Waiting for hcg to drop

Postby 80's Baby » Sun Mar 23, 2014 9:01 am

Hello, ladies. Well, I'm 4 days past my D&E. I passed big clots all day yesterday, and today is more like a heavy period. I'm feeling a hell of a lot better. Lol
How long did it take for your hcg to zero out? My last number was in the 40,000 range. From what I've read, it can drop 1000 points a day, which means I'm going to be waiting a while. When did you start testing? I'm guessing that I shouldn't bother until at least a month from now. What was your experience?
Thanks

Hi 80's baby :hugs: been following your saga

The longer you were pregnant the longer it takes. My miscarriage at 6 weeks a few days the pregnancy test had the same strength of line but by 9 days after it was a negative hpt. Took 6 weeks to get my period so obviously there must have been residual for a little bit after that.

Unfortunately it could be quite some time since your levels were so high. :hugs:
BFP on Friday Feb 3rd 2017 but ended in miscarriage at 7 1/2 weeks :(

Didn't chart this time, last time was TTC for over a year, BFP chart from daughter :D :

My hcg levels were in the 8800s before I used misoprostol for a blighted ovum.
I used the pills Feb 4 and 5.
Hcg level drops were:
Feb 13 = 1064 (down 88% from pre-misoprostol)
Feb 20 = 300
Feb 27 = 111
Mar 13 = 25
Mar 27 = 12

It's been a slow drop for me.
I used misoprostol at 10w4d but my baby never fully developed due to the blighted ovum so the sac only measured at 5w.
EDIT note: Updated Mar 27 hcg.

My levels were at 200 000 and it took about 7 weeks to test negative.

Just to update you, my HCG on April 10th was 10. I am now 9 weeks post-misoprostol use and still not "below 5".

Hi 80's baby. I had a D&C at 9 weeks where baby stopped growing at about 8.5. It took 8 full weeks .. but I finally had 5 or 6 days of brown spotting. I tested positive for quite some time as well, so hang in there.

I know it is the worst just wanting to move on!

Just got more blood work done. I am now 11 weeks post miscarriage and my hcg is at 9. Sigh. Still not below 5. Feeling very annoyed.

Kandii, have you got af yet? I started yesterday, but I don't know if that means my hcg is actually gone.

I had an AF like bleed at the beginning of April and ovulation pain on the 15th of April but with an hcg around ten at those times not sure if that was a real AF and ovulation or just my body trying up re-sync itself.

Yeah, that's what I'm worried about. I'm psyched because I got my period, but I still don't know if I can start trying again. I can't believe your hcg is sticking around like that! I'm thinking that maybe I should get another beta to make sure. It just makes me mad because insurance isn't covering anything. :(

I couldn't imagine having to deal with insurance for this type of thing.
I live in Canada so everything like that is covered.

Yeah, it's a mess. Every time I get blood drawn, it's $80. I have insurance, but it's a $6500 deductible. That means I have to spend $6500 before insurance will cover a dime. And my monthly premium is $90. So far this year, I've paid over $2000 in healthcare costs. And dh only makes 41k a year.

Jeez that's very high costs! I would have spent 800 dollars by now for just beta hcg tests if I had to pay!
That's insane!
Is that 2000 just for the miscarriage?

Yep. Two ultrasounds, 5 blood draws, two consultations and the d&e. $2000.
