Finally got my BFP after 5 long months! (with PCOS)

I can't even believe I am typing this right now... I'm still in shock. I'M SO EXCITED!!!!

I've stalked this site, like most of you, all five months, and it kept me sane. Thanks to all for posting their stories.

I dont always ovulate (I have PCOS) and my doc was about to put me on clomid next cycle! Funny how it works out like that... I also ovulate a bit late when I do (about CD 16 or 17). This time I felt the lovely cramps in my right ovary and told DH we gotta work it. We also had randomly (no planning or anything) BD'd the day before. So we only really only did it two times (which is funny cuz all the other months I was super strict about doing it every day during the fertile time!)

1-4 DPO: nothing
5 DPO: SO TIRED. Slept most of the day.
6 DPO: Even more TIRED, slept all day, and sore nips - tested BFN
7 DPO: still tired, though not as much, and really sore bbs - tested BFN
8 DPO: soreness of bbs have gone way down, though nips still a little sore, but still feel a bit disappointed - tested BFN
9 DPO: just sore nips (and only when I tough them), nothing else. Pretty sure I'm out another month. - another BFN
10 DPO: omg I felt REALLY sick this day. I mean nasty sick. Got the runs (sorry TMI) and super nauseous. had to stay home from work it was so bad. Felt super dizzy too. Thought I either ate something or was preggo. - still a BFN
11 DPO (today!): I was supposed to get AF today, but woke up with nothing. Decided to test on internet cheapie and nothing. An hour later came back upstairs and saw a super faint line! Thought it was an evap or something, so I help in my pee for a couple hours and then took three different tests including a digital and all were BFP!!!! YAY!!! DH is overjoyed too!! :D

I also had random symptoms like eye twitches and leg cramps. I had barely any (if any) cramping.

I know it's till super early, and I REALLY hope and pray this little miracle sticks!!! BABY DUST to all that want it!!!!

Miracle natural BFP with PCOS

My husband (28) and I (24) have been married for 4 and a half years and have been actively trying to conceive for 3 years.  I was diagnosed with PCOS 2 years ago.  Since then I have done 4 rounds of clomid with 1 iui and 1 round of femara with an iui.  After all of those attempts had failed, my doctor said I should start looking into IVF and start saving.  I couldn't believe he was giving up on me and pretty much said my only viable option would be IVF. Well, my husband and I decided to keep going through with the drug treatments until we had enough saved up for IVF.  Then in May, I was sent out of state for work and was unable to take the meds that month.  When I got home I just decided to wait for my period to start so I could go back for a refill of femara, but to my surprise it never showed and I'm now 7 weeks pregnant.

1-3dpo: nothing notable
4dpo: I could smell everything!  I was sitting in training at work and could smell the paper on my desk, also I could smell the newspaper that was a few feet from me.
5dpo-9dpo: tired and irritated with my husband, I couldn't help it either. Thought my period was coming.
10dpo: sore boobs began, thought it was due to my period coming or the gym class I did the day before.
11dpo: fell asleep during the new Transformers movie! I was soo tired. I bought a dollar tree test and got a BFN.
12dpo-14dpo: tired, boobs still sore
15dpo: still no period so I took a test and it was positive, I couldn't believe it that I took two more tests and both were BFP

I also asked my doctor if there was anything I could do to help with my PCOS symptoms, which he said "there is nothing."  I just didn’t believe him, so I researched and saw that diet was a big factor in PCOS symptoms, so I cut out the sugar in my morning coffee, passed on the donuts and ice cream and limited the amount of sugar, white refined flour and junk food I possibly could.  I have a lot of respect for doctors, they are very well educated but my pregnancy did not happen with their help but with my own research.  Lesson learned: you don’t have to settle for what the dr. says, question and research and do what you feel is best for you.

BFP with PCOS (after HSG)

We have been trying to get pregnant for a year and a half. I found out 9 months ago that I have PCOS so I was put on Clomid. Clomid was helping me ovulate but I had no success in getting pregnant. My doctor had mentioned doing an HSG test but I kept refusing because I was afraid of what I might find out. After the 7th cycle of Clomid and months of disappointment I finally agreed. I had the HSG test done on Day 8 of my cycle taking 150mg of Clomid. HSG test is where they insert a dye into you and take xrays of your uterus and fallopian tubes to see if there is blockage. Well the HSG showed everything was clear and open. I got my BFP on the same cycle as my HSG so it must have cleared some blockage!!!!! If your doctor suggests an HSG test, DONT FIGHT IT!! :) I am now 7 weeks pregnant and still in shock!

