Proof of Answered Prayers

Me 42 DH 41 DS 7 weeks 6 days I've been on this site for a couple of years, reading every single post I could to stay encouraged on my TTC journey. What I will never do again is look for other peoples experiences to be a tell tale sign of my own experience because when I got my BFP it came out of nowhere! Well almost.... DH and I started our TTC journey in April of 2014. After six months of no success we started our fertility treatments. Started with 3 IUI's from October 2014 to February 2015 because our insurance doesn't cover IVF if there aren't any medical diagnosis indicating we couldn't conceive. We moved on to another doctor and to IVF in March of 2015. We did two FET's with three embryos, that resulted in failures. We moved on to another doctor in October of 2015 and had one IVF that resulted in a 4th IUI because the doctor missed my ovulation. Then another mini fresh IVF with two embryos that also failed. In January of 2016 we moved on to our 4th doctor and had our 5th IFV with a tested embryo that also failed. At this point we exhausted all of our IVF insurance and medication coverage and decided not to do another IVF until September of 2016. We opted to do a 5th IUI and timed intercourse in May of 2016 with no real expectation of it working, at all. We did a long protocol from June 21st, triggered on July 1st, DB'd on July 1st, 2nd, & 4th with our IUI on July 3rd. I was temping all year and temped for this round also just for the hell of it. The morning of 11dpo, on July 16th, a day before AF was due, my temp was still high. I still didn't think anything of it but did an HPT anyway because we were flying out to Vegas on the 19th and I wanted to be certain I can party....BFP!!!! I was so much in shock I thought the test was broken so I ran out the house and went and got a beta done to be sure. The following morning my beta came back at 74! Two days later at 13dpo/IUI it was 251! I had no symptoms other than the high BBT. None at all. All of my BFN's I had every symptom under the sun. One thing that engulfed me for two years was looking for and analyzing symptoms that I've read on sites like this. DON'T EVER DO THAT! It will drive you nuts. I had no AF symptoms either but I wasn't thinking about that. Usually three days before AF I know its coming but I was looking forward to our Vegas trip so I didn't even notice. Another thing that annoyed me a bit while obsessing on sites like this was reading about miracle BFP's but there wasn't any follow through. Was the pregnancy successful, were there any issues, was it a chemical.... I knew that I wouldn't post my BFP story until I gave birth so there was a complete story to tell. We gave birth to our beautiful perfect son this past March 22nd. All of his pre-screening test were normal. He was delivered via emergency c-section and is perfectly healthy, other than having acid reflux;( Our miracle son from God arrived healthy and we couldn't be more happier. Thank you for all of your stories that kept me hopeful and I hope this testimony encourages at least one person not to give up hope, and be patient and know your BFP is coming. Good luck and prayers to all of you still in your TTC journey. Be encouraged that prayer changes things.

Almost 41 BFP

I just got my BFP after about 6 months of trying, one week shy of my 41st birthday and I was definitely feeling pressed for time. I did two cycles of unmonitored clomid. I stopped clomid and had the next cycle a natural monitored cycle. My FSH was 9.8, E2 50 on CD3. My CD13 ultrasound showed 5-7 follicles on each ovary, a triple layer 9 mm endometrium and a leading follicle of 21 mm. We BD CD11, CD14, and CD17. CD21 progesterone was 17 ng/ml. My cycles are generally 29-30 days but on clomid had extended to 32 days one month, 33 days the next. So this cycle day 33 came and went. I was so afraid to get a BFN that I waited until day 35 to test and did so with an opk first. The test window resulted faster then the control and was darker then I had ever seen on the opk. Blazing positive. I felt safe to go ahead with the HPT and sure enough in less then a minute that was a blazing positive too! Don't give up even if your FSH is on the higher side and/or you are over 40!! Baby dust to you :)

