Donor Egg IVF

Postby tammylynn1230 » Thu Jan 08, 2015 1:38 pm

Hi all,

Just wanted to jump on, I have been silently reading along on many of your journeys but not participating too much as I am using donor eggs and my journey is different but with the same goal in sight. If any of you have any questions regarding donor eggs, please let me know, it's been a very eye opening journey but well worth to be able to have a chance to have another baby!

We tried one donor egg IVF cycle back in Sept and we got 5 frozen donor eggs, 4 were mature, 3 fertilized but sadly only 1 made it to day 3 and it wasn't the best quality, 5 cell AB, anywhooo it ended in a BFN. So we switched docs and tried using a donor egg bank, fast forward to now

Tomorrow they will thaw our 8 frozend donor eggs and my husband will leave his swimmer for fertilization, then on Monday they will transfer the two best embies and will grow any left overs to day 5 and freeze.

We are very excited to try again with a new doc, new donor, and new lab!

Beta scheduled for Jan 22nd, which will be 10dp3dt!

Wishing all you of you success in 2015!!

Congratulations on your BFP, and thank you for sharing your experience!

Can I ask, was it difficult to make the decision to use donor eggs? We had always discussed adoption as an alternative if our IVF journey doesn't work out, but I am beginning to open my mind a bit to other options such as donor egg and donor embryos.

For me the decision was quite easy but then I do have older chidlren from when I was quite younger so it's not like I would have to mourn not passing on my dna, ect but if you are willing to open your hearts to adoption then donor eggs are a great choice, you are basically "adopting" a young girl's eggs and you have a bond with them from day of conception not just on day of birth, you get to grow and nuture the child.

I think any way you form a family is special and unique and as long as you love the child, how he or she came into your family is irrelevant.

Here is a donor egg community I have joined

It will give a LOT of info!! Good luck with your journey!

Tammylynn, thank you so much for the response and for sending that link. I heartily agree with your sentiment about how you form a family. Thank you for the kind wishes and I hope the same for you.