Symptoms:
I did not have any symptoms until after my period was late. I was VERY tired and cramping. I had swollen gums and a few bloody noses after blowing my nose.

BFP with second IVF

I am 34 and this was my second IVF. My first one ten years ago resulted in a BFP (triplets) then I a had a total SURPRISE bfp in 2004. After TTC again on our own, we learned not only did I have PCOS, Endometriosis but also blocked tubes. DH's SA was ok by HMO guidelines but we ended up having "rescue" ICSI done as his count was really low the day of egg retrevial. He had his appendix removed two weeks prior and the fever and infection they believe lowered his count. Here are my symptoms

We had ER done on 11/23 and ET on 11/26. It took seven days from transfer before any symptoms other than cramps began. If I am calculating it correctly that would be 10dpo right?

10dpo-mild heartburn, gassy and no cravings for anything sweet or chocolately.

11dpo-Worse heartburn, like reflux in my throat and mouth, craving chips, doritos, cheetos, no desire for chocolate.

12dpo-took an answer got a def line in about 1 minute, very gassy, huge veins across my chest, bbs and even down my arms.

13dpo-tested w/answer and it was darker than day before. veins are getting more prominent and running through aereolas. brutal heartburn. co worker decribes me as looking bloated, just as she did the last time i had a bfp and she didnt know about the ivf.

14dpo-tested am and pm. am test darker but def bfp almost right away. called and asked for early beta, RE said no! will have beta at 18dpo.

15dpo-18dpo still no cravings for sweets, nauseated, veins are popping up across my chest, neck, arms, Dh says I look like a human road map. Peeing at night begins and like clockwork when pregnant, regular BM.

Beta at 18dpo=691
Beta at 20dpo=1897

U/S at 7 weeks showed one baby w/hb of 178.

BFP Story & Symptoms with PCOS

I am so excited to be able to share my symptoms & encourage so many women out there? I would read the symptoms each day depending on how many dpo I was to see if I matched up! It was delightful to know other women look for ANYTHING to find out.
DH and I have been trying for over 4 years. Here is a summary. I have PCOS. Tried various infertility meds to no avail. We felt God leading us away from infertility treatments and I opted to try to lose weight and lost 55 pounds which got my cycles going again.. We have been foster parents for 2 years and have had our current foster daughter since she was 3 weeks. She is now 16 months and we are trying to adopt her. Stuff we did this cycle was use OPK's, BD before, during and after O, & used preseed for first time. I suspect I ovulated for the last 3-4 months. I have weird cycles so you will see this a very long cycle and I actually did not ovulate until 28-29 days later so I truly recommend OPK's for those who seem to struggle with the timing or have very unreliable periods. This really is so hard! We give glory to God for this amazing blessing and gift in ANOTHER child! Here goes. I am a little TOO detail oriented...

CD 1-8: Period begins and ends October 5-12, 07.

CD 17: Started seeing slightly stretchy CM

CD 18: Started OPK’s; some stretchy CM

CD 19-20: Sticky CM, day 20: BD with preseed.

CD 22: Slight stretchy CM, I am getting very mixed signals here!

CD 23: Estimated O day but CM is creamy and wet. Did not test with OPK today

CD 25: EWCM but not a lot. Took 2 OPK’s. First one neg but second one possible positive. Last cycle had questionable result but later discovered I had ovulated so I was not taking chances. BD with preseed.

CD 26: 2 OPK’s negative. BD with preseed. (just in case)

CD 27: Negative OPK in the AM. 2 possible positive OPK’s in PM. Exhausted from Halloween activities so no BD tonight. Boys are still in there from last night so I will take my chances.

CD 28: DEFINITE POSITIVE+++++ OPK!!!!! EWCM PRESENT! Took 4 tests because this was the first time I could see a definite +. First 3 had darker test line and last one had equal darkness. BD with preseed.

CD 29 or Possible O Day: Watery CM but OPK was + in AM, - in PM but had EWCM in the afternoon and dry in the evening. OK, this is sooooo weird. Kind of got frustrated and worried PCOS symptoms were back and I was showing elevated LH levels with no O. BD with preseed.

CD 30 or 1 DPO: Dry CM but detected a little EWCM later in the day. OPK positive in the morning but negative in afternoon and evening. A little crampy today. I may be dehydrated but cramps feel like gas or constipation. BM’s are fine. BD with preseed.

