Why is my cervix such a mythical unicorn? (OPEN vs CLOSED?)

Postby melmarie » Mon Apr 30, 2018 8:55 pm

Hi all!

I've been stalking message boards and falling down virtual rabbit holes about TTC info online and finally decided to join here! I did a search for my topic, I'm sure others have this question so apologies if it's been answered before.

I cannot, for the life of me, figure out if my cervix is open or closed.

Position - High, medium, or low? Got it.

Firmness - Soft/lips, medium/chin, or hard/nose? I can do that!

CF - Sticky, creamy, lotiony, tacky, wet, dry, etc? Yep, expert..

But open or closed? I don't know it always feels like an ... errr, hole.

I was even a weirdo and Google imaged searched open vs. closed cervix but I highly recommend not doing that.

So do you girls have any way I can distinguish this open vs. closed situation?

Thank you!

Also, just a little backstory since this is my first post. We were NTNP starting last November (stopped taking oral birth control) and now actively TTC for three cycles. I have a mostly regular 27-28 day cycle since being off the pill, am currently 1-2 days before AF, and we are trying for our first child after getting married September 2016! I've been tracking cycles using Ovia since December but have just recently starting tracking cervical findings this most recent cycle.

Hello,I say don’t worry too much about your cervix,is not really a reliable source of tracking things besides the cm,the cervix changes positions throughout the day .
As for ur question well the best I can say is yeah you feel like a small hole lol,I think :)) not easy to explain.

Thanks so much for the answer! I wish there were some hard and fast rules to this, instead of just knowing everyone is different and cervical position doesn’t really matter. This can be a little frustrating not knowing and reading into every little thing.

Definitely don’t read too much into everything or else you will go crazy :)).
My advice to you is to have lots of sex especially on your days with watery cm or ewcm.Good luck!
