PGS to avoid Alzheimers?

Postby Tucan » Mon Jul 17, 2017 1:51 am

Hi ladies,
New to this - feeling hopeful and quite a bit scared. My husband and I are trying to do PGS, and stretched for a more cutting edge university-affiliated clinic to do so, because of a bad family history of aneuploidy.we're trying to avoid for our child. But at my appointment today the doc brought up something we've never heard of -- she offered to also select one of the embryos with the least likelihood to develop Alzheimers later in life, and decrease that risk by a lot. Anyone out there doing this too, or have thoughts about it? I know it's far off, but having first hand experience seeing my mother-in-law in that pain, we are tempted. On the other hand, I'm very timid about trying anything so new and would love to hear about anyone else's experiences/thoughts/reactions, if you're willing to share. Any input would be helpful, just to not go through all these decisions alone.
Thank you and good luck to anyone out there struggling through a hard stretch. I'm thinking of you.
