BFP with Spotting

BFP age 38

Hi Ladies

Ive just got my BFP after 5 months of trying after losing a baby late on last year (the baby was fine, i had an infection). It took us a while to conceive the baby we lost so I was worried about now being a year older. I did a lot of research into supplements that improve egg quality and fertility and I thought I would post here incase it helps others. I had my AMH tested recently and it came back low - 4.3 p/mol. This worried me a lot. After that i had my antral follicles counted and this was fine (17). I'm really not convinced on the value of AMH personally after doing a lot of reading about it. I wish i had never bothered having the test. I also have a retroverted uterus which probably makes things a bit harder for us but i've conceived 5 times in total (2 children).

Supplements I took:

For egg quality:
DHEA (do you own research on this). Its supposed to take 3-4 months to work and i conceived after 3 months. I played around the with dose, starting on 25mg for 10 days, then 50 for 10 more days then 75mg. After 8 weeks i dropped back to 25mg as i had my DHEA levels tested (saliva test - £40) and they were the upper end of normal. I didn't want them higher than this. DHEA i supposed to increase antral follicle count, AMH and egg quality. I would definitely consider it if you are over 35 and have trouble conceiving. There is also evidence that DHEA reduces miscarriage by 50-80% which the impact being most dramatic in older ladies. The side effects i had was slightly greasy hair at first but nothing major, little spots but again nothing major, it made my hair go a bit limp but it didn't get thinner or fall out.

Ubiquinol - 300mg per day
Alpha lipoid acid - 600mg
PQQ - 100mg
N-Acetyl-Cystenine - 600mg
DHA

For general fertility:
Pregnacare multi vit
Vitamin D
B6
Vitamin E

I read the book "it starts with the egg" - i would highly recommend this. After reading it i stopped taking L-Argnine and Royal Jelly. Theres no evidence either way on Royal Jelly but there is evidence L Arginine can be harmful to egg quality and implantation.

After 3 months of taking the above i conceived, although i had only just started vitamin E, not sure if that made a difference.

I've had 2 chemical pregnancies (in the past, not recently) so I have waited to write this until i'm sure this is not a chemical. My tests are getting darker and darker and i'm currently 17dpo. I know there are no guarantees but so far its going ok.

Other things i did:
Gave up caffeine and only drank alcohol if i was out - maybe twice a month
drank wheatgrass powder
Started acupuncture in November - this helped me greatly with stress and anxiety after my loss. I would highly recommend trying acupuncture.
drank lemon water all day - helps make the body alkaline and detoxes the liver
soft cups
Ovulation tests
lay on tummy afterwards (supposed to be good for retroverted uterus)
pre-seed

Symptoms

I ovulated a little late CD 17 or 18.

4dpo - mild sore boobs, tired, a little thirsty
6dpo - night sweats - this is normal for me and i thought i was definitely out - its usually a sign AF is coming, mild headache on and off
7dpo mild cramps like period pain
8dpo - much stronger cramps in the evening, just like period pain
9dpo - night sweats again - expect to start AF very soon as i have a short luteal phase since taking DHEA (9 or 10 days)
10 dpo -mild hot flashes - usually a bad sign for me so was sure my period was coming. Some mild heart palpitations
11dpo - convinced my period is coming although its a little late now. I had period paid exactly like when AF comes. I went out and got drunk that night i was so sure i was out.
12 dpo - Couldn't sleep last. Nothing all day then hot flashes in the evening, gassy, a little reflux at the back of throat.
13 dpo - took a test and got a BFP pretty quickly. Then had some brown discharge and thought it was another chemical. Lower back ache, still feel like period is coming
14dpo - pink discharge when wiping - sure this is not going to last. Cramps, backache, slightly queasy in the morning. woke early again
15dpo - darker HGC test. woke early again, still got lower backache, slight queasiness. No discharge/spotting
16dpo - Struggled to sleep last night, aching legs and couldn't drop off. darker HGC test, mild night sweats, sore boobs, mild back ache. tired in the afternoon.

Currently 17dpo and praying this pregnancy is ok.

