Do you find Fertility Friend useful?

Postby JazzBaby » Sun Apr 15, 2012 12:42 pm

I've been using OPK's only to determine my LH surge. I didnt want to do the whole temp thing. Do you find it helpful? Has it helped you in any way? What are your thoughts? Have you become pregnant with it? Do you recommend it?

I use FF to identify/confirm ovulation days. Also, they're nice to generally predict future fertile days for longer-term planning. I can do it myself, I suppose, but it's nice to have a second opinion. I don't pay for it--just use the general free version.

I do BBT on my own, and keep my own written records of symptoms and stuff. I've used OPKs once before, but they seem expensive to me.

Oh ok, I am going to see if I give FF a try. Its seems like almost everyone her in the forum uses FF and I they can determine if the temperature is rising after O.

I use OPK's but I use the internet cheapies. Buying them at your local pharmacies can be expensive. The ones from the internet work for me. I got pregnant last year that predicted my surge but ended in a m/c. I check 2x a day after my period so I buy them in bulk of 100. After my m/c I didnt track or anything so now I am back on the wagon.

I got pregnant (chemical) my first month charting with FF. I think my timing may have been off before I had such a clear picture of what was going on in my body. You learn a lot when charting, so I'd say give it a shot, even if you only use the free version.

I like charting, though I have yet to conceive, so I guess it hasn't helped yet, technically. I think the first month is really confusing, but after that, you can really learn a lot about your cycle, and what's normal for you. I also think it's good to do a month or two just to make sure you've ovulating, and that your luteal phase is not too short. Once you've got those two boxes checked, then there's really no reason to keep charting unless you like it.

I like it for the same reasons Zanna mentions. I just got my IUD removed a month ago and wanted to be sure that I was ovulating and that my luteal phase was a good length.

I also use it to keep track of my migraines, any medications I'm taking, and where I am in my cycle (because that can give me a heads up that a migraine may be coming). So because of the headaches I find it useful as a kind of general health tool. I'm also the type who would never be able to remember when my last period started if I didn't have it written down somewhere, so it's helpful for that.

Once I've charted for a few months I may stop temping (which I find to be the most obsession-inducing part of charting). Though it's cheaper than OPKs, so I may stick to temping and skip the OPKs after 1-2 more cycles if I continue to show a clear temp shift after ovulating and clear CM/CP pattern pre-ovulation.

I started with FF this month as I am no longer going to RE and trying naturally. I like seeing the dips and spikes that correspond to the results of the OPK's .. I love that I can record everything from symptoms, moods, meds, tests all in one place. I also love the "facts" they provide like if you test on 13DPO the test is 75.9% accurate or the points awarded for early pregancy signs.

I do not temp anymore, but I still use FF. It has proved incredibly useful for me, just to keep track of my cycles. Especially if you are seeing an RE, it's nice because you have all the dates (I have the mobile app). I've also marked many of my IVF dates (transfers, hcg booster shot, meds) and it's nice to go back and look to compare.

Thanks ladies!!

I just registered at FF.com. I am going to give it a try. I am just waiting for :af: to arrive so I can get started since I dont think I am pregnant this month. I am 13 dpo and all test have been negative. I like OPK's but I get nervous that I might not be ovulating. I have read that just because you have a surge that doesnt mean you actually ovulated. I found it weird that we BD around the time I ovulated and I havent falling preggo. I guess it happens.
