Metformin miracle!

So excited to finally get to put my BFP story here!

First, a little background. My husband I decided to start trying for our rainbow in December of 2016. I had my IUD removed and was so excited to get started. Unfortunately, I've always had extremely irregular cycles, and in all of 2016 I only ended up having 4 very long cycles, with only 2 of them being ovulatory. After trying so many different methods and supplements to regulate my cycle on my own, I finally went to the doctor after a full year of trying. I was pretty quickly diagnosed with PCOS (which explained A LOT) and presribed Metformin. I was skeptical that the Metformin alone would get me ovulating, but my first cycle after I started taking it I not only ovulated, but relatively on time (CD 21)! Unfortunately, that cycle didn't end up with a BFP, but the very next cycle did! Here's a rundown of my symptoms leading to the BFP:

CD 28: O day. It was a little later than I would like, but at least I O'd!
1-3 DPO: Usual post O symptoms, cramping, a little tired, sore breasts (very normal TWW symptom for me)
4-6 DPO: Lots of strange cramps and twinges, some sharp stabbing pains
7 DPO: Still feeling my usual TWW symptoms, feeling very thirsty and very bloated
8 DPO: Took an HPT in the AM, knowing it was way too early but swear I see a very faint line. Eventually chalk it up to being an indent. Feeling very thirsty and very frequent urination - both of which are unusual for me. Breasts very sore and swollen, more than normal.
9-10 DPO: Feels like my breasts have grown a cup size. BFN's both days, which was a big let down after the faint line on 8 DPO. Counted myself out for the cycle and feeling very defeated. Still extremely thirsty and using the restroom a lot!
11 DPO: Took an HPT in the morning, and there was the faintest of lines. I was skeptical of it because it was an internet cheapie strip and I'd already been let down by the indent line a few days before. Starting to feel more hopeful though. Breasts are extremely sore and huge, very thristy, constantly feel like I need to pee. Very tired, although that's not unusual for me right before AF, not having much of an appetite and can't finish dinner, that was very strange.
12 DPO: Faint but definitely there BFP! I still didn't trust the cheapie strips so I bought a FRER on my lunch break and again, a faint but for sure there pink line! I couldn't believe it! Still tired and thirsty, very big and sore breasts, still don't have much of an appetite.
13 DPO- Now: Darker lines on the HPT's, starting to feel pregnant now.

Really the only symptoms during my TWW that were different than normal were being thirsty, frequent urination, and the loss of appetite. My biggest piece of advice would be to not wait to see the doctor if you're having very irregular or absent periods. I probably would have had that BFP a lot sooner had I gotten help earlier. There's a lot of information floating around about "miracle" supplements for PCOS and infertility and maybe they work for some, but really, if you're missing cycles you need to see a doctor who can help you find out why!

BFP 10dpo with PCOS

Skip to the bottom if you don't want the background story :)

My story: I've never had a normal period, partially due to having an eating disorder for many years. We went off birth control in August 2016 and I just knew getting pregnant wasn't going to be easy for us. I gained 80 pounds since 2012 and am now 165pds at 5'6" and can't lose weight no matter how hard I try.

I had one period between August and November. I had intense ovary pain (like someone poured icy hot over my ovaries) so I went in for an ultrasound. Ovaries had cysts all over them. OB wanted to wait a little longer but suspected PCOS.

I didn't have a period for another 90 days so I had another ultrasound in February 2017. Was officially diagnosed with PCOS and put on Metformin 500mg twice a day.

In March, I had spotting for two weeks. In Early April, I had spotting for five days. I guess they were sort of periods?

