progesterone experiences?

Postby goobermom » Fri Jun 17, 2011 7:44 pm

i am hoping some ladies can share their use of progesterone supplementation- kind taken, dose, reason.
i have taken crinone following IUI's and most recently switched to endometrin. i had low progesterone when i had my chemical and my m/c. My 7 dpo/cd 21 progesterone test was low last cycle. The nurse practitioner told me to take the endometrin once per day. The fine print insert listed dosage as 2-3 times per day. What doses have you ladies taken? Would it be appropriate to request a 7 dpo progesterone test this cycle (follistim, trigger, IUI, and prog. suppl)?
Thanks!!!

I was on Crinone cream a few years ago, and honestly cant remember what my expierience was with it. If I cant remember, it must have been a fairly positive experience, though I wasn't pregnant at the time. In March I was on Prometrium supposetories for a week or two because my levels were quite low. I dont think it helped much because my body was about to have a m/c before the progesterone could take full effect. I liked it, but it was really messy. And yes, I think it's appropriate that you have your levels checked, although if you're already on progesterone and your level comes back low, I dont know what else they would do for you. Almost forgot, when I was on Prometrium, I took 3 capsules per day. I dont remember the dose, will have to go look....

I have been on it all...shots , gel and cream. I always have low progesterone. with the crinone and endometrin the level that comes back is lower then the actual level that is in yuor system as it hits your cervix not your blood stream. Each dr will have a different idea about what level they would like to see you at but anything over 5 will sustain a pregnancy.