Hope this helps someone out there. Best of luck to you all.

Unexplained infertility, BFP with low dose aspirin

Hi ladies,

I promised myself I would post my story if I ever got a BFP, and here it is!

My DH (31) and I (29) started TTC just over a year ago, month after month passed with no positive result. I was relaxed about it for the first 6 months, but started getting a little worried after that. I over-analysed every little symptom, convinced that there was something wrong with me. We both went for the initial fertility checks at about the 10 month mark, with everything coming back normal... which was great, but also SO frustrating... why wasn't it happening for us? At the 12 month mark, I went to see a private gynae, who wanted to do a laparoscopy to rule out endometriosis. He found one small spot of endo on my one ligament, which he removed, but told me that it really shouldn't affect fertility, and that everything else looked perfectly normal.

I recently started looking into the reproductive immunology area, as it seemed this could be the only explanation for our "unexplained infertility". I went to see a dermatologist/allergist (as my skin had been really dry and reactive for the past 6 months) to see if she could give any answers. She ended up diagnosing me with eczema, but after hearing about my fertility woes, gave me the great advice of "Relax, and it will happen"... always the best thing to hear! But she also said to try taking 75mg aspirin a day (baby aspirin) - which apparently helps with blood flow to the uterus. I was willing to try anything at this point, and it seemed pretty low risk. So I went and bought a pack off the shelf, and have been taking one pill a day along with my conception vitamin... and here I am today (10 days later) with a BFP! I tried to convince myself that the weird twinges and sore boobs were just normal PMS for the last few days, but finally gave in and took a test this morning when AF didn't arrive on schedule.

Now I'm not sure whether it was the aspirin that finally made the difference, maybe it was the lap 2.5 months ago, maybe I finally started relaxing (doubtful), or maybe it was the 10 day holiday to sunny South Africa 3 weeks ago, but I wish I had started the aspirin months ago, as it could have saved me a whole lot of worrying!

Now I'm just praying that everything goes well in the coming weeks, I'm really nervous that something will go wrong. But this is the first step, and it is such a good one.

I hope this helps anyone who might be struggling with the unexplained infertility "diagnosis", chat to your GP about trying low dose aspirin and see what happens:)

BFP after MC and chemical

In Summer 2016 I was TTC for baby #2 and got pregnant the first month trying. Found out it was twins at 7 weeks and saw heartbeats. At a follow up ultrasound at 10 weeks it was discovered I had miscarried between 7-8 weeks (a missed miscarriage). I had a DNC and my body seemed to go back to semi normal cycles right away, and I was cleared to TTC again after my first period. My 2nd cycle TTC after the DNC, I got an early BFP at 11DPO but started spotting by 13DPO and tests were not getting darker, and a BFN on a digital. I got my period the next day and confirmed I had a chemical pregnancy. My 3rd cycle TTC after the chemical, I got another BFP! I'm currently 5.5 weeks. After the roller coaster 6 months we've had, it's hard to get excited or feel confident this one will stick around, but I figured I would share my BFP story nonetheless. I had loved reading them on here over these many months of TTC.

I typically have 29-30 day cycles and O around CD16. Even though I'd been successful in the past with conceiving without temping or using OPKs, time was wearing on me after 2 losses so this most recent cycle I started temping and used OPKs to confirm my O day.

CD16-17 - ovulation (fertility tracker and temps place O on CD17 but I think it happened late on CD16 from O pain)
CD21 - heartburn in the PM
CD22 - brown spotting when wiping, mild cramping (implantation??)
CD23 - diarrhea twice, mild menstrual-like cramping
CD26 - BFP on a wondfo

I've now had 4 BFPs in my life: 1 child, 2 losses and this current pregnancy. With 3/4 I had implantation spotting/cramping, heartburn and diarrhea as early symptoms before BFP.

