thawed 3 embryos to get two good embryos to transfer. Prayed to God day in and day out! (this cycle was a natural cycle, no medicines except progesterone oral tablet) My Doctor also did endometrial biopsy , because it is believed that it would help with embryo implantation. which worked out perfect for me. I tested on 6dp5dt and saw two lines show up immediately :)) I was in tears and so was my husband :))) only symptoms I had was 1)Back ache every now and then 2)5dp5dt I was feeling a little nausea by the end of the day 3)Otherwise I was feeling like my periods are going to start any moment. I have blood test scheduled this friday. Hope HCG doubles every 2 days :)) You just have to believe from within. It will eventually happen to you as well. Loads of “baby dust” to all.

BFP by TIG (Things I Googled)

Yesterday was the best day of my life. TTC for 14 long months with no luck. Until a wet and dreary Monday morning turned into a day I will never forget. Beyond happy to be sharing my story and wish all of you all the luck in the world with your journey. It can feel so lonely at times, the not knowing if it will ever happen can drive you mad. It helped me to know that I was in the company of TWW friends. Sorry this is long - hope it doesn't bore you! Me, 33, always had brown spotting from CD22 to CD29 followed by AF. FSH 9 ("borderline high"), AMH 9.4. Him, 33, two SAs low motility on one, the other was fine. Love of my life since 1995 (we sat next to each other in maths). No prior pregnancies. Started TTC Dec 2012. Tried for six months and nothing, so spent the next 6 months having blood tests, HSG etc and trying to get a referral to the Assisted Conception Unit. No one (GP, nurses etc) were concerned about my spotting. Finally got to see a consultant in Nov 2013 and he listened about my spotting and immediately said 'that's not normal'. He booked me in for a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy. Operated on 19th Dec (CD20), 2 and a half hours spent treating severe endo - including on the surface of both ovaries. Doc hopeful I'd conceive naturally within 4-6 months. That hope made me cry because it gave me mine back. We started trying again as soon as my next ovulation time came around. My CD dates were a bit off because I bled quite a bit after surgery and this went on through my next AF. I counted 28th Dec as CD1. Things that were different this month: didn't notice my usual EWCM, nipples didn't get sore around O day, boobs didn't feel fuller until much later in my cycle. BFP by TIG CD1-20 - How long did it take for a BFP after laparoscopy & treatment for severe endo? - Endo on ovary surfaces and effect on ovulation - Pregnant after endo treatment - Window for pregnancy following endo diathermal ablation And so on. CD 22 [Well, no spotting - this is good news! The treatment must have worked! When will I O next cycle?] CD 24 - Metal taste in mouth and pregnancy [I'm wondering about this but have had it before] BFN on Boots own test. CD27 - Sore side boobs and pregnancy BFN on CB Digital with conception indicator. [Ahh man. I'm out. This is meant to pick up 4 days before AF is due.. I'm thinking AF is due tomorrow or the next day] CD28 - Can endo treatment cause periods to stop? - Can endo treatment stop ovulation? [Where is AF?! Hubby buys more tests on my request and I say I'll test in a couple of days to avoid that too familiar disappointment. My cycles have been longer than this.] CD 29 - Periods stopping after endo treatment? - Can endo treatment affect periods? [Panicking - is this is another set back!] - Causes of anovulation [Test and get what I think is a BFP squinter!!! Don't wake hubby as can't get excited over what looks like a smudge! Test again, defo some sort of shadow] - Sensitivity of Sainsbury's pregnancy tests? - Evap lines on blue line pregnancy tests - False positives on Sainsbury pregnancy tests [Buy FRER and a pot to pee in. Test in work toilet. There's definitely a faint line!] - First Response sensitivity - Expected due dates if LMP was 28th Dec 2013 [Get home and test on another CB Digi - BFP 1-2 weeks!! Instigate playful argument about whose turn it is to cook. Mine apparently. 'But how will I grow baby with no dinner?'. I handed him the test and we laughed and cried a little bit. And here we are. Happy, scared, still Googling everything, hoping and praying our baby stays put. Enjoying our BFP and taking things one day at a time. Baby dust to you all :) Don't give up.

