BFP Stories

Early Pregnancy Symptoms and Big Fat Positives

BFP by DPO

The BFP by DPO is hands down my favorite kind of BFP story. It unfolds slowly, like a tulip in the spring - a new symptom appearing with each passing day… constipation on Tuesday, tingling boobs on Wednesday…. Ah, the poetry of it all!

We’d love for you to send – nay, we simply MUST HAVE – your BFP by DPO story, assuming you were detail-oriented (nice euphemism, huh?) enough to record your symptoms on a daily basis.

So all you BFP by DPO’ers – we want to hear from you! Send us your story, blow by blow, through this contact form.

2 months TTC

Hello Ladies!
I am so blessed to report that after only two months of TTC, I got my BFP on 9DPO (faint positives starting 7DPO)!

Here is my background information- 28 years old, no family history of infertility but my mom did miscarry at 12 weeks between her 2 successful pregnancies.

I used period tracker app for 2 years before trying so I knew my cycle length (25 days). I used the OVIA app while TTC. It incorrectly predicted my fertile window, so it's a good thing I was using OPK's! I ovulate late around CD 14-15 and have a short luteal phase (10-11 days MAX)

Fertile window for me was CD 10-15, We BD on CD 12, 13, 14, 15 & 16. I'm pretty sure I O'd on CD 15.

Now on to the good stuff:

1DPO- EWCM *BD today

2DPO- Gas in the evening

3DPO- Slept 9 hours the night before, fatigue, Vivid dream, thick yellow CM, runny nose

4DPO- Vivid dreams (Very emotional dreams, which is something I've never experience before), Mild teeth sensitivity, yellow CM, increased appetite, Sore nipples (This is a symptom that made me really hopeful, as my nipples are never sore during PMS)

5DPO- Yellow CM, Minor cramps, Sore Nipples, Pimples on chest and back appeared, Bloating

6DPO- Yellow CM, Minor cramps, Sore Nipples, Heavy/tender breasts, Emotional

7DPO- Slept 9 hours night before, Vivid dream (Again, involving high emotions), 3 BM's before 2pm, Sore nipples, yellow cm.

I took my first HPT with FMU on 7DPO (4 days before AF) I was in a rush and didn't examine the results fully. It wasn't until my lunch break that I took a look and saw a very very faint positive! I know the test dye could have bled, so I took another HPT in the evening and sure enough, very faint positive.

8DPO- This is the morning I knew I was pregnant for sure. I went to bed the night before around 1am and woke up at 7am with TONS of energy. Felt like I could run a marathon. I should mention this was a Saturday, a day that I usually relax in bed until 10am. HPT with FMU and a faint positive (stronger line than the night before). Around 5pm I started having weird cramps...Not anything like PMS cramps. Almost like what I would imagine a small contraction would feel like. It felt like my uterus was expanding from all sides. It lasted for about 45 seconds. Little cramps followed, but nothing with that kind of distinct feeling. Light brown CM.

9DPO- HPT with FMU. Even stronger line than day before. Still not getting a BFP. I went and purchased clear blue digital (To get my "PREGNANT" result clear as day). I couldn't wait for the next morning, so I took my test around 7pm. It took 3 minutes to appear, but I got my BFP. For some reason it wasn't real to me and my husband until then!

Baby dust to all of you ladies out there!

BFP at 12 DPO - Letrozole

Long time coming! Please keep the faith and trust in God. I am amazed and grateful. My husband and I have been trying over 15 months. We've never prevented in 7 years. I did have 2 fibroids removed in 2012 (8cm and 9cm). I had a D&C in 2015 due heavy bleeding polyps were found. I refused birth control and started using fertility blend to regulate my cycle. It helped.

On May 2nd approx 3 weeks ago, I went to the RE because it had been well over a year. We explained we had HSG, sperm analysis, and we've been using OPK's. All came back normal but we are coming to him because we still weren't pregnant.