42 yo hypothyroidism, TTC for 18 months, BFP 20DPO

Hello everyone! So happy to be finally posting here. Ladies out there do not lose hope! I hope my story helps someone out there. Just got my first ever + so still really excited! It's been a long journey and I've had to get my health into check from subfertility to fertile, as standard checks have not revealed anything physically wrong with either of us. DH and I finally decided to start TTC in Sep 2015. Because of my age (40) I got some bloods done straight away and they came back with subclinical hypothyroidism. Started on Levothyroxine, built up slowly till was on 100mg by Aug 2016. Then I started Spotting pre period. By October 2016 I decided to start acupuncture, and straight away my temps were better in the luteal phase. By Jan 2017 my periods were better yet still nothing so I got in touch with a herbalist and began taking a fertility herbal tonic. And now I'm pregnant! Here's a list of the supplements I've been taking since October 2016 ( DH not as consistent but took first 3 ): Prenatal vit, coQ enz10, vit D, folic acid, magnesium at night. Fish oil. Really important that you don't think you're just a number! Books I found useful: Taking Charge of your Fertility, It Starts with the Egg, Period Repair Manual. my recommendation: if you think you'll go for acupuncture find a fertility expert one. She helped me regulate my temps, stop pre period spotting, control midnight pee antics and regulate period flow. And NO PMS for the last two months! !! I found inspiration in the following websites : Molly nichols and Deidre Morris. Both looking at connecting with your feminine wisdom. I also do a lot of visualisations and mindfulness. I also tried OPK for 3 months and never got peak fertility including this month. It turns out they're not so accurate for older women. of course I went through being obsessive with chart apps for the first year until I mentally exhausted myself and then decided to just keep a vague interest in my fertile window. I stopped charting properly some 4 months ago. I think it's a process you have to go through. Summary of this cycle : my luteal phase is normally 12 days long. CD17 Ovulation 1-12DPO No noticeable symptoms 13-20DPO Some menstrual style cramping and large and sore boobs. Tested + today. Still no other symptoms. Don’t feel pregnant yet! I hope this little bean sticks! Baby dust to all!!!

Bfp!!!!!

I can't believe it! Got a bfp this morning!! (It's still only 5.52 am!! Haha!). Have been testing since 9dpo and nothing. Today is 15dpo and af is 1-2 days late. I thought I was out this month - yesterday was feeling def symptoms of af but it usually comes at night and nothing so I decided to test again. I can't believe it!! I know this is going to make some people hate me but this is our first month of trying and we actually only did it once around ovulation so I'm kind of in shock. I have been having def symptoms though really since about 3-4 dpo. 3-6dpo felt a bit nauseous and had tingling bbs. Also really thirsty. Some bleeding gums. 7dpo sudden bout of terrible diarrhoea in the night. Felt suddenly sick then too and wondered if I might pass out. 8dpo felt sudden sharp twinge in uterus.also picked up a bit of a cold and completely lost my voice plus sores on my tongue appeared. Incredibley tired. 9-11dpo really hungry. Some nausea but not all the time. More bleeding gums. Bfn 8-13dpo more nausea and tingling, prickly bbs. Bfn 14dpo lower abdomen cramps like af coming. Bfn 15dpo bfp!!! Nausea So don't give up on your bfp ladies!! With my other children I got early bfps so was expecting the same for this one so thought I must be out when I got to 15dpo. I'm going to be 40 in Nov so was expecting things to be trickier this time (had dd#3 when I was 35). Obviously I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything is ok but just can't believe it worked!!!! Thank you to all the earlier posters who kept me going through the tww xxxx

BFP at 40

I used to read this board for inspiration and promised myself I would add my story if I got my BFP. I started trying to conceive after I turned 39. After 8 months of trying and no success I started seeing a naprotechnology practitioner to assist with conception without IVF. After doing various blood tests it was discovered I had a luteal phase defect (inadequate progesterone production after ovulation). I was started on various supplements and medication (to enhance cervical mucus - vitamin B6, guaiphenesin, amoxil; to enhance ovulation - leterozole; to enhance progesterone production & implantation - HCG, then progesterone for the first 3 months of pregnancy). After only two months on this program I conceived my beautiful daughter. 9 months later a healthy baby girl at age 41. I am now trying for my second baby at age 42. I hope this gives others hope - it can be done.