April 19th- Ovulation day: Temp 97.5. I got my first blazing positive OPK ever. I hadn't been using OPKs because I gave up on them but I was having sore nipples and lots of CM so I decided to take one (haven't had these symptoms since I was a teenager!). BD'd right away because I was so excited. We BD'd the night before too. Light menstrual-like cramping.
1dpo: Temp 98.16. sore, erect nipples continue. Light menstrual-like cramping.
2-3dpo: Temp 98.3. sore, erect nipples. Very little CM.
4dpo: Temp 98.67. Nipples slightly sore, light central cramping in uterus, left side pain (I usually have right side pain). Gassy and irritable. Menstrual cramps.
5 dpo: Temp 98.47. menstrual cramps, gassy
6 dpo: Temp 98.54. left side cramping/pain, no more sore nipples, noticed I had several BMs in one day (I'm usually constipated). White creamy CM mixed with watery CM. Restless sleep. Exhausted- nap on lunch break.
7 dpo- Temp 98.6. Exhausted. Waking up a lot throughout night. BFN.
8 dpo- Temp 98.48. Restless sleep. Hot flashes and burning sensation in uterus in the night. Weird dreams. DH dreamt we had a baby. Morning nausea. Right side twinges. Feeling off- shaky. Low back pain when I was in bed trying to fall asleep. BFN.
9 dpo- Temp 98.6 BFN. Pretty sure I'm out this cycle. Tired like I didn't sleep at all (I slept 9 hours). Left side twinges. I dreamt I was pregnant.
10dpo- Temp 98.61. Slightest of slight second line on a cheapie HPT. Convince myself it's an evap. Use SMU on First Response HPT and see a faint second line! Take four more tests, all with faint second line. Take digital clearblue in the afternoon- said Not Pregnant but it might just be too early and too diluted. Left sided twinges and menstrual cramps. "Background Nausea" where I feel slightly nauseous off and on but it isn't terrible.
11 dpo- BFP on First Response Digital!! Random morning nausea where I legitimately thought I was going to puke. Cramps.
12dpo- Blood test- HCG is 50 and Progesterone is 22! Consistently having cramps. Icy hot feeling on ovaries. Gas.
13dpo- Go in for ultrasound. Ovaries look good (no cysts!). Too early to see baby. Gas.
14dpo- Blood test- HCG 137 (good news, more than doubled in 48 hours like it's supposed to). Gas.
Hope this baby sticks! I'm cautiously optimistic.

10 years Infertility

10 years ago I married my husband and we immediately started trying for a baby. After a few years we found out I had PCOS, a short Lutheal phase wen I do manage to ovulate and premenopause. Devastated, but determined that it would happen we refused to give up. We tried to adopt and the mom changed her mind the day before the boy was born and after negative after negative, fertility treatments that just didn't work, and immense stress on our marriage we finally resigned to the fact it would never happen. Until 3 days ago when out of the blue I peed on that stick and got a double pink line.

I don't have periods I don't know when I ovulated and I'm not sure how far I am yet. But I couldn't stop myself from writing this. 5 pregnancy tests later and I still cannot believe it!

I started a new job working around lots of girls. 4 periods in the month of February. Lots of spotting all through march! No fertility meds for 5 years!

Here were the symptoms that made me test!

Day 1 of symptoms(march 15): My nipples looked so weird! Swollen and a bit darker but mostly puffy painful but not bad... I think AF is coming not just spotting. this lasts a week no other symptoms

.
Day 2: (second day of symptoms but this is a week after day 1) My nipples hurt so bad I can't wear a bra!

Day 3: (this is day after boobs) Peeing every hour. Cramping think AF is coming.

Day 4: boobs hurt so bad I take a pregnancy test BFN

Day 5: boobs hurt peeing all the time. Friend says I'm peeing too much. Husband says boobs look the same but I don't think so.

Day 6: boobs (nipples only) hurt!! Peeing! Feeling slightly nauseous but not too bad. Another pregnancy test BFN.

Day 7,8,9,10: same symptoms nothing new. Felt off didn't want to take last pregnancy test bc I knew I wasn't but woke up at 4 am to pee and could not help it. Clear as day BFP! ❤️❤️❤️ Still can't believe it. Getting cramps now and lots of back pain. Acne when I NEVER get pimples. I'm very excited and nervous but hopeful and grateful. Baby dust everyone.

