42 and after 5 years a BFP with several faint positive

I swear the first five days those positives kept jumping at me I would insist on tweaking, messing with lighting. Surely it's an evaporation line. Amazingly every single dollar store test would turn positive after the 10 mark time and I discounted that until I read a few posts about how many women got pregnant and same scenerio. Thought the test was negative, threw it out, dug it out and a positive. But I still didn't believe it. It's been 5 years of this TWW stuff I'm in pregnancy denial maybe? Well tonight I said enough with these dollar tests and spent 16.99 on a two pack of FRER'S. Didn't need more than four seconds for that second line and then I went total mental usual suspects mode analyzing every damn test I'd been staring at on my phone and put it together like a puzzle. YOU ARE PREGNANT WOMAN!! STOP PEEING ON THINGS. So here I sit. With the following obvious signs I had for a week that I've blown off 6dpo sharp dip in my BBT chart. This was my very first month temping and using preseed and softcup. Also my second month on vitex. 7dpo headache. Way sore girls. They did not want to be caged, free the boobies! Such a sharp pain I went down to the floor and had to take something. Felt like my uterus was falling out. So much pressure 8 dpo first positive (I convinced myself was negative because you know....the time frame thing 9dpo fell asleep at 3 pm woke at 6 went back to sleep at 8 and didn't get up until 5 am the next morning 10 dpo. What is this crap??? Why does my coffee taste like butter? Searched the fridge to find the smell that I kept getting a whiff of at every pass to the bathroom. Found it! Open bag of broccoli in the vegetable bin. How the heck did I not know this was a huge sign? Skipped testing this day and tweaked old tests I have officially peed on all the things !! 11dpo damn you dollar tree, I'm on my way. Af cramps. Maybe I'm wasting my time. Bope, I'm going. 10 in hand. Lady at the counter started to make a joke and I looked at her with the stare of pure evil so she knew not to go there. I have been holding my wee for 1 hour lady this is not ok. Hmmmm a bit snappy today. The perfume from the lady behind the counter at dunkin donuts attached itself to my cup and I had to throw it out because I couod smell that perfume everywhere. Pink line after 30 minutes and dollar tree test dried ON 3 tests!. Must be me being hopeful. 12 dpo AF cramps for about an hour again. Left side. Dull headache and falling asleep on the phone. Scratch cottage cheese and tomatoes off my grocery list. All I want is cereal. Another line same time frame and density as the previous 4 days. Never ever seen color on an evap line and trust me I've peed on A LOT of things in these 5 years. I've even Googled sugar tests, all the DIY tests that BTW do not work. These evaps must be a bad batch. 13 dpo. Today. Stitch feelings are precisely the perfect term for what I'm feeling on the left lower pelvic area. Almost in the hip. Definitely a pink line after staring at a test for two hours on my phone. I'm convinced. Completely talked to myself driving to the store to get a frer and thought nothing of it until I got out of my jeep. It seriously was like the end of the usual suspects. All the lines. The pink evaps. The tests. The dollar store trips. The hold. Oh I hate the hold. Is this for real? I had already went to the restroom before I went to the store so that was less than 20 min. Who cares!!! I've got two and I need to pee on something and analyze the heck out of it. And there it was. My Beautiful moment. Clear as day. Omgosh I haven't had a baby in 19 years!!!! If I can't pee on things I must start planning. I put a collection together for you all to see all the tests that were indeed positive Still having the stich feeling. It's very obvious Sore girls but not too bad. Headaches and no pimples were a huge sign for me as well. Wishing everyone loads of baby dust. It will happen. I have a 26 -28 day cycle 2 grown boys one with severe disability and all I can do is smile.

BFP at 40+

Today I got my BFP. 3 and 1/2 years waiting for this. I am 40 and husband is 49. Nine years married and parents of a wonderful 8 years old boy. First pregnancy was a surprise early in our marriage. 4 years later our boy realized he was the only one with not siblings and started to ask for a sister. One year after and not baby he decided even a boy was fine. But nothing happened. Then we have a chemical pregnancy and never again. Two years of test after test and 6 inseminations later they only said secondary infertility for not reason. This year we try to get IVF treatment and the new doctor told me I was too old (a little after my 40th birthday). He recommended another insemination without hormones and again failed. I went back to my old doctor and we were working on my file for the IVF. On the meantime we tried one insemination more (with Clomid and progesterone)... And today at 13 dpo I got two positive tests. What I did this month : Dhea 50 mg for both Larginine for my husband After iIUI : Baby aspirin every night Pep acid 1 per night Benadryl 2 x 25mg per night. Positive thoughts at morning and at night Prayers a lot -I am not the most religious woman in the world but I prayed a lot every day because I couldn't imagine going trough in vitro hormones. I was crazy under clomid and progesterone alone! I don't know if will go well but I am happy we already made it to a positive HPT I hope this story can give you hope. I was always checking other women in their 40s who end having a BFP.

