Early Pregnancy Symptoms and Big Fat Positives

BFP with Preseed

Pre-Seed, the sperm-friendly lubricant (and only lube that should be used while trying-to-conceive) is a staple of the TTC community. We love it, and we'd hazard a guess that all these ladies on this page with BFPs speak highly of it as well!

If you don't have Pre-Seed yet, we recommend you pick some up at Early-Pregnancy-Tests.com. It ships for free anywhere in the U.S. or Canada, and comes with free pregnancy tests. Can't beat that. And when you get your Pre-Seed assisted BFP and you're ready to give credit where credit is due, by all means, send us your symptoms here!

For those who don't *feel* pregnant!

i told myself as soon as I got a BFP, I'd share, so here I am! My husband and I used an OPK, we did the deed every day of fertile period and used preseed. I also took B6 vitamins, but it was only for a month. Maybe that's what did it? I cut my dosage in half (200mg to 100mg) with doctor's approval after BFP.

7 DPO: no spotting despite the fact I usually do. Short LP. :( I wasn't sure if I it was a sign yet since I took the B6.
8 DPO: still not spotting (not other symptoms)
9 DPO: same as before, except I took a HPT because I couldn't help myself. Got a VERY faint positive and seriously thought I was seeing things. It was with afternoon urine!
10 DPO: started letting very light cramps and a tiny bit of brown discharge. Darker FRER but negative CB digital.
11 DPO: darker! Still light cramps.
12 DPO: cramps continue, a little more brown discharge, positive CB digital.
13 DPO: nipples are tingly. I think left breast has swollen a little. No pain.
15 DPO: blood test came back positive! Doctor said slight cramps and light brown discharge is normal!

Basically, I did not have crazy symptoms! Even with positive tests, I thought is was a chemical and AF was coming. I have not had tender breasts or nausea yet. But, it's been confirmed with good HCG levels and I go back next week to see if it's increased! Good luck to all of you, and remember, you're still in until AF shows. Also, don't disappoint yourself or waste money with digitals too early!

BFP Unexplained Infertility, 5 failed IUI's . Accupunture and Loads of prayers

Hello All,
I've been stalking this website for months now.
Our ttc journey wasnt easy. DH and I had all our tests done and everything looked fantastic. Our first attempt of IUI was in August 2016 and we were positive that it would work. I had all sorts of pregnancy symptoms during that cycle. We were very positive .However that cycle failed and were told by our RE not to worry as very few ppl have first IUI successful.
Our second cycle on femara failed again. This time my RE wanted to a hysteroscopy to find if I had any scars or polyps. There was nothing abnormal after the test except a benign polyp.
We went with our third attempt of IUI in Oct 2016 and still nothing.
Our 4th IUI was more aggressive as I was put on follistim injections. These were very harsh on my body as I felt tired all the time. This cycle also failed. I started losing hope at this moment. Decided to take a break and visit my parents in India. Had good time with my family .

Decided to enjoy the holiday season in December and then continue with a natural IUI. However OPK's never showed positive so had to skip that cycle. In jan 2017 I came across lot of people talking about acupuncture and TCM for IVF(as this was our next route).I started accupuncture twice a week from a fertility specialised acupuncturist.
We decided to go for last round of IUI before moving to IVF. In begining of Feb 2017 we had our 5th IUI. However that failed too. i was broken to the core. I almost lost hope inspite of going for acupuncture sessions.
However my acupuncturist convinced me to try natural for few months before moving to IVF.
I decided to go for IVF by June 2017(had lost all the hopes).
My cycles were going well with acupuncture(more regulated). March 15th(CD 28) i have light spotting which is very normal before AF. I was convinced AF is on my way.CD 29 same spotting and on till CD32. I went for my accupunture session on CD32 and told her what was happening. She pursuaded me to take first response HPT.
I was not positive at all but decided to test and boom BFP.Woke DH at 4 am and he could not believe and asked me to make an appointment for beta. CD 35 and beta shows positive. We couldnt believe.
I dont know what worked. We were thrilled. I am 5w 3d pregnant and have no symptons aprt from spotting and slight cramping which I read is okay in the first trimester.