NEVER GIVE UP!

I can remember the days of wanting to be someone writing on this board telling my story. I promised myself I would do it. There were so many days I would look at this board hoping my symptoms matched up with someone else's giving me that big fat positive. That actually never happened for me.... So here it is....

Oct 2015--first time ttc we got pregnant, only to start miscarrying about 5 days later which we later found out was ectopic...I was a lucky one in that I did not lose my tube or damage it. (Found that out with a hsg the following January)
In February 2016 we were giving the okay to start ttcing again! Yay! I was so optimistic. 6 mos later I was still not pregnant so we went to my ob/gyn to discuss options. It was suspected that I had mild PCOS and that using the fertility medication clomid would help. I took this 3 months in a row and had confirmed ovulation from blood work....still not pregnant.... we decided to stop the medication in November 2016 and seek additional help from a fertility specialist. I saw the specialist in January who also suggested a mild case of PCOS that would not be affecting my fertility. My husbands SA came back perfect. We decided to try an IUI (Just google it if you aren't familar). I was told that the first one has a chance of not working because they may miss my ovulation while learning my cycle, so I was cautiously optimistic. The next day after my first appt with the specialist I got my period! (I was SO excited for this) I began my medication (clomid again) on day 3-7 then went in for a follicle scan on day 12 that determined I had 2 great mature follicles and 1 potential (so possibly 3 Eggs) I was instructed to trigger shot on day 14 and have my iui on day 16. I had mild cramping on this day. The following symptoms are post iui....

Dpiui 1-11----not a single symptom! I normally get sore boobs about 7-10 dpo when I get bfn's so this was a little strange to me, but has fluctuated before so I didn't think much of it.
Dpiui 12----waves of nausea after lunch which I chalked up to me eating greasy chicken at lunch, I really didn't think much of this either.

I was instructed not to test until day 15 due to the hcg trigger shot potentially giving me a false positive, however the night before I was supposed to test my husband and I really wanted to go to the casino....and because if I was pregnant I wouldn't want to be around second hand smoke, I told him I'd go ahead and test and if there was no line we would go...because obvious it would be bfn....
It was BFP! With FRER. I took a digital one the next morning and it said positive 2-3weeks!

Then I was instructed to do blood work at 16dpiui...came back great at 346!
I was instructed to return 2 days later...bad news...it had only risen to 593 and the doctor would like to see it double....I was told to be cautiously optimistic. But they wanted a recheck in another 48 hrs....hcg was 979...still not doubling....after googling (mistake!!!) I read it could be ectopic....and my doctor asked if I could come in first thing Monday morning for an ultrasound to see if it was ectopic....I prayed. And prayed. And prayed. And asked everyone around me to pray. To my surprise, the baby was in my uterus, there was one baby and everything was measuring normally. (All we could see was a yolk sac at this point) yay! Two weeks later we saw a baby and heard a strong heart beat of 144 ❤️ And two weeks after that I saw my baby with arms and legs and measuring right at what it's supposed to.

My best suggestion is to NEVER give up hope, never stop praying. I stopped telling God what I wanted and started saying "if it is your will, will you please give me a child" I let go of the control and just put my faith in God. I'm not saying this will be God's will for everyone but he always has the greatest plan in mind. Just trust him.

I'm 10 weeks pregnant now and continue to pray for God to keep his hand on this pregnancy. I pray for each one of you reading this that God will answer your prayers. He will.

Lean PCOS, 2nd Femara Round, BFP at 13DPO

Hi ladies,

I wanted to share my BFP story to give some hope as so many of these stories helped me during our journey to conception.

Background: me 29 lean PCOS with anovulatory/irregular cycles, DH 33 all normal. TTC for 3 months but I've been preparing my body for pregnancy for about 6 months thinking we would have a long journey ahead of us. I've been off BC for almost 2 years and was diagnosed with lean PCOS in October of 2016. Fertility testing revealed I had an AMH level of 11.6 in December, that same month I was put on Provera to bring on my period as I hadn't had it in almost 3 months. My next cycle was 56 days long (I did finally ovulate on my own!) and in January I started round 1 of Femara at 2.5 mg. I ovulated on CD 18 and had every pregnancy symptom in the book but it was all just PMS; after not ovulating for a few months I had forgotten how awful the luteal phase (a record 15 days long) could be.