44.4 years old Natural BFP (ending in miscarriage)

Hello Fellow Hopeful Mammas, I just wanted to give all of those 40+ mammas some hope that pregnancy does happen naturally even at this age. And I will try my best to keep it short and to the point. But with that, the following will be very dry and un-entertaining... I am a 44.4 year old, been trying for 20 months with my 40-year-old new husband whom has never had children. I have 3 children from a previous marriage (ages 16 1/2, 15 and 9 1/2, all boys). Achieved pregnancy on 3rd month with first son, 2nd month with 2nd son, and for the 3rd son, was not even trying as husband had a vasectomy 5 years prior, but one got through and next thing you know I was pregnant). With first son had bleeding at 6 1/2 weeks, followed by an u/s and everything was fine. No bleeding with 2nd son. 3rd son, noticed a light period at 4-5 weeks and though nothing of it because I thought I was having regular period. Come to find out at 6 1/2 weeksI was pregnant! That "period" I had was awfully light...which may have been some sort of implantation spotting. Not sure. Anyway, I have been an elite athlete running miles and miles throughout all of my pregnancies and prior to them. Never had a problem conceiving. But, I stopped exercising excessively years ago and currently only walk or run 3-6 miles a few times a week. I am very active, but have cut back dramatically. Maybe I should start running 13 miles a day again...that is what I was doing when I conceived in the past! ;-) No health issues. I'm 5 6 1/2 and about 120, but recently got up to 125 hoping that would help me conceive, but it actually just makes me feel crappy. Have not had any formal testing on myself or husband as our fertility appointment is scheduled for June. I also eat ridiculously well (dandelion greens, garlic, beets, tons of probiotics, lean meats, fresh eggs, homegrown veggies, sprouted broccoli, seeds, etc. I can't possibly name everything I eat). Although, I do drink coffee daily (1-2 cups). I always have and its never been a problem. But the last couple months, I cut back to less than 1 cup. I also drink wine, but have cut back on that as well. After 20 months, I finally received a strong BFP at 13 DPO on a Clear Blue Easy +/- Test. 8DPO on IC Cheapie BFN 10DPO on IC Cheapie Very Very Faint BFP 11DPO on IC Cheapie Very Faint BFP 12 DPO on IC Cheapie Very Faint BFP 13 DPO on IC Cheapie Very Faint BFP We made love on CD 10, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20 Didn't test again until today (19 DPO) when I started experiencing some mild cramping and then spotting which turned to heavier bleeding, cramping, passing clots, etc. I used another IC with very diluted urine in the afternoon and the line was VERY VERY faint. I will retest tomorrow with another Clear Blue Easy test, but I'm certain it will be negative. I use a menstrual cup and lost more than one ounce of blood in 5 hours (that is A LOT OF BLOOD). I am certain of ovulation because I have a Kindara BBT Thermometer and have a confirmed ovulation on CD14 with a triphasic chart. I have not really had any symptoms, but this is totally normal for me. With all my other 3 pregnancies, I had zero symptoms. I have never had any miscarriages either. Over the last 20 months I have never even had a slightest BFP. The last two months, I started acupuncture once a week, Chinese Herbs, COQ10, B-Complex, Women's Whole Food Mulit-Vitamin, Zinc, DIM, Vit C, and Magnesium. I have also done TONS of meditation every single day (guided meditation for conceiving) as well as a little pregnancy yoga. Oh, and I was (and still am) scheduled for our first fertility appointment on June 15th. My husbands employer covers three rounds of IVF, but I really didn't want to take this route. I guess I should be thankful... Lastly, my acupuncturist wanted me to continue with some other Chinese Herbs (Dong Quai) and others, but after researching on my own found that there is no research on these and it kind of freaked me out. I opted to not take these...who knows if it would have made a difference. Anyway, at this point I am having heavy bleeding, low throbbing pain (like I would have during a very heavy period) and passing clots. My first OB appointment was scheduled for 5/28, but I guess that will no longer be happening. Oh, and I will try to be happy that I actually "got pregnant" and at least something worked after 20 months. Moving on till next month or fertility treatment, even though at the moment I am over it! Tomorrow (Mothers Day), my hubby is out of the country for work, but I am going to wake up at 6am and treat myself to a long solo run in the forest, then make my boys breakfast and take them on a 3 mile hike. We live in Santa Cruz, CA and are lucky to have the mountains and the ocean out our doorstep :-) You can tell the universe what you want, but be ready and willing to accept something better...whatever that may be... Best of luck to you all XO CellStell

