High TSH

Postby ozeire » Mon Jun 30, 2014 5:50 pm

Hi there! I was wondering if anyone else has suddenly been diagnosed with severe hypothyroidism? 3 months ago I had tsh levels of 1.8. Had some issues two weeks ago bleeding during my luteal phase and found that my tsh had jumped suddenly to 40! We have been trying to conceive for 8 months but I have now been told to stop until my levels are normal. My question is has anyone else experienced a sudden jump and how long did it take for your levels to come down? I am upset thinking its going to be ages before we can even start trying again :(

Thanks in advance for any help.

I was diagnosed last January, but the highest my TSH ever got was 4.11. As I'm sure you've read, the internet has tons of information and many people swear by Armour thyroid, a naturally desiccated medicine. The best thing for you to do will be to find a very competent and proactive endocrinologist. A reproductive endocrinologist would be even better at this point, but they are few and far between. GL!

I've just been told my TSH was 4.3 and prescribed me synthroid which they gave me generic. And that they wanted it below 2.5 and we are still proceeding with our follistim and IUI. I'm scared that the IUI won't be successful due to elevated TSH

Hi ladies,
i also have a high TSH above 4 then last time it was 2.53 but I hear that fasting affects the results and that the levels can fluctuate quite a bit.. I also had my thyroid checked with ultrasound and it was good.. Ive been ttc for four cycles, I am now trying a gluten and dairy free diet to see if it helps lower my TSH levels,, so we will see. I think that the other T4 and T3 checks are important also free T4 and free T3
