Hey there

I havent read all these posts but I am confused...if you've been trying for a year that's not too llong .... and you already have a child like he says.
Not concieving for a year is not infertility.

But not conceiving for 12 months IS infertility.
6 months after the age of 35.
Or not being able to carry a child full term.

Actually:

Reproductive endocrinologists, the doctors specializing in infertility, consider a couple to be infertile if:

• The couple has not conceived after 12 months of contraceptive-free intercourse if the female is under the age of 34. 12 months is the lower reference limit for Time to Pregnancy (TTP) by the World Health Organization.[2]
• The couple has not conceived after 6 months of contraceptive-free sexual intercourse if the female is over the age of 35 (declining egg quality of females over the age of 35 account for the age-based discrepancy as when to seek medical intervention).

And honestly, the comment about already having a child is completely ludicrous to me. Mind-boggling even.

Secondary Infertility - Secondary infertility is defined as the inability to become pregnant, or to carry a pregnancy to term, following the birth of one or more biological children. The birth of the first child does not involve any assisted reproductive technologies or fertility medications.

Seconary Infert - that makes sense I did not realise that meant when you have a child
Good to know.

I'm in UK and maybe the thing is different. The Doctor did say to me that I could have gone to the doctors after a year and here I am, 4 years later now knowing 6 months ago that hubby has very low sperm, and low morphology.

I think what I think is me personally, which I know isn't everyone, thinks giving a bit more time before freaking out is important. Doctors that say come back after 2 years say that knowing most couples will concieve and never come back.

Being honest as well, like I said hubby has low sperm and we will need IVF which I do not want.
Maybe this sounds like a rant as I am experiancing bad infertility and bitter.

So maybe I need pity and not bashing LOL
It's likely I will be childless and next month you will concieve.

With much love and prayers to all

[quote="Alyce"]dh and i have been ttc our second for almost a year now. with the exception of the past few months [quote]

PS .. this would indicate that she has not come to a year yet anyway.

It might just takea bit longer.

Rachel - I wasn't trying to bash you, just wanted to point out that you were giving her incorrect information. There are too many misconceptions regarding secondary infertility.

I'm sorry you are feeling down about your situation. But, unfortunately, I will also be childless and not pregnant next month, same as you. Actually, many of us on this site will be. It sucks, but it's the awful truth.

Hope you can find some peace soon. :hugs:

So sorry to hear of your frustrations OP!
I too struggled w/secondary infertility and got very, very lucky in January on a break cycle. It took us 2 years.

I waited the full year too, even tho I knew I was having weird cycles. I mean, I already had a kid right? Turns out I have blatantly obvious PCOS.

I would def do what you have to do to see a new doc, someone trained to deal w.IF or at least someone who seems to care. Be aggressive, treatments/diagnosis can take years even when you have a doc. Goodluck!

Rachel: Sorry about your reproductive issues, but I agree w/Ashley and Kara. You were rude, and for someone who is in the same boat it's a little hypocritical. We have doctors for a reason, and the great thing about this country is if you want a second opinion you can go get one. W/O waiting for some ridiculous timeline. I WISH I wouldn't have listened to the "rules" when I thought something was wrong, who know I might have gotten pregnant faster, or at least saved myself and DH some grief.
Secondary IF sucks too, even tho we have a child(ren).

Much love to all my friends!! You'll get there! Kara I've been following your blog and can't wait to what Pittsburgh holds for you!

Ashley, stalking your tests! Goodluck hunny!! You and Miles are in my thoughts and prayers!

So sorry you are having problems. I know too much how you feel. I always tell people- TRY YOUR HARDEST TO SEE A REPRODUCTIVE ENDOCRINOLOGIST!!!! I wasted 6 months with a regular OBGYN and it was wasted time. You wouldn't have an eye doctor take out your gall bladder so don't see an ob for your fertility issues. See someone who specializes in their field. I hope you find some answers soon!

thanks everyone. for racheal, if you read my lower posts i had actually been ttc for 13 months when i first started this thread. the reason it was wrong is because i took it off fertility friend but i realised i had actually signed up to fertility friend a few months after ttc. i understand your bitterness but just try and remember we are all in the same boat here.
so ive been to my new gp and had my husbands sperm tested. my progesterone was 20 in my leuteal phase bloodwork, and the repeat showed the same. she said i am probably ovulating but she put me on 50mg clomid for 10 days starting CD5. everything else was normal, as well as my husbands sperm. she wants me to try the clomid for 3 cycles and if it doesnt work, she will give me a refferal for an IUI. i live in rural NSW, australia so we will have to travel.
i dont know if she was very knowledgeable about fertility because she seemed to contradict some things i have read. for example i bought up my short leuteal phase (7-10days) and she said that my temping and opks must be off because leuteal phase is ALWAYS 14 days (which i know is wrong) but i was just thankful for the clomid!
TTC over 3 years. 6 cycles 100mg Clomid, 5 BFNs 1 Ectopic. Lap and fertility testing, DX Unexplained Infertility.
BFP 8/12: Ectopic pregnancy - treated unsucessfully with Methotrexate, then surgically removed in emergency surgery.
10/12: Found out my right tube is deformed and my left tube is badly damaged from the Ectopic pregnancy. Advised to move onto IVF because I have almost no chance of conceiving naturally.

Whoa! You better check in clomid chicks to confirm this but 10 days of clomid is to long! If you start it on cd 3 you are supposed to take it from cd 3-7 and if you start it on cd 5 you take it till cd 9. Please check in clomid chicks before you start that.