Proof of Answered Prayers

Me 42 DH 41 DS 7 weeks 6 days I've been on this site for a couple of years, reading every single post I could to stay encouraged on my TTC journey. What I will never do again is look for other peoples experiences to be a tell tale sign of my own experience because when I got my BFP it came out of nowhere! Well almost.... DH and I started our TTC journey in April of 2014. After six months of no success we started our fertility treatments. Started with 3 IUI's from October 2014 to February 2015 because our insurance doesn't cover IVF if there aren't any medical diagnosis indicating we couldn't conceive. We moved on to another doctor and to IVF in March of 2015. We did two FET's with three embryos, that resulted in failures. We moved on to another doctor in October of 2015 and had one IVF that resulted in a 4th IUI because the doctor missed my ovulation. Then another mini fresh IVF with two embryos that also failed. In January of 2016 we moved on to our 4th doctor and had our 5th IFV with a tested embryo that also failed. At this point we exhausted all of our IVF insurance and medication coverage and decided not to do another IVF until September of 2016. We opted to do a 5th IUI and timed intercourse in May of 2016 with no real expectation of it working, at all. We did a long protocol from June 21st, triggered on July 1st, DB'd on July 1st, 2nd, & 4th with our IUI on July 3rd. I was temping all year and temped for this round also just for the hell of it. The morning of 11dpo, on July 16th, a day before AF was due, my temp was still high. I still didn't think anything of it but did an HPT anyway because we were flying out to Vegas on the 19th and I wanted to be certain I can party....BFP!!!! I was so much in shock I thought the test was broken so I ran out the house and went and got a beta done to be sure. The following morning my beta came back at 74! Two days later at 13dpo/IUI it was 251! I had no symptoms other than the high BBT. None at all. All of my BFN's I had every symptom under the sun. One thing that engulfed me for two years was looking for and analyzing symptoms that I've read on sites like this. DON'T EVER DO THAT! It will drive you nuts. I had no AF symptoms either but I wasn't thinking about that. Usually three days before AF I know its coming but I was looking forward to our Vegas trip so I didn't even notice. Another thing that annoyed me a bit while obsessing on sites like this was reading about miracle BFP's but there wasn't any follow through. Was the pregnancy successful, were there any issues, was it a chemical.... I knew that I wouldn't post my BFP story until I gave birth so there was a complete story to tell. We gave birth to our beautiful perfect son this past March 22nd. All of his pre-screening test were normal. He was delivered via emergency c-section and is perfectly healthy, other than having acid reflux;( Our miracle son from God arrived healthy and we couldn't be more happier. Thank you for all of your stories that kept me hopeful and I hope this testimony encourages at least one person not to give up hope, and be patient and know your BFP is coming. Good luck and prayers to all of you still in your TTC journey. Be encouraged that prayer changes things.

Almost 41 BFP

I just got my BFP after about 6 months of trying, one week shy of my 41st birthday and I was definitely feeling pressed for time. I did two cycles of unmonitored clomid. I stopped clomid and had the next cycle a natural monitored cycle. My FSH was 9.8, E2 50 on CD3. My CD13 ultrasound showed 5-7 follicles on each ovary, a triple layer 9 mm endometrium and a leading follicle of 21 mm. We BD CD11, CD14, and CD17. CD21 progesterone was 17 ng/ml. My cycles are generally 29-30 days but on clomid had extended to 32 days one month, 33 days the next. So this cycle day 33 came and went. I was so afraid to get a BFN that I waited until day 35 to test and did so with an opk first. The test window resulted faster then the control and was darker then I had ever seen on the opk. Blazing positive. I felt safe to go ahead with the HPT and sure enough in less then a minute that was a blazing positive too! Don't give up even if your FSH is on the higher side and/or you are over 40!! Baby dust to you :)