My RE said it would be likely that I needed IVF due to the scare tissue left after the 2012 surgery; however he was willing to try letrozole and timed intercourse then letrozole and IUI if necessary. In addition to letrozole, he told me to take prenatal vitamin, Co-Q10, alpha lip pic acid, B-Complex, DHEA, and vitamin D (9 pills/day).

I took letrozole cycle day 9-11. I had a positive OPK on cycle day 15 (hard painful cramping). I ovulated on cycle day 16. My RE told me to wait until cycle day 22 to test but I felt uneasy and my tummy had a tight cramp-like feeling. I decided to test cycle day 22 (11 DPO) I had one faint positive on FRER, two faint positives on First Signal, and 1 faint positive on Dollar Tree all between (7pm-9pm). It showed up in 3 minutes.

I tested again at 2am. Two more faint positives. Then at 9am I decided to use the CB digital advance. I was patient but nervous. I told my husband as soon as it popped up.

1-7 DPO no symptoms that I can truly note

8-9 DPO hot flashes, fatigue, dreams, and cramps

10 DPO cramps, gas, fatigue and exhaustion

11 DPO faint positives on 5 test, cramps, acid reflux, tiredness, pressure in uterus.

12 DPO cramps, heavy pulling feeling in uterus, faint positives on walmart brand, dollar tree, and then positive on CB ADVANCE DIGITAL. I saved the CB Digital test for months with hopes of using it.

My RE also prescribed progesterone (once positive test confirmed) to thicken my endometrium. Twice per day 200mg.

I hope this gives you hope. It was a struggle. We thought we would have to pay for IUI's and then eventually IVF. We pray for this child and I ask God to help me through this pregnancy.

~God Bless~

BFP at 9dpo while breastfeeding!

DH (28) and I (26) had been TTC baby #2 for nine months. DD1 (aged 2) was conceived the first month we tried. It was not so easy this time.

My cycles are normally 31 days long. I had a chemical pregnancy in cycle #2 at 5 weeks, and another in cycle #4 that ended at 6 weeks. I knew something wasn't right both times as I had no symptoms and late BFP'S.

CD 15 - BD with Preseed (only time!)
CD 16 - Positive OPK
CD 17 - (DPO 1) Nausea, from ovulation sickness (normal)
DPO 2-4- Nothing
DPO 5 - Felt constantly hungry today
DPO 6 - Woke up in the night feeling feverish. Had 8 hours sleep but feeling exhausted. Mild cramps that felt like gas. Vivid dreams.
DPO 7 - Nauseous and hungry. Smudge on two internet cheapies, seen enough blank ones to know something's happening! Feeling stretching in abdomen. Trying not to get hopes up. Vivid dreams.
DPO 8 - Very tired. Got 3 evaps on internet cheapie, definitely no pink there. Breastfeeding my toddler has become a little painful. Vivid dreams.
DPO 9 - Faint but instant BFP on internet cheapie! Still have sensitive nipples, hunger and fatigue.

So if you're getting a lot of evaporation lines it may be your lucky month!
I hope all goes well with this little poppy seed and that it won't end in another chemical...

42 and after 5 years a BFP with several faint positive

I swear the first five days those positives kept jumping at me I would insist on tweaking, messing with lighting. Surely it's an evaporation line.
Amazingly every single dollar store test would turn positive after the 10 mark time and I discounted that until I read a few posts about how many women got pregnant and same scenerio. Thought the test was negative, threw it out, dug it out and a positive.
But I still didn't believe it. It's been 5 years of this TWW stuff I'm in pregnancy denial maybe?
Well tonight I said enough with these dollar tests and spent 16.99 on a two pack of FRER'S. Didn't need more than four seconds for that second line and then I went total mental usual suspects mode analyzing every damn test I'd been staring at on my phone and put it together like a puzzle. YOU ARE PREGNANT WOMAN!! STOP PEEING ON THINGS.
So here I sit. With the following obvious signs I had for a week that I've blown off
6dpo sharp dip in my BBT chart. This was my very first month temping and using preseed and softcup.
Also my second month on vitex.
7dpo headache. Way sore girls. They did not want to be caged, free the boobies! Such a sharp pain I went down to the floor and had to take something. Felt like my uterus was falling out. So much pressure
8 dpo first positive (I convinced myself was negative because you know....the time frame thing
9dpo fell asleep at 3 pm woke at 6 went back to sleep at 8 and didn't get up until 5 am the next morning
10 dpo. What is this crap??? Why does my coffee taste like butter? Searched the fridge to find the smell that I kept getting a whiff of at every pass to the bathroom. Found it! Open bag of broccoli in the vegetable bin. How the heck did I not know this was a huge sign?
Skipped testing this day and tweaked old tests I have officially peed on all the things !!