45 and naturally pregnant

Hi all, I wanted to share my story to give hope to other ladies in similar situations. I am 45 years old with history of hypothyroidism. My first child was conceived after 6 years of trying; I needed ovulation drugs and had a miscarriage (and D&C) before she was conceived via IUI. Since then, we left it at the hand of "higher powers" (I was sick of the whole rigmarole of taking drugs, dozens of visits to doctors and having to put my life on hold) but nothing happened for 6 years, although I would have dearly loved a sibling for my girl. I was aware of the "only 1% of ladies in mid-40s" get pregnant stats.; so was actually expecting perimenopause to set in any time now...... but.... Here I am now 5.5 weeks pregnant naturally with own egg! I am shocked! I have an ObGyn visit next week and will discuss Progesterone shots. So ladies, it is possible!

45 BFP naturally!

I know the odds. I have seen the raised eyebrows. I've heard every negative that a woman my age can hear and yet just a week ago I was 7 weeks pregnant naturally. Unfortunately I lost my baby to miscarriage but my husband and I are trying again! I did want to give you symptoms and tips though... If nothing else to provide hope and baby dust. I know when I ovulate. I mean I literally know the minute I ovulate. TMI *reader beware* but you know the CM that makes it feel like if you move ever so slightly you're going to have an orgasm all on your own? That's my fertile CM. I text my husband and said "I'm ovulating and I want to test a theory" ... The theory was literally if a woman my age could still get pregnant and 2 weeks later the answer was a big fat YES! Exactly 12 days from my own prediction of ovulating I had light brown discharge that lasted for two days. Immediately following my boobs became unbearably sore two days after that I had a dream of a positive pregnancy test. I was skeptical so I continued to believe that I was maybe menopausal. The symptoms kept stacking up on me. I started craving maruchen ramen with sciracha hot coconut oil on it and peanut butter toast... Both things I've never eaten in my life and both tasted so wonderful I had to have them. About 5 weeks pregnant my hair stopped falling out. Every time I'm pregnant a very sure sign is that I have no hair in my brush. Weird symptom but because of the increase in blood supply your hair is less likely to fall out. I was more sleepy than usual but I have to say the reason I tested was because my boobs were so tender my husband could not fully hug me. I tested and it was instantly bright blue positive sign. My husband made a good point that maybe the test was wrong. I was uncertain so I tested again ... This time with a clear blue easy test "pregnant" ... We tested again a week after that "pregnant" ... We were both so excited. What an amazing feeling. We just got married in July 2016. He doesn't have any biological children and we became hopeful. Knowing my thyroid would be an issue I contacted the obgyn immediately. They seemed unconcerned since I was already pregnant and wanted to wait two weeks. I insisted that I was high risk because I have hypothyroidism. They insisted that I was already pregnant and didn't need to see me for two weeks. They called me back and meet me in the middle for 5 days later. I knew when my boobs stopped hurting that I was out. I knew I was out when I went for my ultra sound. They could only see a gestational sac measuring 5 weeks 3 days. I was devastated but everyone else was hopeful and told me I must have my ovulation date mixed up. No one would listen to me. They blood tested me and I was told my HCG looked good for how far along they thought I was and the sac was attached, no bleeding and in perfect shape. The nurse told me my thyroid was elevated and upped my dose of thyroid medication. Now I was hopeful. Two days later I had what felt like labor pains at work. I ended up in the ER that day and was notified after a blood test that I was having a miscarriage.. :( at the time I miscarried my thyroid was 7.3 when in the first trimester they like it to stay around 2.5 ... I'm convinced my thyroid put an end to my pregnancy progression. The good news is we are trying again and seeking the advice of a fertility specialist.. the good news is I got pregnant naturally twice in my 40's. One at 43 (miscarriage :( ) and again at 45. So it's possible. I also exercise (walk) and take prenatal vitamins and quit caffeine to make sure my next baby has the very best chance of survival. I read this in my quest to find answers: "50% of miscarriages are chromosomal and 50% are an imbalance in the mother" Ladies, your thyroid or a hormonal imbalance may be impairing your ability to maintain a pregnancy to term... Get checked often. Also... This next time we are trying preseed :) Baby dust and sticky beans to all!!!

