As for kids, both are doing well, even at this early age they play so well. Jen can make him laugh better then any of us, she spends hours playing peek-a-boo, talking & reading to him. No jealousy yet, she still sees him as a brand new toy. But I'm sure once he's mobile and getting into her stuff she will she will have a change of heart . Started Jacob of solids a week ago b/c formula wasn't holding him anymore. He licks the bowl clean....lil man loves anything I give him

Mary- We have the opposite of this here. She won't play with them at all and they won't eat most of what I give them. I don't think the dynamic at your house will change when he is mobile, she will probably like playing with him more. B does play wrestlemania and tripple-tickle under the blanket with them, but mostly she plays by herself and she ALWAYS gets too rough with them and ends up on time out. She hates to share ONE thing with them. I have to beg her to let them touch things. Its really sad.

I did so much preparing too I really thought she would like siblings, but she just doesn't dig them at all. She ignores them still and always has. Hopefully soon, I'll find more things they can play together.

Food is frustrating because they won't let me feed them with a spoon, they want to do it themselves, but then they don't eat anything. I have to clean two trays and two babies and two chairs and all they did was smear it all over the place.

They seem to do best with self feeding things like puffs, pasta, pears, but Parker chews and spits it out and Lana is very very messy.

not complaining, but not going as well as it is at your house. Sometimes I forget completely to feed B lunch, then she cries and acts out and after a few time outs I'm like OMG I forgot to feed her...

I suck at feeding these kids. :( I need some ideas or advice or something.

sweets- wanna start a summer thread?

Mary- you'd be proud of me. I ordered stuff from Old Navy. Summer PJ's for the kids and one top and shorts for me. All my shorts are all messed up from the pregnancy. They can only stretch so far before even a drawstring can't save them. Anyway, just made up my mind and did it. Very unlike me.

Nicole -- good for you! Yep it sounds like it was time to retire those shorts. I've been stuck in a wardrobe rut since I packed the maternity clothes away. Since I am still holding on to some baby weight (and then some from BEFORE) my prepregnancy bottoms are still too tight  . I really don't want to buy bigger shorts/capri's b/c I keep telling myself I will loose 15-20 by the summer and will beable to fit the old clothes. Really think I'm kidding myself, I just can't seem to muster up the time and energy to exercise. I am beyond disgusted with my body but I've really been to darn tired to care about it enough to change, KWIM? I don't either bother looking 'below the neck' in the mirror anymore  . But when the 'skinny girl' in me starts to make me depressed about the extra flab...the 'tired mommy' in me takes out her stick and beats the skinny girl up and makes me forget about it again  . I guess being tired does have some advantages  .

Commenting on your other post.....You aren't doing anything wrong (the way you feed the twins or with brianna's behavior). Our kids just have different personalities. Jen has that MOTHER HEN quality like Sweets. She's always mothering the other kids around her. Thats another thing, Jen has always been in daycare so she's always had to share and interact with other kids and babies. I really think you did a great job in preparing Bri for the babies arrival, it might take her some time to fully appreciate them thats all. Wow sounds like you more then have your hands full with the eating X's two  . Are they still eating baby food? Have the babies always regected the spoon? IF not it could just be the age their in, when they want to start feeding themselves? Jacob is already trying to grap the the spoon out my hand but after he gags himself with it he looses interest and gives it back. Maybe its time to start giving them tablefood? Really there is no magic answer, you just have to keep trying different things to try to get them interested. They seem to be a healthy weight so I wouldn't worry about them NOT eating enough. HTH some.

Well gotta run, lots of work today :PPPPPPP.

they have 8 teeth and have been eating table food for a while. I guess I feel I have to back it up with jar food cuz I'm not sure how much table food actually gets in their mouth, but i"m seriously giving up on jar food (again) after this last 5 jars I just bought. No one likes it, so we're done. I'm focusing on trying to get everyone in the house to eat the same things so I'm not cooking 5 dinners every night.

mary- top baby names of 2010, jacob and isabella.