11dpo damn you dollar tree, I'm on my way. Af cramps. Maybe I'm wasting my time. Bope, I'm going. 10 in hand. Lady at the counter started to make a joke and I looked at her with the stare of pure evil so she knew not to go there. I have been holding my wee for 1 hour lady this is not ok.
Hmmmm a bit snappy today. The perfume from the lady behind the counter at dunkin donuts attached itself to my cup and I had to throw it out because I couod smell that perfume everywhere.
Pink line after 30 minutes and dollar tree test dried ON 3 tests!. Must be me being hopeful.
12 dpo AF cramps for about an hour again. Left side. Dull headache and falling asleep on the phone.
Scratch cottage cheese and tomatoes off my grocery list. All I want is cereal.
Another line same time frame and density as the previous 4 days. Never ever seen color on an evap line and trust me I've peed on A LOT of things in these 5 years. I've even Googled sugar tests, all the DIY tests that BTW do not work.
These evaps must be a bad batch.
13 dpo. Today. Stitch feelings are precisely the perfect term for what I'm feeling on the left lower pelvic area. Almost in the hip.
Definitely a pink line after staring at a test for two hours on my phone. I'm convinced. Completely talked to myself driving to the store to get a frer and thought nothing of it until I got out of my jeep.
It seriously was like the end of the usual suspects. All the lines. The pink evaps. The tests. The dollar store trips. The hold. Oh I hate the hold. Is this for real?
I had already went to the restroom before I went to the store so that was less than 20 min. Who cares!!! I've got two and I need to pee on something and analyze the heck out of it.
And there it was. My Beautiful moment. Clear as day.
Omgosh I haven't had a baby in 19 years!!!! If I can't pee on things I must start planning.
I put a collection together for you all to see all the tests that were indeed positive
Still having the stich feeling. It's very obvious
Sore girls but not too bad.
Headaches and no pimples were a huge sign for me as well.
Wishing everyone loads of baby dust. It will happen. I have a 26 -28 day cycle 2 grown boys one with severe disability and all I can do is smile.

BFP after miscarriage

I am 24 and my husband is 30. We have a 17 month old daughter and around the time she turned one we were ready to start trying for our second. I had a missed miscarriage before I conceived my daughter and it took 9 months after that to then get pregnant with her. I have LONG 40-43 day cycles and I was recently diagnosed with polycistic ovaries. The positives were that I do ovulate on my own despite the long cycles and I have one healthy baby that I carried to term. We started trying for our second in December and in March I fell pregnant but miscarried the day after I had a positive test. I was feeling pretty discouraged as that was now my second miscarriage and my cycles are so long. In May I went to see a fertility specialists to pick his brain and get down to the reason of my long cycles. An ultrasound showed my ovaries were very polycistic. He said this would be causing my long cycles and could be the potential reason for my miscarriages. I am not overweight and I don't have any other PCOS symptoms. I happened to be around the time of ovulation and the scan showed I had one very ripe follicle at 18mm so I was feeling optimistic. He wanted me to come back two days later to check and see if it got any bigger or if it was just a cyst. I went back and it was then 22mm so he gave me a trigger hcg shot right then and two days later on May 6th I ovulated (verified by ovulation cramps on my right side which is where the scan showed the follicle.)