First attempt at IVF/ICSI - BFP

BACKGROUND: I froze 21 oocytes at the age of 35/36 and had them fertilised almost 4 years later at age 39.5 with a guy who had low motility/low morphology/low count and therefore required ICSI. The thaw rate of unfertilised eggs is pretty terrible so it was an extremely stressful few weeks. We decided to use half for the first IVF to see how things went. So out of 10, only 5 thawed and fertilised properly, by the next morning, we only had 3 embryos left, by day 3, two of those embryos weren't looking good but 1 looked really good. I went and sat in church a few times to pray for a good outcome and try to destress in there. By day 5, I had one A grade embryo! It was incredibly depressing and stressful and I was so worried that this one shot would not take. SYMPTOMS: Embryo transfer day, Acupuncture at 8:15am and transfer at 10:00am - the Dr told me the embryo was an A grade embryo and would implant within the next 24 hours. Acupuncture again at 11:00am. I felt so happy that I had at least one good one and one good shot. I had cramps during the day likely from the prodding of the procedure itself. At 3:00am that night, I felt a fast sharp pin prick stab on my left side. I thought to myself, "Surely it's too early for implantation signs?!" But he did say it would start to happen within 24 hours! I assumed this is when the embryo first latched onto the uterus lining. DPT and DPO 1dp5dt - 7dpo - morning cramps from procedure or embryo action? Stressed out and depressed as I was taking antibiotics for Ureaplasma at the same time. Slight pressure on the left side ovary area where I felt that sharp stab. Mild cramps after shower - progesterone or embryo related? Bloated. A little itchy around the left ovary area. 2dp5dt - 8dpo - lots of symptoms today. Felt pressure on left ovary or lower left side somewhere towards the surface. Slight sting in left side /ovary area after lunch. No ovary pressure in the evening but it did look more swollen and felt slightly tender in the left lower side. Pressure returned briefly after a shower. Feeling pressure and not at all comfortable when trying to sleep. I had to lie on the right side to try and get some sleep. Slight uterine cramps at 2:20am, uterus feels bloated and full when lying down. Slight lower back ache, pressure, feels uncomfortable all night. Shooting pain in left ovary at 3:40am. 3dp5dt - 9dpo- I read that implantation into the uterine lining wall usually complete by day 9dpo which is today. Brief bloating feeling after progesterone pessary. Otherwise absolutely no symptoms all day, feeling depressed. 4dp5dt - 10dpo - No symptoms except for a short light twinge on left ovary area and slight itch briefly on left ovary area. Went to church to pray. Acupuncture at 5:45pm (it is recommended this done 5 days post transfer). Bloated - So bloated that my leggings are way too tight and unbearable to wear. Breasts have been tender all week, however I think it's due to the progesterone pessary. 5dp5dt - 11dpo - FAINT POSITIVE!!!!!!!!! NO SYMPTOMS. By this point, I really haven't felt anything significant since the 2nd day after transfer. 6dp5dt - 12dpo - No symptoms. HPT is darker. 7dp5dt - 12dpo - afternoon, brief and slight pressure/throbbing sensation in the left ovary area again. HPT is darker. 8dp5dt - 13dpo - super slight pressure, throbbing sensation on and off all day, mild sting left side. I read that the placenta is now also producing HCG so maybe this is what I am feeling. HPT is darker. Praying that this sticks. Beta testing is 2 days away - fingers crossed all goes well :)

BFP at 11dpo--Symptoms by dpo (and some other details)