2 DPO: Crampy all day and had 2 BM’s. Gassy. Creamy and wet CM, kind of white and stretchy in the evening but would ball up after trying to stretch it. Slight light headedness. Headache for a bit but went away. No sore bb’s which usually happens at 2 dpo. So moody today and NOT nice to DH. Gotta work on that. Took nap in afternoon but I am not assuming anything with that. No way I could have PG symptoms at this point. But I do get VERY fatigued during TWW. Maybe all the BD wore me out!

3 DPO: Nothing unusual to report. Slightly crampy but still think it is a BM thing. Had BM and felt a bit better. OH yeah! A lot of creamy CM and vaginal entrance wet. NOT USUAL! I am usually uncomfortably dry after ovulation that I need a vaginal moisturizer for a few days. This may be due to using preseed but we have not used it for 2 days. Hmmmmm…hope it is something good! Still no sore bb’s which is also unusual. DH is not so dear to me, he is getting on my everlasting last nerve. I feel bad for him. He is nervous that if I am pg he will endure this for 8 months more.

4 DPO: OK. I am still dealing with the full, crampy feeling in my lower abdomen. For the past 2 or 3 days I am pooping like crazy (2-3x a day). I also felt a twinge in my right breast during a walk and then later in my left breast. This might be me looking for symptoms, though. CM is still slightly wet but sometimes it feels like AF is going on. I am usually so dry so this is weird. I am getting slight headaches and I feel like I am a cold coming on. Nothing specific but that feeling like your throat is scratchy and your getting a teeny but congested in the sinuses. Weird. But my BFF and her son are sick so I could have caught something from them. My leg fell asleep sitting at my desk. I was sitting on it like I normally do but it fell asleep in that it became absolutely numb. Not a usual thing for me. Lightheadedness but an O symptom for me. Feeling tired but also an O symptom as well. BB’s slightly tender. Still unusual not to have breast pain this many dpo.

EARLY PREGNANCY SYMPTOMS W/ PCOS

EARLY PREGNANCY SYMPTOMS W/PCOS My husband & I have been trying to conceive for about 1 year & have exercised more pointed efforts for about 7 months. This BFP was both a surprise & a blessing! Thank you Lord! We went to see an RE for the first time b/c 3 cycles of clomid failed. We wanted to switch to femara & escalate our efforts to make it happen this time. She told me I have a mild case of PCOS w/a very light resistance to insulin. So she put me on metformin & said I'd need to diet (low carb, low sugar), exercise (abt 3 x a week) & take the meds – all 3, not 1 or 2 – if I wanted to get pg. I also met w/a dietician that my RE recommended to help ensure I adopted a proper pcos compatible diet. I'm not one for exercising so that was a huge adjustment. The dietician helped me understand it by explaining that not only does exercise help w/weight loss, but it also aids the medication's effectiveness. I committed to the tri-fold plan & here is my story. Hopefully someone will be blessed by them as much as I have been blessed by reading others. 1 day before ovulation - took hcg novarel shot today, which i believe means i ovulate in 12-48 hours.

BFP with PCOS and Male Infertility Factor.

I would like to tell you about my story. I was married to someone else, before I married the love of my life. We tried to have a baby and it didn't work. I've known since I was 17 that I have PCOS. I was told at that time I would probably NEVER be able to have children. I did have a m/c in January of 1992. I had concieved my first angel without meds. After being single for 6 years I met my hubby. We were both in our late 20's, and I gave him EVERY oportunity to walk away and to find someone who could eventually give him the children that he wanted. But he assured me that he loved me, not for my ability to be able to have children. Two years after we met, I got pregnant with our now 4 year old son. How this happened......

On 9/11/01 we were down at Labcorp, for my dh to do an SA. It seems funny when we were trying to create life, our country was being torn apart. We found out he had a problem, but we couldn't fix the problem before he left for deployment in 2002.My dh found out he had a varicocele in august of 2002, and had surgery in october of 2002. I had lost all most 100 lbs in about 13 months (Ive gained it back plus some due to an injury to my lower back, but Im on my way back down. :) ) I took traditional chinese herbs, and followed a very strict diet and exercise routine. The infertility doctor at Portsmouth Naval Hospital gave me a new drug to try called Letrozole aka Femara. I was a little concerned about trying a med that was used for treating women with breast cancer. My dh had the varicocelectomy surgery on October 4, 2002. I had started my period on time that month (two days after he had surgery). Dh said why don't we try BD with the femara and see what happens. I was really
leary of us BDing with him, just having that surgery (he had a hernia repair several years prior), and I didn't want him to tear anything. He ASSURED me if anything hurt he would stop. The doctor said NO sex for up to 6 weeks after surgery. Well Dh was VERY INSISTENT that we BD, and so I took the femara days 5-9 and we BD for several days during my ovulation cycle. I waited for my period to come it never came.I figured it was my PCOS acting up again. I was irritable, miserable, moody, and I took an HPT and it was POSITIVE. My dh was skeptical of hpt's, so I went to the clinic on November 11, 2002, and got a qualitive beta, and it was POSITIVE. I was so very very thankful to be able to get pregnant with a new drug (which now has a black warning on the label to NOT be used for reproductive purposes according to the Dr. at Portsmouth Naval Hospital). I delivered our son at 33 weeks 5 days (June 4, 2003). He weighed 5 lbs and 4 oz, and he was 17 3/4 inches long. Our son is
now 4 years and is ALL boy. It is such a privlege to be the mom to this very special little boy. When I didn't think it would ever happen for me. .