Advice: Lots and lots of prayers. I prayed every single time when I found my friend or a known person is pregnant. He only knows whats the best time. Its easy said than done but thats what has happened to us. Dont lose faith. Hold on to your faith.Miracles happen.

Lean PCOS, 2nd Femara Round, BFP at 13DPO

Hi ladies,

I wanted to share my BFP story to give some hope as so many of these stories helped me during our journey to conception.

Background: me 29 lean PCOS with anovulatory/irregular cycles, DH 33 all normal. TTC for 3 months but I've been preparing my body for pregnancy for about 6 months thinking we would have a long journey ahead of us. I've been off BC for almost 2 years and was diagnosed with lean PCOS in October of 2016. Fertility testing revealed I had an AMH level of 11.6 in December, that same month I was put on Provera to bring on my period as I hadn't had it in almost 3 months. My next cycle was 56 days long (I did finally ovulate on my own!) and in January I started round 1 of Femara at 2.5 mg. I ovulated on CD 18 and had every pregnancy symptom in the book but it was all just PMS; after not ovulating for a few months I had forgotten how awful the luteal phase (a record 15 days long) could be.

In February I started my second round of Femara, 2.5 mg, and decided to really relax, pray and trust my body and The Lord to make things happen. I temp every morning, use OPKS during my expected fertile time, drink raspberry leaf tea and take CoQ10, magnesium, B complex, a prenatal and Zinc with chelated copper. I've cut out all gluten, most cow dairy, all caffeine, all soy and curbed my sugar and alcohol intake since September 2016. I read Taking Charge of your Fertility and WomanCode and exercised frequently. As far as BD goes, we used Preseed, Soft Cups (when they didn't totally hurt me!) and lying with hips elevated for an hour or so after each time.

I didn't record much day to day, I was trying to be really cool and relaxed about it all (cannot recommend enough), but here's what I noticed was different:

+ OPKs on CD 15 & 16
O on CD 17
BD on CD 13, CD 15, twice CD 16, CD 17

1-4 DPO: my boobs aren't the least bit sore, they always are right after O. Can't catch my breath sort of anxiety for no reason and major insomnia that hit right at 4 am each morning.
3 DPO: I had a fall back rise, a temp well below the coverline that I've never had before indicative of an estrogen surge
4 DPO: had a urine test done at GP and I had an elevated white blood cell count, perhaps a super early sign?
5 DPO: boobs start to hurt, awful "throwing up in my mouth a little bit" all day, thought it might have been from the wine I had at lunch (we were on a weekend getaway and I threw caution to the wind alcohol wise!)
My CM went from yellow-y EWCM 2-4 DPO to stiff creamy peaks, I had a ton of it everyday when I checked CP, to shiny lotion-y when I wiped.
Freezing all day and all night, I cannot warm up.
Lots of twinges and little cramps in ovaries.
Instead of my usual upset stomach and diarrhea during the TWW, I was a little bit constipated.
7 DPO I had a little bit of blood when I blew my nose.
10 DPO by boobs are canon balls, veins are all over them, my stomach and upper thighs.
I'm in the best mood ever compared to the deranged tyrant I usually am in the TWW.
No acne! Unheard of for me.
13 DPO I took two digital tests (all I had!) in the afternoon and both were BFP!
15 DPO & 17 DPO FRERs come up BFP right away!
Present symptoms: nausea waves, they're a real thing! Boobs are extra swollen and very tender. Some ovulation type cramping and lower back ache. Outrageous thirst and frequent urination. Napping and going to bed at 9:30 every night. I am not complaining about any of it!

I am praying for a healthy nine months and for each and every one of you to get your BFPs!