Hey everybody - long week so sorry haven't been around. Will try and stick to just a quick post for now. Am doing ok. Sorry didn't bring up the surgery thing and warn anybody ahead of time. Less invasive than what carter has had done. Essentially, they stick long catheters in spots along your spine and then cauterize the nerves causing the pain so the pain signal doesn't have anywhere to go. I was feeling pretty nervous about it because I had to stay awake (although gently doped for relaxation) throughout the thing and it was a whole lot of painful to be honest. Did well although I cried because of the pain. If the surgeon hadn't been wearing a lead apron (they guide the stuff using a type of xray) I think I'd have probably reached out and grabbed his "ahem" to let him know the pain I was feeling  . Am doing ok although extremely sore and having weird sensations (normal though for the procedure). My friend's little kids don't understand why I can't pick them up and hug them and why I'm moving like a turtle though but they are very sweet and gently with me right now.

gard - Will have to explain the FB thing to you and mary later. Had to giggle that you made your own cake though. And you're right, why is it that there's only a few small differences in ingredients/amounts for something to be a cake versus cookies? Hope you didn't think I was saying that you don't have fun. I know you do. I remember you saying long ago though that Tom did bring that into your life more though. I'm convinced that I'm just at the wrong age for dating regardless at this point. There's a lack of guys, and those who are available seem like total jerks, or just of no particular interest. The one I did have interest in I think just doesn't want to let anyone in his world. Whatever. Good things come to those who wait. Sometimes I grieve still what I've lost, but then I remember that things happen for reasons too -- ones that I may not even know yet what they are, some I definitely know and understand. And I still don't think the grass really is all that greener on the other side!!! As for Benihana, I'm not in such and urban area that there is one. I think the closest is probably hour and a half or so away. Maybe you, me mary and whoever wants to join us should plan to meet someday at a Benihana. That'd be fun!!!

mary - wow! Jacob licking his plate clean??? Would he actually do that if you let him? I have to say that it really warmed my heart to hear that your mom came to make peace with your brother. I am sad for you all that for whatever reason, he can't make peace or let God heal his heart and forgive whatever it is that's keeping him from having a family relationship. Your parents seem like such loving people and caring for you all. Your brother is obviously driven to do something with his life, but remember that someday he has to seek forgiveness, or give that forgiveness first. It's sad that some people realize that too late. Your mom has done her part and I am happy to hear that her heart is healing, despite your brother turning her away. She has to be very hurt by that, but sounds like you all know that you can't change him --- he has to want it and do that himself. It only takes a single second for things to change. I pray that he'll come around. All you can do in the meantime is keep on loving and hoping and praying for him. We don't always see those prayers answered, but we certainly have peace in knowing that we tried and loved despite. Hugs to you my friend.

carter - am guessing you are just about ready to tie up your student teaching ends this week or so. Doesn't seem possible that it's may already and the kids are really only in school for about another month (at least where I am). Am feeling a bit old since one of my very good and old friend's son's graduated from college last week. He's a great young man, smart as a whip like his parents (his Dad is a rocket scientist---- really!) and headed to a good grad school this fall. I keep wondering where time has gone.

amers --- 7????????? How'd that happen??? Thanks for the link to the pics. Will have to jump on there and check them out. That was really sweet of you to send it to me so me (the non FBer like mary) so I can see them. Any big plans for the birthday boy? Hope you're starting to feel a bit more like yourself again now too. Please tell me that you are managing to get some time in for yourself and/or doing something JUST for you/relaxing. If not, don't make me come over there and drag you for it!!!

Ok. Enough for me. This office chair is not comfortable and I need to go and chill for a bit. I think this week I am understanding more how you all can be so sleep deprived, yet functioning. Can imagine how you yearn for those STTN times and an actual 8 hours of shut eye.

Thank goodness it's Friday tomorrow, although I'm not sure where this week got to.

Student teaching ended last week. Yay! Now I just need to get a job. I got a scholarship from a local teacher sorority. $250 to help toward setting up a classroom when I have one...so that was good news. I subbed in a 5th grade classroom yesterday...maybe they will keep calling me here and there in May, any little bit helps with this bathroom repair/remodel. I am still awake, waiting for a cake to cool down. Triple chocolate fudge for DH's b-day. The water aerobics are going well so far. I went on Tuesday and today. The class is 50 minutes. I'm the youngest in there, but I don't mind it...probably not too many 30 year olds that have disc and arthritis issues.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I am behind in posting, but keeping up with reading.

