Intravaginal ultrasound results

Postby mom2bret » Thu Sep 25, 2014 9:57 am

I got the results from my intavaginal ultrasound. There are no masses and no cysts on the ovaries. Which is good. It shows follicles on the right ovary but not on the left one. It was done on CD7 so I would have thought it was early enough that a dominate follicle wouldn't have formed yet to make the rest wither and that there should have been some on the left. Should I be concerned? Or is it possible they just didn't see them? I will be calling the doctor's office but thought I would check and see if anyone had experienced this or not.

My day 3 FSH came back at a 6.3 and she said that was still a good number to have especially with my age so she wasn't concerned with my egg supply since the number was so good.

Any thoughts?

for my first 7 monitored cycles, I only produced follicles on the right. It wasn't until I developed a complex cyst the size of an orange that my left ovary finally woke up and that was even on fertility meds. the RE said it was perfectly normal and not a concern. Some women don't develop follicles on both sides every cycle.

Thank you so very much for sharing. I had called and left a message the doctors office but didn't get a call back so I was still worrying about. Hearing that you had this happen makes me feel better.

Hi mom2bret, any update on what the doctor had to say about it? I haven't had my follies scanned but I may be doing this in the very near future. I have a feeling I O mostly on the left side. I am wondering if this could have some kind of effect on my high FSH (12). Glad to hear your FSH was normal at least! Good luck with everything!

I didn't hear back from them but when I went to my last appointment she said she didn't "think" it was anything to worry about. But because they also don't think that me having a luteal phase between 9 to 11 days more than half the time or having low post O temps or having cramps the entire time between ovulation and AF is a problem. Their words "I wouldn't worry about it, none of that matters just deal with it" and when I asked wasn't that all a sign of low progesterone and if so that would make it so I can't get pregnant they said "it doesn't really matter". So I wouldn't take what they say. I have already schedule an appointment with another doctor.

Good luck to you and babydust for us both!!

Mom, if you're having short luteal phases and low post o temps, that's a huge low progesterone indicator!! I would force them to do a 7dpo progesterone check or get a new doctor! Good luck hon!

I was trying to get them to test for it but they told me the test was not a good test to do because numbers could be a huge range. That's when they told me it doesn't matter. So I am going to a different doctor on November 3.

Hopefully they will be better.

I agree with your decision to go to a new doctor. Hopefully you will get a better answer than "it doesn't matter". Your chart is looking great...FX for you!!!

Thanks, so far my temps are up, but usually in a couple days they will start dropping. Have to wait and see I guess.

I'm doing ok, temps started dropping like usual but are holding now, fingers crossed for a normal luteal phase this time. I went to see my primary doctor today about an issue I am having with my foot and she asked about the referral she gave to the midwife and OB dr. I told her what happened and she couldn't figure out why they would have done that. She was glad I had chosen so socage else to try.

DH has is SA on Monday so that is one more hurdle out of the way.

How are you doing?

I hope the temps hold out and I'll keep my FX for a normal luteal phase for you too! Glad you are getting the SA done, the more knowledge you have the better. Keep me posted on the results. My DF has low morph and low normal motility so we are dealing with mild male factor.

I am doing okay, I just had a saline sonohysterogram and I have no cysts or anything in the way so I am all cleared for IUI next month. I am a little nervous because I will be taking Gonal -F injections to stimulate my ovaries. I'm just in the TWW now so if AF comes in two weeks I will be starting the injections.

Re: Intravaginal ultrasound results

Postby mom2bret » Tue Nov 11, 2014 8:25 am

how are you doing vanjust14? Still in the tww? I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner, things got crazy around here.

DH had his two semen analysis done in the last week so we got those results and depending who you believe (the lab ranges for normal or all the different sources on the internet ranges for normal) he may have low sperm count. I posted all that info in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=232060

But I did have my appointment with my new OB/GYN yesterday and I love him so far! He really sat down and listened and looked at my charts and other test results and DH's SA. Right away he said ok, I'm not trying to be rude but you just joined our 41 year old club (my birthday was sunday and I turned 41, which is his age and my husbands age) so that means and I said I'm elderly when it comes to fertility! and he said yes. I told him I knew that and he said good, now you will understand why I want to schedule a HSG for Wednesday morning. Wow!! He said that he wants to get all the testing done ASAP so we can move on things. So HSG is scheduled for tomorrow morning and depending on the outcome of that test he would like to do a progesterone test this cycle too! So that will be in about 18 days or so depending on when I ovulate! Yay! Someone that finally listens and understands!

He even went and looked up DH's SA results that he just had done yesterday morning (only 3 hours before my appointment) Since DH's urologist and my OB/GYN are at the same medical group he was able to get it straight from the system! When he came back and was like we might have a small issue with the sperm count I almost lost it! and he pulled a chair up right in front of us and held my hand while he spoke with DH and kept telling us both its ok, its not a deal breaker, its not that bad. You just need to speak with the urologist. So he is very caring and kept my husband from getting upset and me too! He has only been at this clinic for a couple weeks but has practiced in the Chicago area for 12 years. He even said that if there is a problem with luteal phase we will get me going on something to fix that and the if we don't have luck with that he wants to do 3 rounds of clomid before he gives up and sends us on. Which I'm not sure we would choose to go on, it has been such a long road now that we may just not try after that. But he is at least willing to treat me with things like clomid and progesterone and whatnot if it looks like it is needed. My last physician and midwife wouldn't even consider doing the tests.

So I have the HSG tomorrow morning and DH has a follow up with urologist to go over SA results (I am so worried about those, what they say is normal range doesn't coincide with what the other things I'm reading say is normal)

Hoping either AF doesn't show and you got your BFP or AF comes and goes so you can start your injections!! Babydust!!

Woohoo mom! That's amazing that your new doc is so proactive! I didn't think his numbers look too off. As for the sperm count question, the number they give you on an SA is total sperm even including the non perfect. I know for my iuis they wanted 10-20 mill of the perfect sperm.
Have they tested your AMH? That will tell about your egg quality. Clomid won't do much of your amh is low.

They have tested my FSH (6.3) but have never mentioned testing my AMH. I will have to write that down and mention it the next time I am there.