God + Clomid =BFP

I have been reading these BFP stories and they have given me hope in my time of sadness and depression. Thank you ladies. I am 27 and for the most part had irregular and painful periods. I went on bc pills to regularize it and reduce extreme cramps. It worked but my cycles kept getting shorter and shorter, so I came off. No bc pills, regular periods but no pregnancy. In total, I was actively trying to conceive for five years, in the latter part of the third year of trying, I was sent for an HSG. It was discovered that my right tube was blocked as the dye couldn’t pass through (the examination was very painful at this point). So I was scheduled for a lap surgery in the year of 2012. It was successful and I decided that I would wait a year to try again, because I wanted to finish up grad school. I restarted in March of 2013 and I kept getting negatives. So I went back to my gynae for a checkup, where he scheduled me for another HSG. Surprisingly, it wasn’t as painful as the first time, I figured because my tubes were clear. The dye went through and I was diagnosed as NORMAL. I brought the results to my gynae and he said “well it seems you may not be ovulating the way you should” so he prescribed clomid 50 on cycle day 2-6. AF came December 22 (but DH was a little disappointed on Christmas night) and I started clomid on the 23, I was in high spirits (couldn’t wait for the days to count down and be gone with). I was feeling extremely happy when the week ran off, then came some serious headaches, extremely high body temp (not ovulation), crazy dreams. Ovulated on January 3, 2014, BD every night from Dec 30 til Jan 2, DH was tired, so he rested and we BD on the 5th. I started getting paranoid, though I knew that a male’s sperm can last for up to five days inside. Then here come cramps and more weird dreams. I didn’t log my symptoms (thought it would be bad luck, but I mentally kept a log). So this is what I mentally recorded: 1-3 DPO Felt normal but felt like I pulled a muscle in my lower abdomen 4 DPO Cramping (thought crap! AF is out to get me early this month….started to worry that clomid had changed my somewhat normal cycle) 5 DPO Extreme cramping and couldn’t sleep on my sides and DH really worried. 6 DPO Severe cramping thought that AF was coming for sure (felt like my first menstrual period). 7 DPO Extreme headache, severe cramping, tender boobs, extremely tired (definitely not me, I’m like an energizer bunny) and angry at DH (again not me). 8 DPO Extreme cramping, headache subsides, tired, bloated (thinking yup definitely AF, but praying it wasn’t) 9 DPO Same as 8DPO but decided to do a home pregnancy test BFN (:-( was definitely thinking I had missed my chance and would have to go again the next month) 10- 13 DPO Same as 8DPO and decided not to test again and just wait for AF take over (extremely depressed, couldn’t even find the courage to read any more BFP stories). That night I prayed even harder for a New Year’s and birthday gift that I longed for. 14 DPO (Jan 17, 2014) Extreme cramping, bloated and decided to do a home pregnancy test again (though I said I wouldn’t). Watched as the control line came up and no test line, I burst into tears asking God why this again…….then, is that a line, a very faint test line? I decided not to read into it. I showered for work and after showering I looked again. It was definitely a faint line, so I thought to myself what a weird, twisted joke if the test was invalid. I went through work with the faint line on my mind. Later that evening I grabbed about five more pregnancy tests and headed home. I made sure I skipped a few times I had to go. Sure enough when I reached home and did the first one, the line was still faint but darker…..yup confirmed it my BFP!!!!!!! Did two the next day, one in the morning and one in the evening and was praying the whole time not to see the negative that I am used to. It’s now the 19th of January and my last test lines have gotten darker. It feels so good and God answered my prayer when I least expected it. I’m due for an appointment on Tues January 21 for my blood test to officially confirm that I am indeed on my way to becoming a mummy :-)I will definitely keep you all posted. To each and every one trying to get their BFP, there are going to be times when you’re really depressed and you feel you are the only one out there not getting the chance to carry a baby while everyone else is having babies, but God will give you yours in due time. You have to become strong, be patient and be positive. It happened for me on the first try with clomid and DH and I are beyond happiness. KEEP TRYING ladies!!!!! I hope my little bean sticks and BABY DUST TO ALL!!!!!! P.S. Sorry for such a long BFP story but I wanted to share everything and I want to read more BFP stories.

BFP w/ Endo, Low AMH, first IVF - There's Hope!!!

Hi Everyone, I can't believe I am here writing my BFP story. I pray you will all be able to write one as well. I was diagnosed by laparoscopy with Stage 2 endo in July. I also found out my AMH was 0.16. After 3 failed IUIs, my husband and I decided to move onto IVF. Thankfully, our insurance covers the first four. After weeks of meds, I wound up with two eggs (I used to say ONLY two eggs, but I realized two is better than one or none!) Thankfully, through prayer, both eggs fertilized and grew nicely. Both were transferred on 12/14/13. My husband and I found out today, 12/26/13, that we are pregnant! We could have twins, but of course would be happy with whatever God's plan for us is. Please do not give up hope. My Dr. was going to cancel my cycle because of my poor response and I'm so glad he didn't. You just need to pray and have faith. Read Jeremiah 29:11, Philippians 4:6-7, Proverbs 3:5 and Matthew 10:27. These verses really helped me. I did ask for a lot of prayer and God has generously given us a miracle! You need to remember that things happen on His time and not ours. I used to think I could control getting pregnant - temping, charting, OPK, etc. All I had to do was leave it up to God and give it all to Him. We can't see the big picture. I know someone who had to go through three IVFs. I'm sure her heart was breaking during the first two, and now she has two beautiful twins. She sees God's plan now. Don't give up hope. I never thought I'd see a positive pregnancy test. Just keep praying! Thinking of you all and hoping you will be able to join me in writing a BFP story soon :)

IVF BFP and 4 Natural BFP Afterwards

At 23 years, young and happily married for a year we started TTC... after a year we acknowledged the fact that we needed help! It wasn't easy since I was young and they wouldn't listen to us, but I was soooo sure that something was terribly wrong. After 6 months of visiting different doctors we were told I had a severe endometriosis but since I was young I should still try to conceive naturally. 4 months later the pain was so big I had a 4 hour lap!!!! I had terrible damage inside every imaginable reproductive organ and everything around them! We were immediately started on stims. We had 3 stim rounds - BFN in each of them then I got cysts so I had to wait again! We had then 3 rounds IUI - BFNs again After a 6 month wait we finally decided to try IVF. I was 26 and my DH 30. We finally got our BFP!!!!!!! I delivered a healthy 39 week boy who is 9 now. When he was 10 months and I was breastfeeding only once a day we learnt we were pregnant again! 2 BFP and naturally! Best surprise ever 11 months later I was pregnant again but had a miscarriage. 1 month after the m/c I got pregnant again naturally! My 3rd boy is now nearly 6 2 years 4 months later we tried for a girl, and then she came, the first month we tried we got a BFP. She is 3 and half. I was breastfeeding 6 times a day and she was 6 when we learned I was pregnant for the 5th time! Me 5th girl is 27 months now and we have a huge huge family. I was recently diagnosed, at 35, with DOR do to my severe endo. So, what I'm trying to tell you is that it's never too early and you're never too young to take care of fertility issues since our fertility spam is really SHORT and reproductive organs are so easily damaged. But I'm also willing to let you all know that its always possible, it may look terribly depressing (and it is)...BUT, you can have a BFP!!! Baby dust to you all struggling with endo!
