TTC after Ectopic

Postby TeamSmizznoeBaby » Fri Jan 16, 2015 12:32 pm

Anyone else in my boat? I just got in the boat on Saturday. Thought I miscarried naturally in December but baby was hiding in my left fallopian tube.
Had emergency surgery early Saturday morning and doctor had to take part of the left tube. Still have both ovaries so each month will be a toss of the dice on whether we can conceive.
This kind of feels like partial infertility! But we conceived on our 2nd month trying in November so I have hope that it won't be too long this next time.

When we DO conceive again, its straight into the doctor for monitoring since there is a chance an ectopic could happen again, unfortunately.

Would love to have some buddies who are in a similar situation each month! We will get our rainbow babies!

Re: TTC after Ectopic

Postby SEPT2014 » Wed Jan 21, 2015 2:58 pm

Hey teamsmizz so sorry you are going through this. I had my right tube removed in emerg lap because I was having twins but miscarried one and 4 days after miscarriage my right tube ruptured (i waited 8 days on a scan even though I was bleeding and had back pain and flagged my concerns about ectopic lots of times, they kept dismissing me) they got quite a shock when they did the scan, all I could say was "i told you so when you made me wait 8 days, they only spotted it on a reassurance scan the day after it ruptured, they brought straight up to surgery theatre at 1pm, told me they had day surgeries to do and they would operate on me by 6pm. I ended up telling them well I know I am bleeding internally and my pulse is 126 per minute and rising and I said I simply won't be here at 6pm, I pointed out my rising pulse to the nurse, she alerted the surgeon, they couldn't get any veins on me I was so dehydrated, they had to speed up my iv, I was brought in 30 mins after I alerted the nurse to my pulse. They took out 500ml of internal bleeding from the rupture in abdominal cavity, they said they were close to doing blood transfusion. My haemoglobin was only 7 as I had been bleeding with miscarriage for about 2 weeks prior but even after miscarrying the ectopic pregnancy meant my hcg went way up and my lining was started to grow again. Ectopic pregnancy is so scary and I have learnt that your own instincts and what you feel in your body is 99% correct. And don't let any doctor dismiss your concerns.

I was in shock for a long time afterwards I didn't start grieving properly until my pain from surgery eased, I was in shock becau it feltlike i had watched it on tv, like it didn't happen to me. I didn't grieve straight away as I was in disbelief as nobody came to consult with me after surgery, terrible experience in hospital, I couldn't cry for at least 4 weeks after my surgery partly because I was too sore to cry, laugh or do anything physical. I was afraid to burst my stitches.

You can see my charts for my cycles etc during and after the loss in January. Ask me if you have any questions, I felt so lost afterwards, the hospital didn't tell me what happened or what to expect or when to try again etc, I was so angry with them. I also found it a very lonely and stressful time because people (some) will avoid you, they won't even ask how you are, they will keep their children away from you, bot visit etc I was so disappointed by how people reacted. I wanted to talk about it but people just did not want to know, esp those who live close to me. I am doing a lot better now, we conceived again on cycle 2 after surgery but had a very early loss, I hope third time works a trick!
I am sure all will be fine for you next time, I know of plenty of cases on the boards. Have you had hormone tests done or any check ups?

Hey ladies. Mind if I join?
I had my left tube removed due to ectopic in Feb 2013.
I had a dye test that showed my right tube open but so far we have not conceived again. I started clomid this cycle as I'm not ovulating every month. I'm 1-2 dpo but not sure this cycle was successful : /

Hi everyone. I'm glad to see there are others in my situation. Though I am very sorry for your losses.
I am still in recovery mode and am dealing with a lot of depression most of the time as well. All my emotions hit me hard this past Friday. I had been running a fever all week and it finally started to subside Friday but along with it came so many emotions. I am still dealing with a lot of swelling, joint stiffness and pain, but its slowly starting to get better.
