Pregnant After 27 Months of TTC and 2nd Round of Clomid and IUI

Hi Ladies,

I used this site to get through what seemed like a very long 2 1/2 years of trying to conceive. I wanted to share my story to encourage those in similar situations to take a deep breath and keep on trying!! Never give up hope.

We were on our second round of Clomid and IUI and were told by the doctors I likely had/have endometriosis and that if our third round of Clomid and IUI were unsuccessful, I would under the laser laparoscopy procedure to see what was going on down there.

I was 5 days before my expected and very regular 27 day cycle period, and like most of you out there was pretty much addicted to peeing on a stick every month.... (I wonder how much $$ I spent over the last 2 1/2 years...LOL). I use the Clear Blue Digital Tests so there is no mistaking and no "is there a line, is there not a line" debates within my brain. Just as I had suspected, NOT PREGNANT showed up pretty much right away, so the test goes into the trash and I accept the fact that another round of Clomid and IUI are around the corner.

At this point, I felt EXACTLY like I was getting my period. I mean, there was not one single thing that would have led me to believe otherwise. But never the less.... just in case.... the next morning, 4 days before my expected period, I took another digital test. Left it on the counter, had my coffee, let the dogs out, ate breakfast. When I came back in to take a shower, I grabbed the test, threw it into the trash and saw PREGNANT 1-2 WEEKS. I swear I stared at it in silence for about 3 minutes before asking my dogs if they saw what I saw.... LOL! I took 7 more digital tests that day and all were PREGNANT 1-2 WEEKS. My compulsive testing continued until those tests read PREGNANT 3+ WEEKS.

I am now 13 weeks pregnant, my husband and I heard the heart beat of our little one just the other day. We pray every night and thank the man upstairs for blessing us with such a wonderful gift, and we pray this baby will be healthy and happy!

:) BFP on 3rd Clomid+IUI Cycle YAY

Dear ladies,

It's been a pleasure reading all your success stories over the past year, and I am very excited to be able to post my experience with the 2ww. Shortly, my DH and I (both 35 yo) have been trying TTC on our own for 2 years, and then went to an RE for help. Since we were dx u n e x p l a i n e d the doctor suggested 3 months of 100mg of Clomid + IUI. After the three months we would meet again and discus other options.
The first two months nothing happened even though I developed several mature follicles, and my DH's samples were perfect. At the beginning on the third assisted cycle we decided it would be our last. I also had to go out of country for 10 days, and was not even monitored, but the day after I got back I had my last IUI (two days after a positive OPK). 14dpiui I did an HCG blood test and a day later (yesterday) I got a call from the clinic. :) The test was positive (HCG=40) and I had to listen to the voice mail several times before I started believing it was true! And then I cried.... :)

1-6dpiui nothing, but I noticed normal cm (Clomid usually makes it disappear), vivid dreams
7dpiui some cramping in the uterine area, vivid dreams
8-12dpiui fatigue; I even had to take a nap to get rested, vivid dreams
13-14dpiui bloated, fatigue, cramping, vivid dreams
14dpiui BFP :)
15dpiui bloated, fatigue, cramping, vivid dreams
16dpiui Woke up at 4:30 and could not go back to sleep :) Temp still up (36.9C); Feeling good.

Was this any different from my other 2ww's?
A few things a little different I noticed were:
- more vivid dreams than ever
- fatigue
- no spotting 13-15dpiui (I usually spot before AF)

Thank you for reading my story. I hope yours is a happy one too! :)
Good luck and have a wonderful life!!!
xoxoxo

BFP after 11 Months! First Round of Clomid

DH and I have been trying to conceive for about a year - 8 months in I changed doctors. After blood work I found out I ovulate but it was weak :( First round of Clomid and I got my BFP this morning! This site has been very helpful to me so I wanted to share.