In February I started my second round of Femara, 2.5 mg, and decided to really relax, pray and trust my body and The Lord to make things happen. I temp every morning, use OPKS during my expected fertile time, drink raspberry leaf tea and take CoQ10, magnesium, B complex, a prenatal and Zinc with chelated copper. I've cut out all gluten, most cow dairy, all caffeine, all soy and curbed my sugar and alcohol intake since September 2016. I read Taking Charge of your Fertility and WomanCode and exercised frequently. As far as BD goes, we used Preseed, Soft Cups (when they didn't totally hurt me!) and lying with hips elevated for an hour or so after each time.

I didn't record much day to day, I was trying to be really cool and relaxed about it all (cannot recommend enough), but here's what I noticed was different:

+ OPKs on CD 15 & 16
O on CD 17
BD on CD 13, CD 15, twice CD 16, CD 17

1-4 DPO: my boobs aren't the least bit sore, they always are right after O. Can't catch my breath sort of anxiety for no reason and major insomnia that hit right at 4 am each morning.
3 DPO: I had a fall back rise, a temp well below the coverline that I've never had before indicative of an estrogen surge
4 DPO: had a urine test done at GP and I had an elevated white blood cell count, perhaps a super early sign?
5 DPO: boobs start to hurt, awful "throwing up in my mouth a little bit" all day, thought it might have been from the wine I had at lunch (we were on a weekend getaway and I threw caution to the wind alcohol wise!)
My CM went from yellow-y EWCM 2-4 DPO to stiff creamy peaks, I had a ton of it everyday when I checked CP, to shiny lotion-y when I wiped.
Freezing all day and all night, I cannot warm up.
Lots of twinges and little cramps in ovaries.
Instead of my usual upset stomach and diarrhea during the TWW, I was a little bit constipated.
7 DPO I had a little bit of blood when I blew my nose.
10 DPO by boobs are canon balls, veins are all over them, my stomach and upper thighs.
I'm in the best mood ever compared to the deranged tyrant I usually am in the TWW.
No acne! Unheard of for me.
13 DPO I took two digital tests (all I had!) in the afternoon and both were BFP!
15 DPO & 17 DPO FRERs come up BFP right away!
Present symptoms: nausea waves, they're a real thing! Boobs are extra swollen and very tender. Some ovulation type cramping and lower back ache. Outrageous thirst and frequent urination. Napping and going to bed at 9:30 every night. I am not complaining about any of it!

I am praying for a healthy nine months and for each and every one of you to get your BFPs!

BFP at 12DPO after 2 years of trying...

I have been visiting this web site since few months and It helped me a lot with my two week wait and with all my crazy questions. Finally got my BFP on March 2nd on a dollar tree HPT. Blood test same day and again after a week, both came positive and normal. Having my 7 weeks ultrasound this March 23rd. hoping to hear the heartbeats.

My journey:
I have PCOS and my cycles were really long. Metformin, yoga and PCOS diet (low carbs) helped with my cycles and I lost over 25 pounds since last year. My cycles started getting regular and shorter, between 32 to 37 for last four months which is great for a PCOS patient. I started ovulating on my own and exactly cycle date 17-18. Before I was not sure if I was ovulating since my cycles were very unpredictable. This was my 4th round of clomid 50 mg and got my BFP at 12 DPO.

Things we tried this cycle:
Clomid (day 5-9)
Preseed
soft cups (highly recommend)
Ovasitol
metformin

My symptoms:

Sore and tender breasts
frequent trips to bathroom
strong smell
very light on and of cramps
light spotting

Do not loose hope or stress yourself. God has better plans for us. I thank god every single day now:))

Bfp!!!!!

