Question About Infertility/CD 3 Testing

Postby Veronica86 » Mon Feb 06, 2017 4:11 pm

HI ladies..

I had my CD3 bloods done a few weeks back and everything checked out normal. I ask my Dr if I would be scheduled for a CD21 check and she said there is no reason too since everything was normal on CD3. I was hoping to check my progesterone levels just to make sure they were high enough. She said if I had low progesterone I would have still conceived at some point but suffered miscarries (I've been trying for 14 cycles- never a BFP).

Does this sound accurate to everyone else? I'm CD20 today and I'm wondering if I should push for the blood tests anyway... what do you girls think?

I think you should push for the test,it won't hurt you in any way and your doctor should do it at least for ur own peace of mind. She does have a point,if progesterone would have been ur only issue you would have conceived and probably misscaried but that doesn't happen all the time, when pregnant and you have low progesterone you bleed a bit and doctors will recommend progesterone supliments automatically.
Have you had an hsg?

Hi Danaa-

No I have not had an HSG yet. The Dr. said my husband should do an SA before I go that route- she made it sound very unlikely I have tube issues (said it's rare), but I know there's no way of knowing unless I actually get the test done. Trying to push my husband to the SA this week! If his tests are all normal then I will get the HSG done.

That sounds like a good plan, tubal problems are indeed rare but it needs to be ruled out especially if ur DH sa will come back normal!!

Hi veronica86!!! How are youm. We both started around the same time its been almost a year and half for me too with no luck ;( its hard and i wish it would not be this difficult. Its harder when u dont have an answer to your infertitily. I have exhausted my saving on medications and iui and nothing seem to work. Everything checks out normal for me and hubby. Never give up soon we will have our little bundle of joy.
Keep pushing for those test. Its you who is paying she should just send you for every possible test out there to cross out and everything and give u peace of mind.

Hi Mglupe- I'm so sorry you've been around here as long as I have TTC- I know how tough it is :( When did you begin testing, and what lead you to try IUI's? I fear we may be headed in that same route so I'm trying to get a better understanding of how it all works. Did you have an HSG done?

Hi veronica yes we did all of that including a d&c procedure to make sure everything was clean since i had a iud that was inbeded in my uterus to remove scar tissue. The iui are basically asisting the sprem to be right there at the time of ovulation. They also stimulate your ovaries to produce at lease two follicles at the time of ovulation. For me they have increased my dose to produce lots of follicle in hope we catch one to stick. But that has not happen.
Today im 8dpiui using extra medication like progesteron insert and in injectables in hope one stick. Crossing my fingures this cycle. It add up since insurance does not cover anything. Everything has been out of pocket.

Mglupe- Thank you for the info! I hope we both get our BFP very soon!

So I'm CD22/7 DPO today and pushed for the blood test. She said I'll have to wait until CD21 next cycle. Does one day really make this much of a difference?!

Grrrr veronica i would be so piss off. What the heck, why is it that some doc do what they want and not what is better for the patients. I get very upset when they come with a bugos responce like oh its normal, normal for who? For a 25 percent of the population?. I im under the unknown categories i dont want to hear it normal because there is no normal on this. Sorry it made me mada that u will have to wait anothercycle to get tested on your progesteron. If i was u i will also push for the hsg test its not fun but and it hurt alot but you will know for sure your tubes are both open. You are the one paying them so push alittle bite more.

It doesn't make a difference at all...ur doc is annoying me...progesterone should be tested 7 days after you ovulated, not everyone ovulates on cd14,a doctor should know this.

My cd3 bloods were normal to but my Dr still made me have two sets of cd21 bloods as well. Cd3 bloods only check your egg quality and quantity, estrogen levels and thyroid so they won't be able to tell from that alone that you're ovulating as its progesterone that's responsible for that and of course if your levels aren't high enough you won't ovulate, so I would definitely push for them to be done
