Ladies I apologize for posting yet again but I just got to view my actual results, when the ER called they did not give me my hcg levels...they just said "I am sorry you are miscarrying". But my levels went up, they were 24154, the draw before they were 21504 (2 days prior). They did an ultrasound, the baby was measuring right on point 7 wks 4 days, but no fetal heart rate detected. The first US there was a heartbeat of 120bpm at 6 wks 3 days. I am very confused how I can be miscarrying when my hcg levels are rising, slowly, but seem to be rising....

I really hope that they were incorrect! I think it was likely based on the lack of heart beat.

I had a miscarriage at 6weeks and was called right before to be told my HCG was rising and not to worry. Sadly it wasn't rising fast enough I guess. This experience lead me to believe that it starts slowing down before it starts going down...

Maybe there concern was the rate of rise coupled with the lack of heartbeat...?

Hopefully they got it wrong! See what your OB GYN says maybe? Are you still spotting? Bleeding? Cramping?

I have a small glimmer of hope they were wrong...busy ER night (people were being triaged and sent to waiting room bcause no beds). I can accept no heartbeat but cannot understand why the fetus was measuring right where it should and my hcg levels rose. Prior to going to the ER I had seen my OB he was not concerned about anything he in fact even said your levels are rising we will see what the ultrasound Tues looks like and go from there. I went and got a second phone opinion who said to go to ER...To be honest I never felt pregnant, minus some killer migraines.

I am still bleeding, enough to wear a panty liner, but it isnt soaking through or leaking out the side. I have no cramping, no backaches, etc. It is bright red but has not increased nor have I seen any clots. I dont even feel like I would if I were on my period.

Here are the stats to date; maybe it would help?

Aug 24 hcg levels 15000s (did not receive an exact number)
Sept 9 hcg level 18306; diagnosed with an infection and prescribed Keflex
Sept 11 hcg level 21504
Sept 13 hcg level 24514

US Sept 4; 6wks 3 days fh 120bpm
US Sept 13; 7wks 4 days no heartbeat detected

I would push for another ultra sound to check for a heart beat. Maybe they were so busy that they didn't take enough time to find it. There are many reasons that you could be bleeding. There are many women that bleed enough to think they were having their period so they didn't find out they were preggers until the third month or longer. Like the women on shows about not knowing they were pregnant until they were actually having the baby. It isn't an actual period, but is enough that the women don't even consider the fact they might be pregnant. So get another opinion, would be my advice. I don't trust ers bc I had a really horrible experience in one in Denver, so my opinion is colored by that. Could it be the infection that's causing you to bleeding? Got my fx for you that the er was just so busy that they didn't try hard enough to find the heart beat and just told you that you were miscarrying to move you on your way and get to the next patient. Fx that they were just busy ass-hats.

So I decided to look up an HCG doubling calculator to see what was expected for HCG around 7 weeks. The one i found stopped at 26 DPO for input. So it's not a hundred percent accurate but what I read said that after a beta HCG of over 6000, the rate of increase is not a reliable indicator of the viable pregnancy only the heartbeat on the ultrasound is. However over 6,000 HCG you should be doubling around every 96 hours/4 days. The rate of increase between your last two numbers (assuming 48 hours between them) is a doubling rate of every 10 days which is probably why they thought there was something off. however if the ultrasound was really quick I would definitely say have it done again to make sure. Or wait and see if your symptoms get worse/better? this is an awful situation I'm so sorry you're going through it.

here's the site I found I'm not a hundred percent sure of its accuracy but it did cite sources in certain places so I thought it looked pretty reasonable.

I noticed too that my levels were not "doubling" as they should, but also saw that sometimes low rising hcg levels are ok. My OB saw and said levels were/are rising. He never seemed concerned.

Sept 9th; it was drawn around 930p
Sept 11th; it was around 1030am
Sept 13th; it was around 630p.

I think I am just not accepting of all it..I am still bleeding, but nothing heavy, never really has been. And the ultrasound, they said no cardiac rhythm/activity detected..I think I am just holding on...but still don't understand how the fetus was measuring where it should week and day wise, I have not had heavy bleeding or anything, and a slight rise in hcg.. Tues at 230 I have an US scheduled and I am praying that somehow I am or lost a phantom twin?

I got my fx for you that your ultra sound will find a good strong heart beat. My mom was on bcp when she found out she was 7 months pregnant with my sister. She told her doc she thought she was preggers bc she felt like she did when she was pregnant with my brother. He just told her she was bleeding soooo much bc her body hadn't adjusted to the pill. She made him give her an exam and he found she was 7 months. She had my sister a little over a month later. They figure she was hemorrhaging bc she lost a twin. The hcg levels are not always a great indicator. My SIL had a friend who never had a positive htp or beta, but she was still sure that she was pregggers, so she finally made them do an ultra sound on her and found out she was 6 months preggers with a healthy baby, boy, I believe it was. So I'd just wait and see what they say on Tuesday before grieving too much. I got my everything crossed you get great news. From what I've read once hcg levels reach 6000, the doubling rate slows down drastically. If your baby has grown and they find a heart beat, you shouldn't worry about the doubling of hcg as long as it's rising. Everything crossed for you for happy news on Tuesday. Keep us posted.

:( I apologize for TMI....Sadly I began cramping in the middle of the night with much heavier blood flow with clots and what I assume to be part of the fetus or sac....Any glimmer of hope I had is officially gone. I am so mad. I don't want anymore blood draws, I don't want to go tmrw for the ultrasound. I just want it all to be over. :( I wasn't prepared for pregnancy, than I accepted it...then to miscarrying, I have never had one, never knew how emotional, how angry, how devestating it all is. And the aloneness, I feel so horribly alone its horrible.

I know the feeling of feeling alone and wanting so bad for it all to just be over... However, you are not alone. Once I told people about my MC I found so much women who had gone through it. We understand! We are here for you...

I am so confused my OB just called, he said to cancel my ultrasound for tmrw....that it won't do us much good...he would rather just have bloodwork done. Explained that during a mc that the levels can rise and fall but if they continue to rise we'll order another US in a few weeks. I will be honest, I CANNOT WAIT. I need to be at peace with myself....I would think that the US would be the best and "quickest" way for my mind and heart to know if this is viable or not. I cannot deal with knowing that my levels can go up and down and be in limbo. I need to grieve or celebrate. Is it wrong that I dont plan to cancel my US? It would have been 5 days since the US that showed no fetal activity...
