Cycle after loss

Postby B Michaelson » Tue Nov 12, 2013 9:50 am

I have been reading a lot about post-loss cycles and some women say they go right back to normal and others have a shortened LP. Some have normal AF and others heavy and painful.

What was your LP and AF like before and after your loss? How long did it take your cycle to get back to normal?

I think my O might have been cd17 vs cd19 as per FF. this would only be a few days past my usual O. Until AF comes I have no idea if my LP is affected, but I assume not, at this point. Would like to hear what others experiences were though.

Thanks :)

I am still waiting for my AF so I will update soon! But I can say my O has been more painful but it came roughly on time. Usually Cycle day 12, this time cycle day 14 or 15 (hard to say what is cycle day 1) If one is the strat of bleeding then I O'd on CD 15, if it is heavy bleeding and passage of sac then I O'd on Cycle day 14...so a couple days later than usual...

I really want AF to hurry up and get here but I am a bit nervous that it will be more painful than normal.

So far it sounds like we are both pretty close to normal, so I'll take that as a good sign. :)

Before I had the miscarriage, before I got pregnant, I was pretty fresh off the pill. I'm not sure if my cycles were "normal" but I had a short (10-11 days) LP and ovulated around CD18.

It took a LONG time for my hcg to drop after the miscarriage - almost two full months. So I've only had two cycles since then. The first was pretty normal, but slightly longer, my LP went to 14 days. I ovulated CD17. Then I had a heavier than normal period, but it only lasted a few days.

I'm on the second cycle now, and it's all messed up. I have flat temps, I'm on CD21 and I have had no ewcm and have not ovulated. :/ I can't stand not knowing why this is happening, but I guess it's normal to take a few cycles to get back to normal.

Oh BethanyLynn, that is so frustrating not knowing. I have heard so many ladies say after the first AF things get messed up. I have a hard time understanding why our bodies get like that after the first AF. It seems backwards. I am still waiting for AF but thinking it should be here soon. I can almost feel that it will be here in a few days, but it will be a relief to just move forward.

Hearing you say you've heard a lot of women have irregular cycles after the first AF makes me so much better! It's hard not to feel like a failure sometimes.

I hope you get your AF soon, it's nice to reach that point and ttc again. :)

Ya I am so ready to just start trying again. I spent years WTT after my first loss and then a forced break for 6 months and now this. I feel like all I do is wait and wait.

To be honest I am a little scared about what AF might be like but I have a feeling the first one might be normal or light, but who knows.

Also I am sorry for your loss. Are you ttc now or wtt?

My first period came exactly 4 weeks after the D&C. But it lasted almost forty days! It was such a nightmare! My doctor said it was a hormone imbalance and put me on BCP. When that didn't take, she had to quadruple the dose to get AF to leave.

I am finally off BCP and having a very light period. So...as soon as we get off AF, we will begin TTC again. I am nervous and excited at the same time!

I am so sorry for your losses, ladies. It is so hard. Praying you get your rainbow babies!!

Wow Mel, that is nuts! Wishing you luck TTC and hope AF never comes back like that again.

BethanyLynn, good luck!

I am on cd4, 36 days after my surgery. My cycle was pretty much normal (31 days) and my AF seems to be gone now. It is almost weirding me out that things are back to normal so quickly. I was expecting much more of a disturbance. I suppose my hcg levels never really did get that high though.

I am so glad that your cycle has returned to normal! I was so excited when AF came right on time because I thought it meant that things were regulating fast and I'd be that much quicker to returning to TTC, but my body had other plans. LOL

Will you start trying again right away? Or do you have to wait a couple of cycles?

Well I want to try this cycle but dr said wait for 2 cycles so DH is not on board yet.

I asked him if he would if the dr gave us a go-ahead at the f/u and he said absolutley, but I will be O'ing at the same time. Hoping they can chg my appt. I am going to call today and see if they had any cancellations. Either that or I hope O is delayed at least a few days.

I was wondering the same thing -
I had MC/gave birth on Aug 29, 1st AF on Oct 18 and it was all normal not heavy or long, but now nothing!
I'm CD40, I used to have 32-36 day cycles with 1 really long 46 day one right before I had BFP.
not pregnant - I did a cheapy on Sunday - and BFN...not that we we're TTC as DH wanted to wait until we had the all clear from the Doctor...which I got on CD26...unless I O'd really late!

I'm just driving myself crazy thinking I cant be pregnant, but maybe my body is now not playing ball and maybe it'll take ages to get bpf again and I dont think i can handle that...

Sorry for ranting and taking over your post...I dont really have anyone other than you ladies to talk to x

Rachna you didn't take over. We are going through the same thing.

Everything seems so normal for me right now, I am just waiting for my cycles to blow up at some point.

We decided not to TTC this cycle because DH wants to wait for the ok from the dr first too.

I too am afraid once we start trying it could take ages. I read a study that my odds are down to about 65-70% chance of getting pg in a 12 months, but everything else says 30% reduction which sounds more like 55-65%.

I hope this get easier for you

:hugs:

So CD 2 today - finally got AF with a vengance yesterday afternoon - pretty heavy and clotty and painful though - not at all how they used to be.
Just a thought that If I catch the egg this cycle - (if there is an egg!) next AF could be due early Jan so if I wait to test I may get BFP on my angel's due date!
Feels kinda comforting at the moment...i'm sure it won't the closer i get to that date!