I can't believe it! Got a bfp this morning!! (It's still only 5.52 am!! Haha!). Have been testing since 9dpo and nothing. Today is 15dpo and af is 1-2 days late. I thought I was out this month - yesterday was feeling def symptoms of af but it usually comes at night and nothing so I decided to test again. I can't believe it!! I know this is going to make some people hate me but this is our first month of trying and we actually only did it once around ovulation so I'm kind of in shock. I have been having def symptoms though really since about 3-4 dpo.

3-6dpo felt a bit nauseous and had tingling bbs. Also really thirsty. Some bleeding gums.
7dpo sudden bout of terrible diarrhoea in the night. Felt suddenly sick then too and wondered if I might pass out.
8dpo felt sudden sharp twinge in uterus.also picked up a bit of a cold and completely lost my voice plus sores on my tongue appeared. Incredibley tired.
9-11dpo really hungry. Some nausea but not all the time. More bleeding gums. Bfn
8-13dpo more nausea and tingling, prickly bbs. Bfn
14dpo lower abdomen cramps like af coming. Bfn
15dpo bfp!!! Nausea

So don't give up on your bfp ladies!! With my other children I got early bfps so was expecting the same for this one so thought I must be out when I got to 15dpo. I'm going to be 40 in Nov so was expecting things to be trickier this time (had dd#3 when I was 35). Obviously I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything is ok but just can't believe it worked!!!!

Thank you to all the earlier posters who kept me going through the tww xxxx

BFP after 2 years of trying!

I have PCOS, and man was it a roller coaster trying to get pregnant. This month, I'll tell you everything we changed, we changed a lot of things, so not sure which one exactly helped us. Here it goes

My husband quit smoking 3 months ago.

This month, he had given up alcohol for lent and I'd given up sweets. (no processed sugar)

We used the last of our pre-seed

I drank red raspberry leaf tea every day this month

We've been consistently exercising the past 2 months, and I have lost nearly 20 lbs.

We have sex EVERY day after my period ended. Every day. That way, we wouldn't miss ovulation.

Now for symptoms.

During Ovulation, I had intense sex drive. I wanted to hump my hubby all day lol sorry TMI, usual ovulation cramps, and some sore boobs that only lasted 2 days.

1-9 DPO nothing really a little backache, occasionally, but that's normal for me, so I ignored it. The thing that stood out during this time was insanely vivid dreams, not about being pregnant, just in general.

10 DPO, I noticed that my CM wasn't drying up like normal, and that it was kind of a creamy watery mix, and there was a lot of it (this continues today). I also experienced a kind of flushing of my face on and off for the next few days. Little insomnia. Spotting, though AF was on the way, but then nothing for the rest of the day or subsequent days.

11 DPO My breasts started to feel full, again not unusual, no pain just full, and I was exhausted. I was tentative to say this was a symptom, because we've had some long days while moving, but man was I pooped. Fullness in my lower abdomen like I've never really felt. It was almost like it was full and firmer than the rest of my tummy.

12 DPO I was so tired again, incredibly thirsty. I couldn't get enough water which is strange because I keep pretty well hydrated, I had a backache, dizziness in the afternoon, and my boobs were sore. I also noticed my actual nipples seemed to be a little wider and more perky than usual.

13 DPO, I finally took a test middle of the day with no hold, and I got a positive immediately! So excited to tell hubby!

PCOS, Clomid, IUI * no injectables

Quick back story:
I was diagnosed with PCOS at 18. I have always watched my weight, ate healthy and worked out! I am not a tooth pick by any means but 5'6 and 146 lbs. I had my son two years ago, he's a clomid baby and an iui was not needed. After my son I went back to working out, eating healthy and began to ovulate on my own! YAY!

My husband was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma last year and it put a halt on our family planning. After being put on a wait list for the fertility clinic we waited a long 8 months before getting the first appt to come in! (We are unable to conceive on our own due to chemotherapy, we must wait a minimum of 18 months before his little friends are safe) SO he froze some for me before the treatment and here we are... P.S. my husband is now in remission.

