How long to wait?

Postby Maybabe2015 » Thu Oct 02, 2014 4:42 am

Was just wondering how long every body waited to ttc after miscarriage/chemical ect....
It might sound selfish, but I really do not want to wait...

I'm sorry for your loss. I can relate to just waningt to get right back into ttc. I don't think it's selfish at all.

I've had 2 mc's. Both times I just wanted to try again asap. With the 1st mc i tried again after my next cycle and conceived 1st time.

With this last mc I tried straight from my first O which was 2wks after my loss. My body definately was still sorting itself out though as even though I o'd, my temps were a bit odd (flat) and I still had hcg in my system. I still tested positive until about 4 days before my first af post mc arrived.

How soon you try again is such an individual thing. There's the emotional and physical aspects to it. I had no reason physically to wait and emotionally, conceiving again (or trying to) was the only thing that could help me heal.

I hope you get your rainbow soon.

Thank you, Mamabear!
I am sorry too, for your losses.

I am so confused after this miscarriage, I felt like something wasn't right from the start & wasn't all that shocked when the nurse told me. I am keeping focused on TTC again, to keep my mind off of it. But feel really selfish..
You know, my friend said to me...You wouldn't go out and buy a new dog the day after your dog passed away, so why would you try and get pregnant again straight away? She made me feel awful! :(

That was a bit harsh coming from your friend. Perhaps he/she has never endured a mc? Try no to let this insensitive comment get to you. See it for what it is.

This is how I see it. Firstly, to use your friend's dog analogy.....some people actually DO go out and buy a new dog the day after they lose a dog. For some people that's what they need. Others need a little more time. Neither is wrong.

Secondly, you CAN actually go out a buy a dog the day after (or even the same day) you lose one if you so desire. You're not doing that with a baby as it's impossible. You cannot ttc until a period of time has passed, in which you tend to grieve, before your body is physically able to conceive again.

Thirdly, I know we all love our pets but you cannot compare needing and loving a pet to the maternal urge to have a child. So comparing replacing a lost pet with ttc after a loss is just insensitive and plain ridiculous.

So hunny, put this perspective on your friend's comment and hopefully you will feel different. Your friend was probably just concerned for you, but only you can determine when you're ready.

I'm sure many ladies on here would understand your desire to be trying again.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I think you should start trying whenever you feel ready. I lost my very first pregnancy in August and decided to try the next cycle. Weve been trying for about a year, so after loosing that pregnancy, I have been anxious to have that feeling again. I'm on my second cycle now and am hopeful I will get another bfp in the next few months. I've decided to remain positive and hope for the best.

That was pretty insensitive of your friend. Everyone deals with a loss differently. It's your body, your decision and you should feel comfortable with whatever you decide.

I am going through a mc right now and wondering the same thing. The NP I saw told me I should wait until I have a regular period and then try. Is that really necessary? Or can I try when I stop bleeding and just temp?

I recently had a miscarriage at around 5 weeks. When I had called the doctor the nurse informed they recommend patients to wait at least one cycle or period. I just had a physical with the midwife last Friday and told her I feel that I will be coming up on my first ovulation since the miscarriage. She did not seem to have a specific reason to wait to try again. I was not very far along and did follow my hcg levels down to below 1. I have read mixed reviews on whether or not you should wait. The midwife did not say that we would be at an increased risk of miscarrying again which was nice to hear. Basically my dh and I are not preventing and I feel like if it happens it happens. I feel like if I'm not meant to get pregnant right away then my body will not allow it.

That is pretty much what I am planning on doing. Im trykng to focus in getting my body as healthy as possible and recouperated. Because who is to say just because we start trying that it wont be another while ttc anyways.

Sorry to hear of your losses, ladies!

I wasn't told to wait, my MW said that if I wanted to, I can start as soon as bleeding stops. My bleeding did stop, so I started charting and using opks ect, only to be told at a check up that my Hcg was still 2000 & I still had retained products 22 days after MC.
So, if it wasn't for that I would be very much in my 'TTC zone' ....
It is completely up to you & how you are feeling. As long as everything is complete and hcg is back to >5 go for it.
Good Luck ladies :)

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that! My dr wanted me to go in for betas after 1 week (yesterday ) to be sure my levels were negative and they were. Temping is going kinda weird. My chart looks way different than last month. I hope your levels go down soon!