I'm 35 now, and I just had ovarian drilling in January of 2006. I am losing weight, trying a different route this time around. Im again taking traditional chinese herbs, but ive added an even stricter diet since I found out that I have celiac diease (www.celiac.org) and I am working out alot more diligently. I am also seeing an acupuncturist, who is also a traditional chinese medicine doctor. She has helped many couples get pregnant and have healthy children. Im also doing reflexology, massage to help me relax more. Hopefully,
I will get another BFP soon,

I hope my story inspires those to never give up their dreams.

BFP on Clomid (with PCOS)

I just got my BFP and am very excited and surprised! This is baby #3 for us, and it was a planned pregnancy with Clomid. I have PCOS and have had difficulty conceiving with all three pregnancies. It took us a total of 5 ovulatory cycles to conceive this time, and I am 37 (three cycles naturally, and two with Clomid). I went on Clomid because I had only had 4 cycles in the previous 12 months due to my PCOS and wasn't ovulating regularly enough to try effectively. My age made us more aggressive to turn to Clomid pretty early in our process.

I was on the following medications to conceive:
Glucophage, 1000 mg / day for entire cycle
Clomid, 50 mg, days 3-7 (second month on Clomid)
estriadiol, 2 mg/day, days 8-14
*ovulated on day 14
Prometrium suppositories, 1 daily/200 mg, days 15- 26

I also took prenatal vitamins, 1 extra vitamin B6 (50 mg) daily, and used Pre-Seed around ovulation with BDing. I think adding the estradiol really helped, as I noticed much more EWCM around ovulation, even while on Clomid. Also, using the Glucophage along with the Clomid really worked well for me, since I hadn't responded to the low 50 mg dose of Clomid in the past.

3 DPO - I had really bad ovarian cramping for several hours. I wondered if this might be mild OHSS (ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome) as I was confident ovulation had occurred already, and I had taken Clomid.

4-5 DPO - nothing

6 DPO - felt sad and "blue" all day for no reason, very unlike me

7 DPO - very sad, burst into tears and sobbed heavily after listening to a sad song on the radio. I NEVER do this!

8 DPO - very irritable but couldn't seem to help it; got into a huge fight with DH over nothing. I felt completely out of control of my emotions

9 DPO - while in the shower, I looked down and noticed prominent blue veins on the tops of my arms and lower stomach. I have fair skin, so veins show up early, I took note of this and started getting excited for the first time. This was a huge clue, as many of my other symtoms could have just been the progesterone suppositories I was taking.

10 DPO - Veins still prominent, nipples began to darken and get tender when my bra was off, breasts started feeling heavy

12 DPO - felt very bloated and some of my pants felt tight in the waist

13 DPO - Took a home pregnancy test with FMU, and it was BFN. I was convinced that it was true and that my symptoms were just due to the extra progesterone.I was so disappointed.

14-15 DPO - Same symptoms with breasts, veins, and bloating continue. No period yet, but I had read that supplemental progesterone could delay it starting. Slight cramping and lower backache start, so I am convinced AF is coming and go buy tampons

16 DPO - wiped and saw very light brown after using the restroom. I was confident that my period was starting, especially since I had a BFN on a test a few days earlier. Backache and cramping continues.

17 DPO - My period still hadn't started. After that one brown smudge, there had been no more spotting. I decided to retest, but I still thought the progesterone was causing my symptoms (but I had been off it for 5 days at this point). The test was a light positive -- BFP!! I took three more tests, and they were all postive with a definite second line that was a bit lighter than the test line.

My OBGYN put me back on Prometrium (200 mg daily) when I called her about my BFP since I have a history of low progesterone levels. I will take it daily at least through my first trimester.

Baby dust to all of you! It CAN happen. I am a example of someone whose odds were against her with my age and infertility history, and it still worked. Don't give up!