15 Long Months. Finally pregnant with our first at 9 dpo

After 15 long months, we are finally pregnant! I wanted to submit my story because I really benefited from reading these stories throughout my time TTC. A quick back story is that my husband and I were trying to conceive for our first as soon as we were married. Me (31) and my husband (30) want 4 children and we figured we'd better get on it. I had heard from my co-workers and friends how challenging TTC can be, so we thought we try. We found out the hard way that trying to have a baby isn't so easy.

I tried everything under the sun during these 15 months including tracking basal body temperature, opks-both cheap and expensive, preseed, coq10, cod liver oil, fertiliaid, vitex, prenatals, Femara, progesterone, municex, eating pineapple, consuming high fat dairy products during ovulation, waiting 15 minutes after sex with legs up on the headboard, softcups, sperm-meets-egg-plan, daily sex during fertile window, sex every other day, cutting caffeine and alcohol, detoxing, yoga to stimulate fertility, exercise, decreasing exercise, and husband taking supplements including fish oil, coq10, and men's daily vitamin. I tried everything I read within reason.

After about 6 months of TTC I went for a preconception appointment. Within a couple months of that I was having inconsistent results on OPKs and I was prescribed Femara to promote ovulation and progesterone to encourage implantation. My husband had a semen analysis that came back all good as well. I stopped using digital OPKs because I didn't feel as though I was getting an accurate reading.

12 months into TTC I got an HSG test done that came back normal. I also have had bloodwork done on my thyroid, FSH levels, AMH levels, progesterone levels, and probably others that all came back normal and healthy. There appeared to be no reason why I wasn't getting pregnant, but I wasn't. My husband and I are healthy adults who exercise regularly and eats healthy (to a degree- I love sweets :) and my husband loves beer).

15 months TTC I met with the RE who said I would likely be diagnosed with unexplained infertility. She explained there was a couple more tests she could do, but that IUI with Clomid would likely be our best option, but we only had a 10% chance of that working. We could later consider IVF which has a 70% chance of working.

2 weeks later, I got a faint positive at 9 dpo. I am in shocked and cried tears of joy! I just fall to my knees and praise the Lord for this blessing! I had a feeling this might be our month!

Here's my breakdown:
Month 15

What I did differently:
Much more apathetic about trying as I knew we were meeting with the RE.
Stopped using Femara (I had been using for past 5 cycles or more)
Didn't obsess as much over timing, OPK testing, and HPTs
First month using Fertiliaid. I do not think this is the only reason I got pregnant, but I may have helped

What I used:
Preseed- great lube regardless of TTC
Tracking BBT to confirm Ovulation
OPK- cheap online strips with afternoon urine
Prenatal, CodLiver Oil, Vitex, Fertiliaid

We BD: CD 5, 10,12, 15, and 17. I think I ovulated CD 14 per OPK and BBT.

DPO: 1-5 No Symptoms. I noticed absolutely nothing which was different in other cycles. I perhaps had some fatigue, but that's also normal for me.
6-7 DPO: Spotting. I am a chronic spotter, but not this early. It was a watery brown on my underwear and when I wiped. It seemed to stop 8 dpo, but I noticed more the morning of 9 DPO.
9 DPO- brownish spotting when I wiped, but I noticed a faint line on the Wondfo brand. After 15 months- I've learned if that if you really want to see a line, you'll see a line, but I took a first response 6 days soon and saw a faint, but clear line. My first ever BFP!!! I cried and cried and praised God.

I was told I needed IUI or IVF to have a baby, but we did it all naturale! I was prepared to do whatever it took to have a baby, but God had a plan for us already.

In my 15 months TTC, 30+ women I knew personally announced their pregnancy. Please know that through this journey TTC you are not alone. Don't give up hope! Allow yourself to feel whatever you feel! For me it was sadness, anger, jealousy, resentment, hopelessness, fear, but I tried to hold on to hope, love, joy, passion, and appreciation for my marriage and life without children yet.

Don't give up hope! Continue to pray and seek support from women in your life who understand the difficulties of TTC. Good luck to all!

Hope this helps ya'll!

