Conceiving immediately after loss

Postby tryingnumber3 » Mon Oct 20, 2014 6:36 pm

Has anyone safely conceived immediately following a mc? The NP I saw today advised me to wait to try until I have had one normal period after I finish my mc. From what she told me, it just seemed to be so they could accurately date the pregnancy, and not any health reasons. I would have been 6 weeks today, so I wasn't very far along. I would love any advise anyone has to offer.

I have had two mc's. The first was 7yrs ago - my 1st pregnancy. I didn't know then what I do know now so I can't say we actively TTC after that mc. I think I was told to wait until my first AF. I didn't know I could ovulate before that AF. Anyway, I conceived straight away that next cycle.

With my 2nd mc (August 2014) I was a bit more clued up. I wasn't told to wait so when I O'd 2wks after my mc we tried. But even though I clearly O'd, I believe my body was still sorting itself out as my temp chart looked quite flat after O.

I have read online of many people having successful pregnancies immediately after mc with their 1st ovulation. I think it depends on whether your Dr has given you the all clear physically, whether you feel ready mentally, and a good dose of luck to get that BFP immediately. I wasn't one of those lucky ones but I'm still in the game :)

I hope you get your rainbow baby soon.

Thank you for your story! I just started taking some red raspberry and iron in addition to my prenatal to try to get my body ready again. I think I am ready mentally. I think having another baby will make me feel better.

It's been a busy and tiring week, so I haven't been online much. I started feeling nauseous this week and hope it doesn't last long. :(

@tryingnumber3 -- I plan on sitting one cycle out then TTC again. Or atleast thats the plan, we will see how I feel when that time comes. Mainly, I need to sit a cycle out to heal physically, start charting again - and to lose the 5 pounds I gained from 12 weeks of pregnancy.

You mentioned taking some red raspberry and iron, what all should I be taking to make my body healthy for a second pregnancy?

So sorry for your loss Katy. I would take the red raspberry from the bleeding until o. And I also took dong quai for that same time, I read it was good for after a mc. Iron with oj in the morning (for max absorption) and a prenatal at night.