BFP at 9dpo! Rainbow baby!

My husband and I have had a tough 2 years. In May 2015 our international adoption of 18 months fell through. In November 2015- I miscarried our first child. We spent the next 18 months exhausting sources with donors. (My husband is transgender- female to male- so we need to use a sperm donor.) Some donors were unreliable. Other sources (from sperm banks like our last pregnancy) too expensive since we had exhausted all of our financial resources between the last pregnancy and adoption. We finally found a donor who was an amazing fit (a family friend actually) and got our BFP the first month with him!

I’m only a few days out of the whole 2 year nightmare- but I am praying this baby sticks- because for the first time in years I feel true joy and hope again. I don’t think I realized how much of my joy was stolen through this whole journey until I got my most recent BFP.

Here’s my symptoms- with a bit of humor because I truly feel you have to have some levity to survive TTC and the TWW!

1dpo-5dpo:

These days were relatively uneventful. I would alternate every other day. One day I would say to my husband, “I just know it. This is our month. Do you think it is?? Am I being crazy or do you think it could be?” The next day I would adamantly say, “I just know it’s not our month. Why does this keep happening to us? I just don’t get it.”

He really loved these conversations.

My symptoms were my usual post-OV symptoms- which are all probably just from progesterone. This includes: cramping, slightly sore nipples, being able to smell things more (for good and for bad), and an usual one for me- cramps in my thighs. My temps jumped a little higher than usual- which is odd for me.

6dpo:

This is when things got a little weird. Around 3pm I felt myself get very warm and noticed that from about 3pm to about 5pm that day- I had a fever of about 99.6 or so. It went away around 5pm though and I felt fine.

I have done some googling and have found casual info about fevers sometimes associated with fertilized eggs- and that causing a fever (like the body thinks it’s an intruder or something)- but who really knows how scientific that is.

My dog sniffs my crotch super weird on this day and I am super tempted to google, “Dog sniffed crotch 6dpo” on google. Kid. You. Not. I admittedly held back.

7po:

This is the day I started to think I was pregnant. Some of the symptoms reminded me of last pregnancy- and then also I just had that “I think I’m pregnant” feeling.

The cramps were super specific on this day. More intense than usual and like a sharp shooting feeling. I was also getting zaps in the sides of my breasts. Super bloated and boobs feel huge. I kept feeling very hungry but NOTHING sounded good to me. That is kind of a common “my period is coming” symptom for me though.

On this day I cried to both my mom and husband something along these lines: “I really really think I am pregnant this time. I honestly think I am just getting my hopes up though. There is no way we could have been successful our first month with a new donor. No way. We are not that lucky. Good things don’t happen to us. *Crying.* I really do think I am pregnant though! But what if I am not!? What if I am just going to be devastated!?”

I did this my last pregnancy too. I get weepy and crazy before a BFP- so it had me pretty curious.

I took my first test on this day (sadly this is late for me- I usually start at some ridiculous day like 5dpo despite fully knowing the science behind everything). It was negative on an internet cheapie- although I was convinced I saw a second line and my husband and I spent a good 45 minutes photographing the test at various different angles and using all sorts of instagram filters on it- trying to see if we could see a second line in photos. I ended up crying before bed assuming I was probably not pregnant (but secretly thinking I really might be- but not wanting to let myself think that too much).

8dpo:

The bloating stayed and I was still getting pretty insane cramping. I just knew this time I had to be pregnant. The cramping felt too different. I was super frustrated though because I had no way to prove this- and I was fighting with my husband at this point- and paranoid that if I was not pregnant I would have to totally just own my own exaggerated emotions vs. being able to blame hormones. Please be pregnant to save face, I was praying.

I took a FRER this day and when I thought I saw a line again, of course proceeded to pry it apart and hold it up to various light sources (which for the record- I am pretty sure will guarantee you to see a line every single time if you do that).