BFP on 18 DPO

This is our second cycle TTC #1. Because we were in the initial phase of trying, I wasnt charting temps or checking exact dates when I ovulated. I have a regular 28 day cycle, so just decided to bd on all days in the week leading upto what should have been ovulation day. this must've been the longest two weeks of my life. felt many symptoms, but then I always doubted if my wishful thinking was making up symptoms for me in my head.

1DPO: dull pain deep inside near the hip. weak and shaky legs, extremely hungry, dinner smelt great but tasted off
2DPO: wet feeling. hungry and thirsty frequently. bowel movement more usual than normal. I usually go once in 2-3 days
3DPO: wet feeling, definitely bloated. gassy, burping frequently. a pulling feeling in lower abdomen when I stretched

15DPO: AF due today. no AF when i woke up! yay! BFN with $tree. had spotting in the afternoon a couple of times. nothing on my underwear, just on tp when I wiped. another BFN in evening with cvs
16DPO: no AF yet. BFN with fmu on FRER. one more spot in my underwear this time. had to literally take an effort to swallow my lunch. felt nauseted. no other symptoms
17DPO: no AF yet. this is the third day i'm late (and i usually never am late). BFN with fmu on $tree
18DPO: BFN on CBD with fmu. no AF yet. im now four days late and almost wishing for AF, so that I can atleast cry about it, and plan for the next cycle. BFP on smu with $tree. a faint line, but its definitely there. another BFP with FRER.

All the best to all of you ttc. Hoping you all get your BFPs soon!

Products used:

3 years ttc, low amh, high fsh, male factor

After two years of trying naturally and countless investigations, I was told my FSH levels were too high (17.5) & my AMH too low (2.1). ICIS might not work and my eggs might not be viable. I also spotted before my period which I was convinced was a problem, despite doctors saying it wasn't. My accupunturist seemed to think it was which didn't help.

We also had a male factor, 11% progressive motility.

For four months I took coq10, dhea along with countless other supplements. I also had been having weekly Accupunture for a year which I am still having now. .

Our first cycle didn't result in conception, but I did respond to a very high dose of drugs & managed to produce 6 eggs. 4 of which fertilised and 2 of which were good enough to freeze.

Six months later (the soonest I could face) we put one back in (the second didn't defrost well) which resulted in a BFP!!! (Three years after we began trying)

Things that I think helped:
- poi shots instead of pessaries. Painful but worth it.
- a month before the cycle, I had a "current life regression" hypnotherapy to help me address all of the heaviness and pain of infertility.
- a week before the cycle, I went on a yoga retreat and having the space to address all of my fears and just to accept them.
- during the cycle I listened to Molly Nichols a fertility coach, and she really really helped. She helped me to realise how isolated and alone I was feeling, how painful and how I had been conditioned to expect more disappointment. How I couldn't believe that this would ever happen for me. And mainly how I utterly distrusted my body, blamed it, judged it, second guessed it's every action (I'm sure I shouldn't spot before my period etc).
I'm slowly facing these issues and shining the light of day on them, I was able to turn around how I was feeling with Mollys help.
This resulted in having the calmest two week wait ( well calm is probably a bit too far but I wasn't full of fear) and feeling in the best place I had ever felt about my fertility. I started to paint a new picture, an idea that I could have a baby and what my life would look like. How I could trust my body. How fertilise I was.
- I ate pineapple everyday
- I only had lukewarm showers, no baths
- I didn't move around much for the first 48hrs after transfer.
-I did have a huge argument with my husband. I felt so convinced that it had runined everything until I spoke to my dad who told me "if having an argument effected conception, there wouldn't be many people around".

Symptoms;
- felt a flutter a few hours after transfer
- felt the same flutter a few days later
- had this knowing, indescribable feeling that it had worked, this didn't happen until about 3 days before I was due to take the test.

- I had no spotting but I did have some at 9 weeks pregnant.

My husband was already consoling me as he was convinced it hadn't worked and when the test went positive he still was doubtful! He hadn't listened to Molly!

Today I'm six months pregnant and I'm feeling so unbelievably blessed.

"Take a leap of faith" was my favourite phrase when I was feeling low.