cd 5-9 Clomid (FYI - Clomid made me very weepy and sad this is not my personality at all - felt like I was in a fog - horrible feeling).
BD - cd 5,6,7, 12, 14, 15
OV - cd 16 1-4 DPO - nothing
5 DPO (went for CD 21 blood work) - levels are great! Really weird pains in legs all night - didn't sleep well.
6 DPO - extremely fatigue felt horrible slept a lot
7 DPO - more fatigue
8 DPO - tons of cramps during the day - feels like period, cramps gone by night
9 DPO - stabbing feeling in right side throughout the night. Temp was higher today than any other day (98.21)
10 DPO - crying a lot, weepy and sad, blurred vision, bm, light poking right side at night HPT - negative
11 DPO - crying a lot, weepy and sad, a little cramps and nausea
12 DPO - temp dropped to 97.52 - my lp is usually right around 10 days. I thought I was out and AF was on her way but I didn't have any cramps etc. I remembered reading some people have a dip around this time and it goes right back up so I didn't give up all hope. HPT negative
13 DPO - temp went back up to 98.09 took at regular HPT very very faint +, ran to the store and bought FRER and the BFP showed up! We've been at it non-stop for almost a year. We were getting discouraged but kept praying and kept at it. Now we are praying that it sticks! Calling my doctor on Monday for a blood test.

Over the last 11 months I thought I was pregnant at least 6 times. I had all sorts of "symptoms" that I now believe were connected to my low progesterone. My symptoms were much less this month. The stabbing in my right side and the crying and being sad gave me hope this month. I am not an "overly emotional person" but this month I was getting on my own nerves with all the crying and sadness.

Finally!! Best to Stop Trying....Who Knew?

After a year and half of unsuccessful not-preventing-so-let's-see-what- happens, we decided to seek professional help. I was 37 at the time (now almost 39) and my husband 43 (we found each other a little late in life). Neither of us have children and I never tried to get pregnant before so didn't realize how difficult it really is!! I do have endometriosis so figured I may have some issues so when we found our RE we thought that it would be pretty simple with a little help. 5 rounds of Clomid and 3 rounds of IUI and nothing. I did have a chemical pregnancy on our 2nd IUI but nothing at our 3rd. At that point my RE recommended other options but since I was not considered a good candidate for IVF (low reserve) we thought about egg donors but it was just too much!

Our last IUI was in March 2012 and we decided to not try anymore. The whole thing became just too disappointing and stressful. So, we figured, we love our life and each other and we could devote our time to other family members and activities and maybe spend our lives doing things our friends with kids can't. :-) It actually sounded pretty good to us so we booked a cruise and planned a great trip to Europe in 2013.

I got a BFP on 5/22/2012 and the best part is we only did the deed once after my LMP on 4/20/2012. Yeah, once. We were in the midst of planning our wedding (married 5/11/2012) and had A LOT going on.

At 4:15am on 5/22 I decided that being 4 days late warranted a call to the doc b/c I have NEVER been late but maybe I should rule out pregnancy. I didn't know the lines showed up that fast. I barely put the test down and it was all aglow with PREGNANT!!!!

As for symptoms = sore BBs; occasionally a wave of nausea comes over me and I'm pretty dang tired. But it's not even every day. Just when I think, oh no, I feel nothing, what's wrong? The next day I spend 3 hours nauseous.

My HCG levels have been rising nicely and my first U/S is in 2 days and I can hardly contain myself. I am trying to be positive but the lack of symptoms freaks me out so I remain cautious but extremely hopeful!

It can happen and I just think you have to be willing to accept either outcome. Be willing and happy to have children or willing and happy to move on without children. Your life will be fantastic either way. I know, regardless of the outcome of this pregnancy, I will be so grateful for my life and my husband and that I found the love of my life at 37. I'll be holding out hope that the next love of my life will arrive in about 7.5 months :-)

Here's to all those women trying and my hopes and prayers to us all for success!

BFP on Clomid Cycle 5

BFP After 5 months on Clomid = Over the Moon

My periods have been irregular since I went off of Depo-Provera almost 2 years ago, so I knew TTC would be a challenge. Last fall, I decided to try to regulate my cycle naturally with Vitex , acupuncture and Provera to bring on a period. It helped some, but not enough. So in Dec 2011 we decided to try Clomid. Now after 5 frustrating months of Clomid, low progesterone and wacky unpredictable cycles, I finally have my BFP. It was to be our final month trying at home (My partner and I have been inseminating with fresh sperm at home. We are lesbians.)
I had an appointment scheduled with an RE to start the IUI process. I have never been happier to cancel a DR's appointment.

This month -OPK's- I had acupuncture before and after ovulation (I highly recommend this. It is not magic but it relaxes you and definitely helped bring on ovulation), used a small dose of Pre-Seed some days, took 100mg Clomid days 3-7, Fertile CM, B6, baby aspirin and 200mg prometrium vaginally starting 3DPO and on. I also took Mucinex on my fertile days.

This month felt different from the beginning. The first thing I noticed was that my nipples did not get sore after ovulation like they usually do but my breasts were tender the ENTIRE time deep aching pains. I was also incredibly thirsty for most of the 2ww.

