How does someone know when they should be tested for MTHFR mutations? Are there any symptoms to look for? Tell me what you know!

I suspect I have MTHFR because I have a history of being vitamin B deficient. After 2 chemical pregnancies, I asked my RE to please test me for it, and she said she has stopped testing this on anyone because "there's no point." Im still not sure what she meant, but I'm hoping she knows best.