Third BFP with Preseed

We were so excited to get a BFP today at 10 dpo! Before I list symptoms, this will be our third child conceived ion a very similar pattern- with all three we have tried for one month without PreSeed, then used PreSeed the second month. With all three, we have gotten pregnant right away with PreSeed. I also used CBFM for the first two and CB Advanced OPKs for this one. On to the symptoms because this website has gotten me through the two week wait each time I've been TTC.

1 dpo- spotting (assume from ovulation)
2 dpo- began getting cold symptoms
3-4 dpo- cold symptoms persisted but never got bad, just a nagging stuffy nose and cough
5 dpo- cold continued, sharp cramps in the morning, EWCM tinged with stringy red blood late morning
6 dpo- felt good, few symptoms if any, some pulling cramps at night before bed
7 dpo- mild cramping on and off, brown cm on underwear midday, super bloated
8 dpo- BFN with FMU, boobs began being sore to touch late morning and continued through the day, brown stringy cm in the afternoon, super bloated still, freezing at night before bed
9 dpo- boobs sore to touch off and on all day- I swear this would happen for an hour or two then they'd feel fine for a while then it would come back. Talk about second guessing! Occasional cramping off and on, small amount of the same stringy brown discharge as day before in the evening, very cold again at night- slept in a sweatshirt which I never do
10 dpo- BFP with FMU!

BFP second pregnancy!

Hello everyone! I feel so blessed to be able to share my BFP story with you. This is our second month TTC. We already have a wonderful 18 month old boy and can't wait to expand the family! Hoping that the new year brings baby dust and healthy pregnancies to all of you out there!

Since we were only half-trying, I didn't keep a record of symptoms like I did for my first pregnancy. With NYE and a bad flu virus hitting the whole family for the first 10 days of 2017, we kind of tried when we could, maybe three times in total this cycle, and I had no idea when I was ovulating since I was still trying to understand my cycle after stopping the pill. What's really funny is that the dates of my LMP are exactly the same for both pregnancies!

So we BD'd on CD 13, 18 and sometime later, I felt ovulation twinges around CD 16 but cannot say for sure since I wasn't taking my temperature. I thought we were out since we weren't trying regularly...

Then:
CD 19-26 (3-10 DPO): bad flu, sick and tired, couldn't really think of anything else besides getting home from work in one piece and wondering if DS was old enough to tuck me into bed.
CD 28-29 (12-13 DPO): feeling really tired around 4pm. You know how the tiredness feels different during pregnancy? I recognized the same feeling and was also tired around 4pm during my first pregnancy. My nipples also started tingling here and there but I didn't notice any color or size changes. During my first pregnancy, my nipples got super dark and large by 10DPO, hubby's eyes were falling out of his head LOL.
CD 30 (14 DPO): ouch, sharp pinching on my pubic bone! I was like, wait a sec.. I had twinges like these throughout my first pregnancy. These were really distinct from the general aches and twinges around ovulation and leading up to AF so I started wondering..... Af was supposed to arrive on CD31 based on my previous cycle. I was getting typical menstrual-type aches around my lower back and hips so I was pretty sure we were out this month. Last month I tested furiously after my nipples grew twice their size (seriously) - huge hit to the morale, in the end BFN and period came about 2 days late, nipples went back to their regular size a few days after. I really didn't want to endure the same disappointment again so kind of put the idea out of my head and didn't test or symptom spot.
CD 31 (15 DPO): No AF. Hmm, maybe it's late. Maybe I didn't ovulate. Who knows? Anyway, had a 18 month old to chase after so one quickly forgets what day of the week it is...
CD 32 (16 DPO): Light brown smear when wiping early morning. I thought, ok, I'm out, better put a tampon when I take my son for his baby swim class. Before going to the pool, the spotting was gone. Hmm, decided to risk it, went to the pool without a tampon. By the end of the day, nothing. OH. I started googling like mad. "Light brown spotting instead of period" and the sort. I read that while implantation takes place 6 - 12 days after ovulation, spotting might happen later, sometimes around the time of the expected period. I also had slight nausea in the mornings for the past few days but since I had zero nausea during my first pregnancy, I brushed it off. BUT NOW, I was starting to get interested..... So I got a HPT..
CD 33 (17 DPO): Still no spotting, so I tested first thing in the morning while hubby was changing DS. I hate the feeling of watching the dye spread over the test and the test line comes up while you squint your eyes out trying to see if a second line starts appearing. This time, the test line showed up and almost immediately a second line started appearing. I got so flustered, set the test down for 30 sec, looked at it again, super dark line! Broke the news to hubby who was in the middle of wrestling a butt-naked toddler trying to breakdance on the changing table. Needless to say, we were ecstatic!