Here are the rest of my symptoms:

CD 14- watery cm, o pain -home insemination
CD15- positive OPK =ovulation day-Pre-Seed-home insemination-watery cm, o pain, vivid dreams

DPO1 – home insemination – Pre-Seed
DPO2 - diarrhea, vivid dreams
DPO3 - backache, bloated, diarrhea, gassy- acupuncture
DPO4 - backache, constipated
DPO5 - backache, lightheaded
DPO6 - left side pain, backache
DPO7 - mild cramps,backache,vivid dreams,small temp dip
DPO8 - same + temp spike dpo9 - same + lightheaded
DPO10 – same + fatigue, mild nausea
DPO11 - felt good early in the day went for 3 mile hike but later lightheaded, diarrhea, nausea felt just plain crappy decide to test see faint line almost right away on internet cheapie
DPO12 - BFP with FMU on FRER- constipated, mild cramping and pressure, starving- pregnant on EPT digital
DPO13 – constipation, mild cramping and pressure, lightheaded, sensitive nose and exhausted

I am overjoyed it has been a long 5 months I can't believe its real.

BFP's and babydust to all and to the ladies having a tough time don't give up it will be worth the wait.

Secondary Infertility; 38 and Overweight

I have deliberated whether to write, as things are so fragile and new, but decided to share my story with the intent to bring hope to others. I am 38; DH is 41 - we conceived our first child 5 years ago without effort. Assuming #2 would be as easy, we decided to wait and well, when we were ready to try or bodies weren't :(

I spent 1 year "on my own" trying, then sought the help of a specialist who turned me a way as I was overweight (I am size 18); so I cried, tried to lose weight, and well, nothing. Found a new Dr, who welcome with open arms.

There was no official reason for our issues. DH was fine, I was fine. We did 5 rounds of Clomid - nothing. Then Clomid with IUI - Nothing. My insurance didn't cover IVF and truthfully I was very nervous to go there. We had one last attempt at IUI - and we started looking into adoption.

This time, we did the Gonal pen and trigger shot. The day of IUI, was a Sunday, and we used the "on call" Dr, who said DH counts were low and not to count on this working. Needless to say, I was devastated.

We DB for the next few days; all the time feeling very sad and hopeless. On about 11 DPO, I was convinced AF was coming. Horrible cramps. I called my Dr to advise we were out.

The only thing different this month as in past, we my boobs - HURT so bad (but I thought was from all the meds)

Sure enough, on 13 DPO we got a faint BFP. We were in shock - denial almost. We are now 7wks (saw heart beat yesterday) and graduated to OBGYN.

The strangest things were the cramps - how horrible and the soreness above.

We have a very strong faith in God and prayed every day. We believe this is a gift from God and hope our little bean sticks with us.

Don't lose faith - there is hope!! God Bless & baby dust to all.

BFP @ 11dpo, TTC for 12 Months with Irregular Cycles

We have been TTC #2 for 12 months. I was due to start fertility treatment next month (Clomid) due to my irregular cycles - which have been ranging from 30 - 45 days. So happy to get the BFP at 11DPO. This month I didn't test from 7DPO like a nutter, in fact I have still been having the odd tipple as I really thought it wasn't going to happen without treatment. I've had very few symptoms and it was only the spotting (I'm guessing implantation) that made me test. I ovulated on CD20, so there's hope for all you late ovulators out there!

CD 20 - BD & Ovulation (according to fertility friend)
1DPO - nothing
2DPO - sore bb's
3-4DPO - nothing
5-7DPO - a new spot each day (I do get spots, but they appeared in random places on my face rather than the usual T zone)
8DPO - nothing
9DPO - when I bent down to pick up something from the bottom shelf in a shop, very dizzy when I stood up, in fact I couldn't see straight for a couple of seconds
10DPO - spotting at 10pm at night. Just a little red blood when I wiped. Thought this was very strange, but didn't get my hopes up.
11DPO - The red blood, had turned brown, only a little on a panty liner. Before I got in the shower, I did an ovulation test on a whim with FMU (too chicken to do the real thing), it came back positive almost straight away!. Plucked up courage to use a Superdrug pregnancy test that has been sitting in my draw. Strong BFP. Tell hubby and cry with happiness! Also took another test during the day which also came back with a strong BFP.

