IVF after a c-section?

Postby Lami » Tue Mar 22, 2011 11:37 am

Has anyone here completed a IVF or even IUI with inject cycle after a c-section? My DS was a section, and I am just wondering what I am in for the next time around?

I would not think it would matter. Women get preggo after c sections all the time.

Hi!

Just popped on to respond to your question! Hope it's not too late. I did IVF after my c-section (my son). They had a terrible time trying to get the cathedar through a scar my section made. It sort of made a divet in there that they couldn't get around. I was sort of freaking out. At the mock transfer everything went smoothly, so it was surprising. After what seemed like an eternity, they finally got it through and released the blastocysts. They gave me some valium to relax me because they didn't want my uterus to contract. The dr. says that when they do the mock transfer, each time the cath takes a slightly different route, so it can happen that they are not aware of those divets. I did my FET this summer and it happened yet again! This after my 2nd c-section (my daughter). They had to actually change to a smaller cath! Good grief!

So, yes the c-section can impact the procedure. BUT drs. are usually trained to work around it. It's just a pain to be there longer with a full bladder, legs in the air, and girlie parts out for the world to see  By the way, both times I got a BFP. My FET resulted in a miscarriage though. So the problem didn't impact the success.

Good luck!

thanks for sharing kanne! Those are the types of stories I was looking for, so many people blow of c-sections and really they can do extensive damage. I'm glad things worked out for you!