42 yo hypothyroidism, TTC for 18 months, BFP 20DPO

Hello everyone! So happy to be finally posting here. Ladies out there do not lose hope! I hope my story helps someone out there. Just got my first ever + so still really excited! It's been a long journey and I've had to get my health into check from subfertility to fertile, as standard checks have not revealed anything physically wrong with either of us. DH and I finally decided to start TTC in Sep 2015. Because of my age (40) I got some bloods done straight away and they came back with subclinical hypothyroidism. Started on Levothyroxine, built up slowly till was on 100mg by Aug 2016. Then I started Spotting pre period. By October 2016 I decided to start acupuncture, and straight away my temps were better in the luteal phase. By Jan 2017 my periods were better yet still nothing so I got in touch with a herbalist and began taking a fertility herbal tonic. And now I'm pregnant! Here's a list of the supplements I've been taking since October 2016 ( DH not as consistent but took first 3 ): Prenatal vit, coQ enz10, vit D, folic acid, magnesium at night. Fish oil. Really important that you don't think you're just a number! Books I found useful: Taking Charge of your Fertility, It Starts with the Egg, Period Repair Manual. my recommendation: if you think you'll go for acupuncture find a fertility expert one. She helped me regulate my temps, stop pre period spotting, control midnight pee antics and regulate period flow. And NO PMS for the last two months! !! I found inspiration in the following websites : Molly nichols and Deidre Morris. Both looking at connecting with your feminine wisdom. I also do a lot of visualisations and mindfulness. I also tried OPK for 3 months and never got peak fertility including this month. It turns out they're not so accurate for older women. of course I went through being obsessive with chart apps for the first year until I mentally exhausted myself and then decided to just keep a vague interest in my fertile window. I stopped charting properly some 4 months ago. I think it's a process you have to go through. Summary of this cycle : my luteal phase is normally 12 days long. CD17 Ovulation 1-12DPO No noticeable symptoms 13-20DPO Some menstrual style cramping and large and sore boobs. Tested + today. Still no other symptoms. Don’t feel pregnant yet! I hope this little bean sticks! Baby dust to all!!!

Bfp!!!!!

I can't believe it! Got a bfp this morning!! (It's still only 5.52 am!! Haha!). Have been testing since 9dpo and nothing. Today is 15dpo and af is 1-2 days late. I thought I was out this month - yesterday was feeling def symptoms of af but it usually comes at night and nothing so I decided to test again. I can't believe it!! I know this is going to make some people hate me but this is our first month of trying and we actually only did it once around ovulation so I'm kind of in shock. I have been having def symptoms though really since about 3-4 dpo. 3-6dpo felt a bit nauseous and had tingling bbs. Also really thirsty. Some bleeding gums. 7dpo sudden bout of terrible diarrhoea in the night. Felt suddenly sick then too and wondered if I might pass out. 8dpo felt sudden sharp twinge in uterus.also picked up a bit of a cold and completely lost my voice plus sores on my tongue appeared. Incredibley tired. 9-11dpo really hungry. Some nausea but not all the time. More bleeding gums. Bfn 8-13dpo more nausea and tingling, prickly bbs. Bfn 14dpo lower abdomen cramps like af coming. Bfn 15dpo bfp!!! Nausea So don't give up on your bfp ladies!! With my other children I got early bfps so was expecting the same for this one so thought I must be out when I got to 15dpo. I'm going to be 40 in Nov so was expecting things to be trickier this time (had dd#3 when I was 35). Obviously I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything is ok but just can't believe it worked!!!! Thank you to all the earlier posters who kept me going through the tww xxxx

BFP at 40

I used to read this board for inspiration and promised myself I would add my story if I got my BFP. I started trying to conceive after I turned 39. After 8 months of trying and no success I started seeing a naprotechnology practitioner to assist with conception without IVF. After doing various blood tests it was discovered I had a luteal phase defect (inadequate progesterone production after ovulation). I was started on various supplements and medication (to enhance cervical mucus - vitamin B6, guaiphenesin, amoxil; to enhance ovulation - leterozole; to enhance progesterone production & implantation - HCG, then progesterone for the first 3 months of pregnancy). After only two months on this program I conceived my beautiful daughter. 9 months later a healthy baby girl at age 41. I am now trying for my second baby at age 42. I hope this gives others hope - it can be done.