I could barely sleep this night because I was reading stories on this website and so excited to wake up and take my temperature.

9dpo:

BFP at 12DPO after 2 years of trying...

I have been visiting this web site since few months and It helped me a lot with my two week wait and with all my crazy questions. Finally got my BFP on March 2nd on a dollar tree HPT. Blood test same day and again after a week, both came positive and normal. Having my 7 weeks ultrasound this March 23rd. hoping to hear the heartbeats.

My journey:
I have PCOS and my cycles were really long. Metformin, yoga and PCOS diet (low carbs) helped with my cycles and I lost over 25 pounds since last year. My cycles started getting regular and shorter, between 32 to 37 for last four months which is great for a PCOS patient. I started ovulating on my own and exactly cycle date 17-18. Before I was not sure if I was ovulating since my cycles were very unpredictable. This was my 4th round of clomid 50 mg and got my BFP at 12 DPO.

Things we tried this cycle:
Clomid (day 5-9)
Preseed
soft cups (highly recommend)
Ovasitol
metformin

My symptoms:

Sore and tender breasts
frequent trips to bathroom
strong smell
very light on and of cramps
light spotting

Do not loose hope or stress yourself. God has better plans for us. I thank god every single day now:))

BFP 9 dpo 1st Round of Clomid

Hi All!

I can't believe I am finally writing this. My husband and I have been TTC for over a year. My periods were pretty much non-existent other than occasional spotting, so I knew my chances were pretty much 0. 6 months ago, I was diagnosed with PCOS. I am 5,4", 135 pounds, no insulin resistance, so not your typical PCOS. I was shocked. I was put on Progesterone cycle days 14-28 to induce periods, and she said it may throw me into a cycle. Several months ago I got a positive OPK and was so excited but my progesterone came back at 5 and I was told I did not ovulate. Last month, after TTC 1 year, I was put on clomid 50 my. I got a positive OPK on day 18 and my progesterone came back at 17.5! We BD'd almost every day the week and a half before I ended up ovulating and the day I ovulated. We also used pre-seed because I don't have a lot of CM.

I was sure I wouldn't get pregnant the first month, although it was hard not to symptom spot. I also temped. My bbt dropped on day 18 and spiked after that. I had a dip in my bbt around 5 dpo and got my faint but positive BFP on first response on 9 dpo (on our first day of vacation with my family).

My symptoms:
-DPO 1-8: sore nipples from the time I ovulated, but this was most likely from ovulation because it faded away when I got my BFP.
-9 DPO morning: told my sister I thought I was out this month. Very little symptoms and didn't "feel" pregnant.
-9 DPO afternoon: weird twinges/cramping in my uterus. Wanted to drink a beer on the beach but had this feeling I should test first. Tested in the middle of the day with only a 1 hour hold and got my BFP! I was in shock!
10 DPO - now: AF-like cramping comes and goes. My OB says it's totally normal.
13 DPO: some light pink/red spotting when I wiped but it went away the next day. Could have been do to intercourse.
17 DPO: BETA 378 :)
5 weeks pregnant: my breasts became very full and super tender. It hurts to even walk down the stairs.

I am now 5 weeks and 2 days pregnant. Still crampy occasionally and sharp jolts to my pubis. I am so happy. Hang in there ladies. I know it feels like it will never happen, and my heart goes out to everyone who struggles with infertility. I know many have a harder road than myself. Baby dust to all. Fingers crossed that I will have an uneventful 9 months!

BFP age 38

Hi Ladies

Ive just got my BFP after 5 months of trying after losing a baby late on last year (the baby was fine, i had an infection). It took us a while to conceive the baby we lost so I was worried about now being a year older. I did a lot of research into supplements that improve egg quality and fertility and I thought I would post here incase it helps others. I had my AMH tested recently and it came back low - 4.3 p/mol. This worried me a lot. After that i had my antral follicles counted and this was fine (17). I'm really not convinced on the value of AMH personally after doing a lot of reading about it. I wish i had never bothered having the test. I also have a retroverted uterus which probably makes things a bit harder for us but i've conceived 5 times in total (2 children).

