morphology issue

Postby babydust530 » Fri Feb 06, 2015 9:06 am

Hi ladies,
I had a quick question about morphology. Just found out DH's morphology is 13% normal sperm. On the lab results page it states 30% or higher is recommended. However, his urologist didn't seem too concerned with this number, but did say it's a "minor issue". My questions are:
-does anyone have more information about our chances of conceiving naturally with 13% morphology?
-also what are some changes DH can make to his diet/routine that may improve morphology?

Hey hun
Are you sure it said 30% is normal? My hubs has 2% morphology (booo!!) but our dr said anything from 4% is normal?! And from what my RE has told me and also from what I have read morphology isn't that big of an issue as long as volume and count etc are all okay- only takes one so I always think even with my hubbys morphology 2% of 72million is a good 800,000 normal swimmers so it definately can happen- just may take a little longer xxx
When the world says "give up", hope whispers "try it one more time"

Thanks so much for your feedback. Yes, I guess every lab has diff standards and this lab said 30%greater was normal. My doctor isn't too concerned, so that makes sense. You are right it only takes one. :)

Hi

Amouna , just curious if you guys managed to get BFP? My DH also has 2% morph but his count is great (over 80 mn total count)

Babydust530, I see from your signature that you got your BFP :) Anything special that you did that cycle?

80 million! That's impressive. My husband's semen analysis result was the same with only 2% normal (scary that 4% is considered good (which would mean 96% was no good) & I thought he was doing well having 37 million. We were told anything over 15 million is good. We are repeating his test next week in case the first result surrounding the morphology percertage was just because he was having a bad day.

My hubby had low motility (>20%), bad morphology (>6%) and less than superb count and we conceived "naturally", to an extent. He was on clomid for 6 weeks before we got pregnant, that may or may not have made the difference.. But he also had low testosterone and undetectable FSH, which may have contributed to his spermie issues.

Naivelyhopeful, did I read that right, your husband was given clomid? I didn't know guys could take it. Congratulations on the BFP :)

Yep. Clomid for men is off label but studies have found pretty good results in improving testosterone levels and increasing sperm production! Of course, it's not the same for every man but for us, I feel it made the difference. Treating him with clomid was the cheaper alternative than HCG, which was the usual protocol for sperm quality issue at our fertility clinic..

Thank you so much and sending you so much luck and baby dust!

My husband takes 2000 mg daily of vitamin C. He has improved from 2% to 8%.