Alright, so fast track forward to February, I got AF on Feb 15/17. Clomid was taken day 3-7 during this cycle and I caught the LH surge on March 2nd, went in the next day for IUI March 3rd (CD 18)

This was my first ever IUI!

Symptoms!

Day 0 - right ovary in pain, lower back ache! Day of IUI!
1 dpo - bloated, immediately apparently a side effect of clomid? Ovary pain gone so I assume the egg is out!
2 - 3 dpo - bloated
4 dpo - implantation I believe, two sharp pricks in the uterus a feeling of an egg being burrowed in.
5 dpo - bloating, bouts of nausea, head ache. Seriously gassy, I could clear a room
6 dpo - tested with a dollar store cheapie, why?!? Waaaaay to early totally a BFN no nausea today but a head ache, bloated, gassy.. I could knock someone out.
7 dpo - bloated, gassy, head ache, low back sore, nausea, hungry, tired ,right nipple is sore but I'm chalking it up to me feeling them up looking for soreness haha.
8 - 9 dpo - same as above but breasts are rediculously sore, I said to my husband "I don't even need to test, I'm pregnant"
10 dpo - 6am tested with a FRER and FMU BFP!!!!!!!! Its a squinter but its totally there. No nausea today but I'm still bloated and my boobs are sore sore sore. Tired and hungry!

I also ate a toasted tomato, turkey, lettuce and cheese sandwich every day with a pickle on the side... May or may not be a symptom.

I wanted to post this on here because you can seriously get symptoms early! I had no idea.. I actually brushed a lot of of it off as clomid side effects (although I have taken it before) but the nausea was a give away.

Baby dust to all!!!

BFP 9 dpo 1st Round of Clomid

Hi All!

I can't believe I am finally writing this. My husband and I have been TTC for over a year. My periods were pretty much non-existent other than occasional spotting, so I knew my chances were pretty much 0. 6 months ago, I was diagnosed with PCOS. I am 5,4", 135 pounds, no insulin resistance, so not your typical PCOS. I was shocked. I was put on Progesterone cycle days 14-28 to induce periods, and she said it may throw me into a cycle. Several months ago I got a positive OPK and was so excited but my progesterone came back at 5 and I was told I did not ovulate. Last month, after TTC 1 year, I was put on clomid 50 my. I got a positive OPK on day 18 and my progesterone came back at 17.5! We BD'd almost every day the week and a half before I ended up ovulating and the day I ovulated. We also used pre-seed because I don't have a lot of CM.

I was sure I wouldn't get pregnant the first month, although it was hard not to symptom spot. I also temped. My bbt dropped on day 18 and spiked after that. I had a dip in my bbt around 5 dpo and got my faint but positive BFP on first response on 9 dpo (on our first day of vacation with my family).

My symptoms:
-DPO 1-8: sore nipples from the time I ovulated, but this was most likely from ovulation because it faded away when I got my BFP.
-9 DPO morning: told my sister I thought I was out this month. Very little symptoms and didn't "feel" pregnant.
-9 DPO afternoon: weird twinges/cramping in my uterus. Wanted to drink a beer on the beach but had this feeling I should test first. Tested in the middle of the day with only a 1 hour hold and got my BFP! I was in shock!
10 DPO - now: AF-like cramping comes and goes. My OB says it's totally normal.
13 DPO: some light pink/red spotting when I wiped but it went away the next day. Could have been do to intercourse.
17 DPO: BETA 378 :)
5 weeks pregnant: my breasts became very full and super tender. It hurts to even walk down the stairs.

I am now 5 weeks and 2 days pregnant. Still crampy occasionally and sharp jolts to my pubis. I am so happy. Hang in there ladies. I know it feels like it will never happen, and my heart goes out to everyone who struggles with infertility. I know many have a harder road than myself. Baby dust to all. Fingers crossed that I will have an uneventful 9 months!