May 4th: HCG trigger 400ml
May 6th: Ovulation day
We had sex on May 2, 4, 5, and 6 using pre-seed which I also used when I conceived my daughter.
Took progesterone suppositories from 3 DPO-still taking

1 DPO: Creamy CM, Minor backache, bloated, gassy, tired, skin breakout.
2 DPO: Creamy CM, Backache, bloated
3 DPO: Creamy CM, Backache, bloated
4 DPO: Creamy CM, Bloated, Feeling down because no real symptoms and I thought I was for sure not pregnant
5 DPO: Creamy CM, Bloated
6 DPO: Creamy CM, Backache for a very short period of time, bloated, slightly nauseous in the car but probably just car sick
7 DPO: Creamy CM, Bloated, Still bummed and feel completely normal.
8 DPO: Creamy CM, Bloated, Skin breakout, fatigue (probably from the progesterone)
9 DPO: Creamy CM, Bloated
10 DPO: Creamy CM, Bloated, Fatigue, slightly tender breasts, Still feeling out this cycle.
11 DPO: Creamy Cm, Bloated
12 DPO: Creamy CM, Bloated, Decided to take a test with FMU so I could see the negative and get past the disappointment of the cycle. The test turned positive almost immediately. BFP! Shocked. Least amount of symptoms I have had on a BFP cycle. The test was a very noticeable line but not a dark positive yet. Still a little nervous but hoping the test is darker in a few days when I take another.

Trying to conceive is a complete emotional rollercoaster. Stay optimistic even if you don't feel pregnant at all!

BFP - Irregular cycles

I've always had irregular cycles throughout my life since I've started my period. Previously I've had cycles that are about 50+ days long. However from end of 2015 to September 2016 I've had 33-37 days cycle which was amazing for me because they're somewhat consistent. From September to December 2016 I never got my period & after many pregnancy tests it was always negative. I saw my GP who suspected that I had PCOS as I have irregular cycles & now they've stopped. I was absolutely devasted as my partner & I were going to start trying for a baby come 2017. I was blood tested and had a ultrasound and was NOT diagnosed with PCOS. As a result of this they just told me I had 'longer' cycles that anyone else & therefore may take longer to conceive (this was in March 2017 when I was given the results of my ultrasound that I had in Feb). However I did get my period in January 2017.

So my cycles since they started were 40 & 49 days long. This is my third cycle that we conceive and my last period was 4th April 2017. I'm unsure as to when I ovulated as I said to myself that I would buy ovulation tests if we didn't fall pregnant this cycle. I also said to myself that I wouldn't obsess over every symptom I was in my last cycle. I did 'relax' a bit I guess.

I don't live with my other half and only see each other on weekends so we only have the chance to fall pregnant really slim every cycle!

44.4 years old Natural BFP (ending in miscarriage)

Hello Fellow Hopeful Mammas,

I just wanted to give all of those 40+ mammas some hope that pregnancy does happen naturally even at this age. And I will try my best to keep it short and to the point. But with that, the following will be very dry and un-entertaining...

I am a 44.4 year old, been trying for 20 months with my 40-year-old new husband whom has never had children. I have 3 children from a previous marriage (ages 16 1/2, 15 and 9 1/2, all boys). Achieved pregnancy on 3rd month with first son, 2nd month with 2nd son, and for the 3rd son, was not even trying as husband had a vasectomy 5 years prior, but one got through and next thing you know I was pregnant).

With first son had bleeding at 6 1/2 weeks, followed by an u/s and everything was fine. No bleeding with 2nd son. 3rd son, noticed a light period at 4-5 weeks and though nothing of it because I thought I was having regular period. Come to find out at 6 1/2 weeksI was pregnant! That "period" I had was awfully light...which may have been some sort of implantation spotting. Not sure.

Anyway, I have been an elite athlete running miles and miles throughout all of my pregnancies and prior to them. Never had a problem conceiving. But, I stopped exercising excessively years ago and currently only walk or run 3-6 miles a few times a week. I am very active, but have cut back dramatically. Maybe I should start running 13 miles a day again...that is what I was doing when I conceived in the past! ;-)

No health issues. I'm 5 6 1/2 and about 120, but recently got up to 125 hoping that would help me conceive, but it actually just makes me feel crappy.