I have read so many of these “BFP symptoms by DPO” stories that I promised myself if I got pregnant one day, I would post mine for others to read. Well, I got a BFP three times, but two resulted in miscarriages and the last one was a rainbow baby but I was a nervous wreck about it, so never got around to write my story. Furthermore, I believe that any symptoms that show up before a missed period/BFP are totally coincidental. I had symptomless TWWs where I ended up getting a BFP and I had everything under the sun, including nausea, that ended up being a BFN. Anyways, I just got my BFP half an hour ago. I am still in total shock! Here’s my journey this past month: I have been ovulating around CD 17 and having short luteal phases. Also I don’t always get a positive OPK, although I seem to ovulate based on BBTs. Last month I didn’t have a very short luteal phase and seeing AF on 14dpo made me happy, even though I hate to see her at all. I went ahead and ordered over the counter progesterone cream so as to extend my luteal phase and not have a period before a potentially fertilized egg has a chance to implant. I also started using Vitamin B6 in addition to my regular prenatal vitamin, Omega 3, and Vitamin D. I also bought vitex/chasteberry but couldn't use it and I occasionally drink raspberry leaf tea. CD13: Strong pain in left ovary. I am certain I ovulated. I worry because we did not BD for a couple of days. (Because honestly, it gets too much to try to do it every day until that OPK smiles, so we were going to start around CD 14 or 15). Did not get to BD until the evening. CD 15: Felt something on left ovary. CD 16: BBT spike (I have not been able to sleep and wake at regular times, so my BBTs are a little unreliable, but this is an obvious spike). Even though, I have been getting negative OPKs. I go the bathroom, and get a positive OPK. I thought this is supposed to be a heads up--you ovulate within the next 24 hrs after the positive OPK. In fact, 24 hrs after the peak OPK, not after first positive, but this was so dark that I didn’t test in the following days, this must have been my peak. So, I don’t know if I ovulated on CD 16 or CD 17. (didn’t get to BD on CD 16 or 17, so I hoped that I ovulated on 16 already). But my temps stated high after this. CD 17: Feeling cold all day, but didn’t actually catch a cold. 1-4dpo: nothing 5dpo: Started using progesterone cream (supposed to use after ovulation, but my order only arrived today). The pump took out too much and I used most of it, but didn’t really want to use so much since it’s not monitored by my doctor. And I didn’t want to have any of the adverse effects like increasing estrogen. 6dpo: Temp spike 0.3 degrees (probably due to progesterone cream. I used much less in the coming days, but used it regularly every evening). 7dpo: Increased cervical fluid 8dpo: Increased cervical fluid 10dpo: Temp spike (even though I have been using progesterone consistently and the same small amount, and even though I woke up earlier than normal). I take that as a good sign. Stabbing pain in breasts (I take that as a bad sign because this to me before AF; with pregnancy it's soreness in the breasts). 11dpo: Morning: BBT stayed higher (but I slept in, so no surprise). Light AF type of cramps, especially around left ovary. Afternoon/evening: Craving for sweet, nothing but sweet (bad sign, for me it’s always signaling AF). Increased cervical fluid. Midnight: Clear BFP with FRER!!! In the hindsight, I must have ovulated on CD16, and this must be 12dpo (because we would have had a higher chance of conceiving if ovulation was sooner and because my BFP was pretty clear for 11dpo). CTP app would not agree with setting it to CD 16, so I left it at CD 17 on my chart. With my age and thyroid problems, a BFP is only quarter of the battle. But I am still excited. If you believe, pray for me. If you want, send positive thoughts my way. I will be doing the same for all of you who are waiting for that BFP. Good night!

BFP at 40!

I'm so excited to be a mom again after 21 years. Been trying for 1.5 years and figured it wasn't possible. I used the apps that track your cycle and predict ovulation. I do think that helped. The one thing I did different this last month was instead of getting up to empty my bladder right after sex, I waited 30 minutes before standing up. In the past I've had trouble with UTIs so I would immediately get up, forcefully empty my bladder and wash. My symptoms with my first were extreme nausea and breast pain. With this one, I am gassy, sore breasts but nothing else and I don't "feel" pregnant. Praying for a healthy pregnancy. Good luck ladies :)