Supplements I took:

For egg quality:
DHEA (do you own research on this). Its supposed to take 3-4 months to work and i conceived after 3 months. I played around the with dose, starting on 25mg for 10 days, then 50 for 10 more days then 75mg. After 8 weeks i dropped back to 25mg as i had my DHEA levels tested (saliva test - £40) and they were the upper end of normal. I didn't want them higher than this. DHEA i supposed to increase antral follicle count, AMH and egg quality. I would definitely consider it if you are over 35 and have trouble conceiving. There is also evidence that DHEA reduces miscarriage by 50-80% which the impact being most dramatic in older ladies. The side effects i had was slightly greasy hair at first but nothing major, little spots but again nothing major, it made my hair go a bit limp but it didn't get thinner or fall out.

Ubiquinol - 300mg per day
Alpha lipoid acid - 600mg
PQQ - 100mg
N-Acetyl-Cystenine - 600mg
DHA

For general fertility:
Pregnacare multi vit
Vitamin D
B6
Vitamin E

I read the book "it starts with the egg" - i would highly recommend this. After reading it i stopped taking L-Argnine and Royal Jelly. Theres no evidence either way on Royal Jelly but there is evidence L Arginine can be harmful to egg quality and implantation.

After 3 months of taking the above i conceived, although i had only just started vitamin E, not sure if that made a difference.

I've had 2 chemical pregnancies (in the past, not recently) so I have waited to write this until i'm sure this is not a chemical. My tests are getting darker and darker and i'm currently 17dpo. I know there are no guarantees but so far its going ok.

Other things i did:
Gave up caffeine and only drank alcohol if i was out - maybe twice a month
drank wheatgrass powder
Started acupuncture in November - this helped me greatly with stress and anxiety after my loss. I would highly recommend trying acupuncture.
drank lemon water all day - helps make the body alkaline and detoxes the liver
soft cups
Ovulation tests
lay on tummy afterwards (supposed to be good for retroverted uterus)
pre-seed

Symptoms

I ovulated a little late CD 17 or 18.

4dpo - mild sore boobs, tired, a little thirsty
6dpo - night sweats - this is normal for me and i thought i was definitely out - its usually a sign AF is coming, mild headache on and off
7dpo mild cramps like period pain
8dpo - much stronger cramps in the evening, just like period pain
9dpo - night sweats again - expect to start AF very soon as i have a short luteal phase since taking DHEA (9 or 10 days)
10 dpo -mild hot flashes - usually a bad sign for me so was sure my period was coming. Some mild heart palpitations
11dpo - convinced my period is coming although its a little late now. I had period paid exactly like when AF comes. I went out and got drunk that night i was so sure i was out.
12 dpo - Couldn't sleep last. Nothing all day then hot flashes in the evening, gassy, a little reflux at the back of throat.
13 dpo - took a test and got a BFP pretty quickly. Then had some brown discharge and thought it was another chemical. Lower back ache, still feel like period is coming
14dpo - pink discharge when wiping - sure this is not going to last. Cramps, backache, slightly queasy in the morning. woke early again
15dpo - darker HGC test. woke early again, still got lower backache, slight queasiness. No discharge/spotting
16dpo - Struggled to sleep last night, aching legs and couldn't drop off. darker HGC test, mild night sweats, sore boobs, mild back ache. tired in the afternoon.

Currently 17dpo and praying this pregnancy is ok.

Hope this helps someone out there. Best of luck to you all.