Have not had any formal testing on myself or husband as our fertility appointment is scheduled for June.

I also eat ridiculously well (dandelion greens, garlic, beets, tons of probiotics, lean meats, fresh eggs, homegrown veggies, sprouted broccoli, seeds, etc. I can't possibly name everything I eat). Although, I do drink coffee daily (1-2 cups). I always have and its never been a problem. But the last couple months, I cut back to less than 1 cup. I also drink wine, but have cut back on that as well.

After 20 months, I finally received a strong BFP at 13 DPO on a Clear Blue Easy +/- Test.
8DPO on IC Cheapie BFN
10DPO on IC Cheapie Very Very Faint BFP
11DPO on IC Cheapie Very Faint BFP
12 DPO on IC Cheapie Very Faint BFP
13 DPO on IC Cheapie Very Faint BFP

We made love on CD 10, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20

Didn't test again until today (19 DPO) when I started experiencing some mild cramping and then spotting which turned to heavier bleeding, cramping, passing clots, etc. I used another IC with very diluted urine in the afternoon and the line was VERY VERY faint. I will retest tomorrow with another Clear Blue Easy test, but I'm certain it will be negative. I use a menstrual cup and lost more than one ounce of blood in 5 hours (that is A LOT OF BLOOD).

I am certain of ovulation because I have a Kindara BBT Thermometer and have a confirmed ovulation on CD14 with a triphasic chart.

I have not really had any symptoms, but this is totally normal for me. With all my other 3 pregnancies, I had zero symptoms. I have never had any miscarriages either.

Over the last 20 months I have never even had a slightest BFP. The last two months, I started acupuncture once a week, Chinese Herbs, COQ10, B-Complex, Women's Whole Food Mulit-Vitamin, Zinc, DIM, Vit C, and Magnesium.

I have also done TONS of meditation every single day (guided meditation for conceiving) as well as a little pregnancy yoga.

Oh, and I was (and still am) scheduled for our first fertility appointment on June 15th. My husbands employer covers three rounds of IVF, but I really didn't want to take this route. I guess I should be thankful...

Lastly, my acupuncturist wanted me to continue with some other Chinese Herbs (Dong Quai) and others, but after researching on my own found that there is no research on these and it kind of freaked me out. I opted to not take these...who knows if it would have made a difference.

Anyway, at this point I am having heavy bleeding, low throbbing pain (like I would have during a very heavy period) and passing clots.

My first OB appointment was scheduled for 5/28, but I guess that will no longer be happening.

Oh, and I will try to be happy that I actually "got pregnant" and at least something worked after 20 months. Moving on till next month or fertility treatment, even though at the moment I am over it!

Tomorrow (Mothers Day), my hubby is out of the country for work, but I am going to wake up at 6am and treat myself to a long solo run in the forest, then make my boys breakfast and take them on a 3 mile hike. We live in Santa Cruz, CA and are lucky to have the mountains and the ocean out our doorstep :-)

Metformin miracle!

So excited to finally get to put my BFP story here!

First, a little background. My husband I decided to start trying for our rainbow in December of 2016. I had my IUD removed and was so excited to get started. Unfortunately, I've always had extremely irregular cycles, and in all of 2016 I only ended up having 4 very long cycles, with only 2 of them being ovulatory. After trying so many different methods and supplements to regulate my cycle on my own, I finally went to the doctor after a full year of trying. I was pretty quickly diagnosed with PCOS (which explained A LOT) and presribed Metformin. I was skeptical that the Metformin alone would get me ovulating, but my first cycle after I started taking it I not only ovulated, but relatively on time (CD 21)! Unfortunately, that cycle didn't end up with a BFP, but the very next cycle did! Here's a rundown of my symptoms leading to the BFP:

CD 28: O day. It was a little later than I would like, but at least I O'd!
1-3 DPO: Usual post O symptoms, cramping, a little tired, sore breasts (very normal TWW symptom for me)
4-6 DPO: Lots of strange cramps and twinges, some sharp stabbing pains
7 DPO: Still feeling my usual TWW symptoms, feeling very thirsty and very bloated
8 DPO: Took an HPT in the AM, knowing it was way too early but swear I see a very faint line. Eventually chalk it up to being an indent. Feeling very thirsty and very frequent urination - both of which are unusual for me. Breasts very sore and swollen, more than normal.
9-10 DPO: Feels like my breasts have grown a cup size. BFN's both days, which was a big let down after the faint line on 8 DPO. Counted myself out for the cycle and feeling very defeated. Still extremely thirsty and using the restroom a lot!
11 DPO: Took an HPT in the morning, and there was the faintest of lines. I was skeptical of it because it was an internet cheapie strip and I'd already been let down by the indent line a few days before. Starting to feel more hopeful though. Breasts are extremely sore and huge, very thristy, constantly feel like I need to pee. Very tired, although that's not unusual for me right before AF, not having much of an appetite and can't finish dinner, that was very strange.
12 DPO: Faint but definitely there BFP! I still didn't trust the cheapie strips so I bought a FRER on my lunch break and again, a faint but for sure there pink line! I couldn't believe it! Still tired and thirsty, very big and sore breasts, still don't have much of an appetite.
13 DPO- Now: Darker lines on the HPT's, starting to feel pregnant now.

Really the only symptoms during my TWW that were different than normal were being thirsty, frequent urination, and the loss of appetite. My biggest piece of advice would be to not wait to see the doctor if you're having very irregular or absent periods. I probably would have had that BFP a lot sooner had I gotten help earlier. There's a lot of information floating around about "miracle" supplements for PCOS and infertility and maybe they work for some, but really, if you're missing cycles you need to see a doctor who can help you find out why!

BFP at 16DPO with a 31 day cycle average (:

Hey lovelies! Here to post my symptoms for this cycle. This is my second pregnancy with a 5 year break and 7 months TTC! This cycle we only BDed once and it was on ovulation day. I was actually giving up TTC for a little while and then I got a surprise on my pregnancy test! My advice, now that I can compare conceiving twice is not to worry and stress about trying so hard. As long as you have your calendar/app, methods for tracking ovulation, and are in tune with your body on when you ovulate..you just need to have fun during your fertile window and let it go. Some things I also do is eat a nutrient rich vegetarian diet and take my vitamins/probiotics. My partner and I regularly exercise. Minimal white sugar and caffeine. Oh and more orgasms for the lady during baby dancing is vital! If it is meant to be it will surely happen (:

Ovulation cycle day 17: Baby danced! Clear stretchy CM, increased sex drive, increased appetite, left pelvic pain, cramps
1DPO: CM turned watery, nothing noteworthy to mention
2DPO-6DPO: Creamy CM, nothing noteworthy to mention
7DPO: Creamy CM, fatigue, increased sex drive
8DPO: Creamy CM, cramps, right pelvic pain
9DPO: Creamy CM, cramps, fatigue
10DPO: Creamy CM, cramps
11DPO & 12DPO: Creamy CM, increased sex drive
13DPO: Creamy CM, impatient, frustrated, anxious, tender breasts, fatigue, cramps, insomnia
14DPO: Creamy CM, impatient, fatigue, nipple soreness(both pregnancies the nipple/breast soreness was a giveaway), tender breasts, nausea, vomiting(woke up twice in the early morning to vomit), insomnia, increased sex drive
15DPO: Creamy CM but less of it, nausea, tender breasts, nipple soreness, decreased appetite, backaches, emotional, impatient
16DPO: Tested in the morning and BFP! 2 clear strong lines on the First Response, nausea, general "heavy" feeling in the abdomen area, nipple soreness(and I mean really bad! I won't let anyone touch them), enlarged and tender breasts(feels like they are going to fill with milk already!), watery CM, fatigue

Hope this helps! xo

"Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God" -Philippians 4:6-7

Lots of Baby Dust to you all! Xoxo