45 and naturally pregnant

Hi all, I wanted to share my story to give hope to other ladies in similar situations. I am 45 years old with history of hypothyroidism. My first child was conceived after 6 years of trying; I needed ovulation drugs and had a miscarriage (and D&C) before she was conceived via IUI. Since then, we left it at the hand of "higher powers" (I was sick of the whole rigmarole of taking drugs, dozens of visits to doctors and having to put my life on hold) but nothing happened for 6 years, although I would have dearly loved a sibling for my girl. I was aware of the "only 1% of ladies in mid-40s" get pregnant stats.; so was actually expecting perimenopause to set in any time now...... but.... Here I am now 5.5 weeks pregnant naturally with own egg! I am shocked! I have an ObGyn visit next week and will discuss Progesterone shots. So ladies, it is possible!

45 BFP naturally!

I know the odds. I have seen the raised eyebrows. I've heard every negative that a woman my age can hear and yet just a week ago I was 7 weeks pregnant naturally. Unfortunately I lost my baby to miscarriage but my husband and I are trying again! I did want to give you symptoms and tips though... If nothing else to provide hope and baby dust. I know when I ovulate. I mean I literally know the minute I ovulate. TMI *reader beware* but you know the CM that makes it feel like if you move ever so slightly you're going to have an orgasm all on your own? That's my fertile CM. I text my husband and said "I'm ovulating and I want to test a theory" ... The theory was literally if a woman my age could still get pregnant and 2 weeks later the answer was a big fat YES! Exactly 12 days from my own prediction of ovulating I had light brown discharge that lasted for two days. Immediately following my boobs became unbearably sore two days after that I had a dream of a positive pregnancy test. I was skeptical so I continued to believe that I was maybe menopausal. The symptoms kept stacking up on me. I started craving maruchen ramen with sciracha hot coconut oil on it and peanut butter toast... Both things I've never eaten in my life and both tasted so wonderful I had to have them. About 5 weeks pregnant my hair stopped falling out. Every time I'm pregnant a very sure sign is that I have no hair in my brush. Weird symptom but because of the increase in blood supply your hair is less likely to fall out. I was more sleepy than usual but I have to say the reason I tested was because my boobs were so tender my husband could not fully hug me. I tested and it was instantly bright blue positive sign. My husband made a good point that maybe the test was wrong. I was uncertain so I tested again ... This time with a clear blue easy test "pregnant" ... We tested again a week after that "pregnant" ... We were both so excited. What an amazing feeling. We just got married in July 2016. He doesn't have any biological children and we became hopeful. Knowing my thyroid would be an issue I contacted the obgyn immediately. They seemed unconcerned since I was already pregnant and wanted to wait two weeks. I insisted that I was high risk because I have hypothyroidism. They insisted that I was already pregnant and didn't need to see me for two weeks. They called me back and meet me in the middle for 5 days later. I knew when my boobs stopped hurting that I was out. I knew I was out when I went for my ultra sound. They could only see a gestational sac measuring 5 weeks 3 days. I was devastated but everyone else was hopeful and told me I must have my ovulation date mixed up. No one would listen to me. They blood tested me and I was told my HCG looked good for how far along they thought I was and the sac was attached, no bleeding and in perfect shape. The nurse told me my thyroid was elevated and upped my dose of thyroid medication. Now I was hopeful. Two days later I had what felt like labor pains at work. I ended up in the ER that day and was notified after a blood test that I was having a miscarriage.. :( at the time I miscarried my thyroid was 7.3 when in the first trimester they like it to stay around 2.5 ... I'm convinced my thyroid put an end to my pregnancy progression. The good news is we are trying again and seeking the advice of a fertility specialist.. the good news is I got pregnant naturally twice in my 40's. One at 43 (miscarriage :( ) and again at 45. So it's possible. I also exercise (walk) and take prenatal vitamins and quit caffeine to make sure my next baby has the very best chance of survival. I read this in my quest to find answers: "50% of miscarriages are chromosomal and 50% are an imbalance in the mother" Ladies, your thyroid or a hormonal imbalance may be impairing your ability to maintain a pregnancy to term... Get checked often. Also... This next time we are trying preseed :) Baby dust and sticky beans to all!!!