15 Long Months. Finally pregnant with our first at 9 dpo

After 15 long months, we are finally pregnant! I wanted to submit my story because I really benefited from reading these stories throughout my time TTC. A quick back story is that my husband and I were trying to conceive for our first as soon as we were married. Me (31) and my husband (30) want 4 children and we figured we'd better get on it. I had heard from my co-workers and friends how challenging TTC can be, so we thought we try. We found out the hard way that trying to have a baby isn't so easy.

I tried everything under the sun during these 15 months including tracking basal body temperature, opks-both cheap and expensive, preseed, coq10, cod liver oil, fertiliaid, vitex, prenatals, Femara, progesterone, municex, eating pineapple, consuming high fat dairy products during ovulation, waiting 15 minutes after sex with legs up on the headboard, softcups, sperm-meets-egg-plan, daily sex during fertile window, sex every other day, cutting caffeine and alcohol, detoxing, yoga to stimulate fertility, exercise, decreasing exercise, and husband taking supplements including fish oil, coq10, and men's daily vitamin. I tried everything I read within reason.

After about 6 months of TTC I went for a preconception appointment. Within a couple months of that I was having inconsistent results on OPKs and I was prescribed Femara to promote ovulation and progesterone to encourage implantation. My husband had a semen analysis that came back all good as well. I stopped using digital OPKs because I didn't feel as though I was getting an accurate reading.

12 months into TTC I got an HSG test done that came back normal. I also have had bloodwork done on my thyroid, FSH levels, AMH levels, progesterone levels, and probably others that all came back normal and healthy. There appeared to be no reason why I wasn't getting pregnant, but I wasn't. My husband and I are healthy adults who exercise regularly and eats healthy (to a degree- I love sweets :) and my husband loves beer).

15 months TTC I met with the RE who said I would likely be diagnosed with unexplained infertility. She explained there was a couple more tests she could do, but that IUI with Clomid would likely be our best option, but we only had a 10% chance of that working. We could later consider IVF which has a 70% chance of working.

2 weeks later, I got a faint positive at 9 dpo. I am in shocked and cried tears of joy! I just fall to my knees and praise the Lord for this blessing! I had a feeling this might be our month!

Here's my breakdown:
Month 15

What I did differently:
Much more apathetic about trying as I knew we were meeting with the RE.
Stopped using Femara (I had been using for past 5 cycles or more)
Didn't obsess as much over timing, OPK testing, and HPTs
First month using Fertiliaid. I do not think this is the only reason I got pregnant, but I may have helped

What I used:
Preseed- great lube regardless of TTC
Tracking BBT to confirm Ovulation
OPK- cheap online strips with afternoon urine
Prenatal, CodLiver Oil, Vitex, Fertiliaid

We BD: CD 5, 10,12, 15, and 17. I think I ovulated CD 14 per OPK and BBT.

DPO: 1-5 No Symptoms. I noticed absolutely nothing which was different in other cycles. I perhaps had some fatigue, but that's also normal for me.
6-7 DPO: Spotting. I am a chronic spotter, but not this early. It was a watery brown on my underwear and when I wiped. It seemed to stop 8 dpo, but I noticed more the morning of 9 DPO.
9 DPO- brownish spotting when I wiped, but I noticed a faint line on the Wondfo brand. After 15 months- I've learned if that if you really want to see a line, you'll see a line, but I took a first response 6 days soon and saw a faint, but clear line. My first ever BFP!!! I cried and cried and praised God.

I was told I needed IUI or IVF to have a baby, but we did it all naturale! I was prepared to do whatever it took to have a baby, but God had a plan for us already.

In my 15 months TTC, 30+ women I knew personally announced their pregnancy. Please know that through this journey TTC you are not alone. Don't give up hope! Allow yourself to feel whatever you feel! For me it was sadness, anger, jealousy, resentment, hopelessness, fear, but I tried to hold on to hope, love, joy, passion, and appreciation for my marriage and life without children yet.

Don't give up hope! Continue to pray and seek support from women in your life who understand the difficulties of TTC. Good luck to all!

Hope this helps ya'll!