I'm now at CD 35 and just visited my OBGYN. Getting my blood work done tomorrow! I also wanted to say to all those TTC a second pregnancy that the symptoms can be really really different! So far, it has been the case for me. Waves of nausea while I had zero the first time. Not too tired this time but exhausted the first. No breasts changes besides tenderness this time; first time they changed right away. Not sure what to expect this time round, just crossing my fingers that I'm able to get enough rest and our little bean arrives healthy to meet his big brother!

GL and baby dust to all of you TTC and thanks for reading!

OMG I literally can't believe it!!! Shaking and can't concentrate!

Did a first response today just because I couldn't wait a couple more days for my period. Within a few seconds the second line showed up! (11dpo) Albeit faint - but certainly not a squinter! Pinching myself. Gave Hubby an early Christmas present all wrapped up with the test inside and a baby grow saying ' I love my Daddy- he's funny!' (I'd bought it a few months ago waiting to be able to give it to him). Wrote a tag inside saying 'Mummy is looking after me for a while and keeping me safe on her tummy but I can't wait to meet you!'

To be honest it really just felt like my period was coming. It still does!

1-6 dpo - 1dpo a little spotting- probably from ovulation. Then nothing- but bbt temps went down after the ovulation spike. Right up til 6dpo.

6-7 dpo- spike again - to over 36.9.

7-10 dpo- spotting- I'm a regular spotter and this month has been particularly crazy with the spotting!! All over the shop. When I say spotting I do mean brown CM. other months it progressed to dark blood and then red then period. Not this time. Also other months only started spotting from 10dpo. Not 7dpo.

Also ever so slight soreness in breasts- but honestly- the same as every other month- so just thought it was my period.

Only other symptom that was worth noting was a ridiculously slight ache in my actual belly button a couple of times. Saw others had said similar too on here, which is really odd. But I wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't have been sitting down quietly at work.

11dpo- less spotting. Slight brown when wiped once. Took first response for the hell of it as I'm impatient and within 10 seconds the second line came up!!

And here we are. Still don't quite believe it. hubby wants precisely 5 more tests before he's fully convinced ha ha.

FYI- hope for all those regular spotters- this cycle I had the most spotting I've ever had!! It was crazy throughout! But I do mean spotting- as in brown. I think my body was clearing itself out. Anyway- don't let anyone tell you it will make it harder to conceive. This is only cycle 4 since coming off the pill. And I've been on it for years!!!! And I'm 29. So don't be disheartened if you body likes to spot.

Also- be confident that you know your own body. I never listened to this 'first morning wee' for opk's nonsense. It's technically supposed to be the highest concentration. But afternoon urine was always better for me! Always. My body was changing quickly too during ovulation from high fertility to peak- a morning test would be flashing smiley and by the afternoon it was static (clear blue highest levels of LH). Test more if you have the money but equallydon't drive yourself crazy if it stressses you.

I just personally found I felt way more in control and it made me more confident in knowing my body.

This was also the very first month using preseed. That stuff is a bloody miracle worker! Now I know it probably wasn't all down to this but I'm damn sure it helped as I have quite sparse CM. put it this way- it can't hurt!!!

Please feel welcome to ask questions. I stalked this board for months and felt it only right to add to it.

I've posted my bbt chart here. Am stopping taking temps from now on as I don't want to freak myself if they fluctuate.

Baby dust to all!!!!!