When I was pregnant with my first, my bb's were on FIRE from 6DPO, this time round I've hardly had a peep out of them. I conceived my first from ovulating on CD17 and this one at CD20, so it can definitely happen when ovulation doesn't happen at the textbook CD14.

One other thing...my hubby gave up hot baths (showers only!) about 2 months ago. His semen analysis from around a month ago was very good, my fertility consultant even commented on how good it was. It was much improved to one he has done when he was taking regular baths.

Good luck everyone!

BFP With PCOS and Clomid

I just got my BFP! I am 10 dpo. Husband and I tried for about 6 months with no luck, then doctor diagnosed PCOS and put me on Clomid (100mg, days 3-7). This was my first month on the Clomid, and I am also taking progesterone supplements currently. Normally I take those started about 2-12 dpo and then stop them to make my period start, but doc will likely give me a bigger prescription to keep me on it for the whole first trimester because of my PCOS (I make very little progesterone on my own).

I started feeling symptoms about 4 dpo, and I thought I had to be imagining things, or that maybe it was the Clomid/progesterone mix playing mind games with me.

4-6 dpo: Just "felt pregnant;" sore nipples, backache. I have had the sore nipples every cycle with the progesterone, so I tried not to get my hopes up. I also had slight nausea on day 6, but it was during a car ride and I chalked it up to motion sickness.
7 dpo: Very tired, and a different kind of tired than normal. It reminded me of pulling all nighters in my college days; that slightly delirious feeling where you feel like you could probably just close your eyes and fall asleep while standing up. I tried to explain this away because I had stayed up late the night before and not slept well. Slight cramps, which is normal at this point in my cycle because of the progesterone.
8 dpo: I had half a beer at a party (none of our friends know we're TTC, I slipped it to my husband when no one was looking), and joked to my husband later that of course I would end up pregnant now that I had let a sip of beer past my lips.
9 dpo: Nipples not as sore and backache gone; assume I am out for this month and start planning next Clomid cycle. Slight nausea. I feel more emotional than usual, which is very out of character for me.
10 dpo: BFP! Husband was with me, we are beyond excited. I am technically only 3w5d, which is ridiculously early for telling people. I have had to pee about 500 times today, and I was exhausted mid-afternoon. Light nausea comes and goes; seems to get a little better if I eat something.

Hopefully this pregnancy will "take" and I can carry it full term. I'm very excited to tell my parents and in-laws on Father's Day!

It Took Much Longer Second Time Around!

This site has been my saviour in the last 8 months so I'm hoping my story can offer some support too!

First time around with our 2.5yr old daughter, we hit the jackpot the first month. This time, it's taken 8 long and stressful months and 2 rounds of Clomid.

After 6mths trying I went to get checked out and was told by the specialist it was unlikely I was ovulating.

This was a shock because every month I had an OPK+ on or around day 14/15 plus OV cramps. My cycles had suddenly started to become a bit shorter after being a 28 day girl all my life, so I guess that was an indicator. They suspected I was gearing up to release an egg but for whatever reason I wasn't.

So after a month on 50mg Clomid, then a second month on 100mg I now have my BFP! I really cannot praise my specialist and Clomid enough. I know so many ladies having problems second time around and I just wish I'd gone to get checked out sooner.

Anyway, I was a serial symptom spotter so here's mine to add to the mix...!

1-8dpo - nothing
9 dpo - slight BB tenderness (normal for this time of the month)
10 dpo - BBs getting more sore (normal).
11dpo - BB tenderness increasing (normal), feeling v tired at 2pm, had to take a nap! Increased thick CM (unusual) EXTREME BLOATING! Beyond belief in fact! So strange as I have quite a flat tummy but today I look 6 months pregnant.
12 dpo - BB tenderness coming and going - more at night. Still quite bloated. Had to take a quick power nap at 230pm.
13 dpo - BB's not really sore anymore, maybe a bit at night (probably because I keep prodding them!) Convinced AF is coming because the BB tenderness has subsided. Slight uterine twinges. Think it's AF coming. Another nap at 230. If I'm not pregnant there is something wrong!
14 dpo - Woke up at 3.30am feeling extremely nauseous and BB's sore again. Yey! I knew from that moment I was pregnant. That unmistakable morning sickness feeling. Went out first thing and bought a FRER and didn't even have to wait. Those two beautiful lines showed up immediately. Twinges on and off all day
15 dpo 3.30am nausea again. Great. Here we go...!

Wishing you all the success in the world and here's to lots of healthy and happy little 2013 babies!