Praise the lord it is FRIDAY!!! I can't get over its Mothers Day already. HAPPY EARLY MD TO EVERYONE!!! Including Mother Hen SWEETS!!!! Sweets, you of all people know you don't have to be someones biological mother to be loved as a mother....we love you! Anyone have special plans Sunday? I already got my gift...a new showerhead. We are going eat at Kerrys grandma, his uncle is down from Alaska so they are having a crawfish boil. Meg is suppose to bringing Benton. He's doing super well, off oxygen and eating like a champ  ! Can't wait to see the lil cutie patootie.

Sweets -- Oh my gosh that sounds so painful :( :hugs: . I had no idea you had back issues that severe. I don't have back issues but I do have an idea of what its like to have someone shoving something in your spine. My last epideral was a nightmare, he had to stick me three different time to get the catherer right, I was crying b/c it hurt so much. That was the worse part childbirth  . My SIL has been putting off surgery for years now b/c of the recovery time, she can't afford to be off work for 2-3 months. Are you back at work, I can't remember think you said you were.

Guess what I found...Chocolate wine!?!? It may sound sorta gross but it taste just like liguid chocolate russian (my fav daiquri). Its strong 15% so you have to be careful not to overdo it. Its called CHOCOVINE. I like to mix it with ice in the blender and turn it into a daiquri. The only bad thing is having to explain to Jenna that she can't have a sip of mommys chocolate 'smoothie.'

Don't think Jacob could literally lick his bowl clean but I guarentee he could chew the dickens out of it  . He eats everydrop of babyfood, and he wants it NOW! As soon as you take the spoon out his mouth you have to hurry and give him another spoonful or he will start fussing. He reminds me of a hungry baby bird, his mouth is open and hes shaking side-to side like he's starving. Jen likes to feed him but she plays around with the spoon and doesn't move fast enough for him, he gets mad. Yesterday he yanked the spoon out her hand b/c she was taking her good old time playing 'here comes the airplane'....its was too funny.

Nicole --Sounds like it is time to ditch the jar food. I wouldn't keep wasting money on if they aren't touching it. I wouldn't worry about not feeding the babies enough, I'm sure they will let you know when they are hungry. I'm sure Jacob will be the same way after he taste tablefood. Getting everyone to eat the same thing can be a pain. Right now we do that (with the exeption to Jacob) about 50% but sometimes its just easier to fix Jen the same old thing she always wants....PB&J, grilled cheese,mac-n-cheese, etc.

Jacob and Isabella? No surprise there  . There are lots of Bella's running around here but still have yet to hear of any other Jacob's.

Carter -- Congrats on finishing student teaching! Kudos on the scholarship money, any amount is a blessing. I had no idea how much money some teacher have to spend out their own pocket on classroom setup and supplies, a friend was telling me about it a few weeks ago. So how life living in a construction zone? It DH doing most of it himself? My dad is DIY'er but Kerry would rather pay someone else to do it ;P. Now when it comes to electronics/computers he is wiz. Mmmmm TCFudge cake....droolllllllllllllllllllllll. HAPPY B-DAY to your DH! Water aerobics sound fun. The age thing wouldn't bother me either, you have to do the right type of exercise for your body. The dr keeps telling my MIL thats what she needs for her arthritis but the nearest place is 2 hr drive :P. I really hope it helps ease your back issues.

Well I better scoot if I want to get out of here at a decent time. Lots of shopping to do this evening, have a great weekend!!!!

Oh crap! gard asked me to start a new thread -- will get it done this weekend ladies. It can be my mother's day present to ya'll.

mary - you are too cute! And the chocovine wine sounds deeeliissshhh!! Will have to look for some and give it a try. Shame on me but I still have a bottle of Godiva chocolate liquer (sp?) that a friend gave me. Was saving it for something special -- but hey, I'm something special so that's enough of a reason to open it! And yes, I'm really in a lot of pain right now. It's effecting my leg and hip especially right now. Am a tough cookie though and so will get through this and keep a going. I miss working out so much and that's been something I've been unable to do for a bit. Jacob sounds much like my friend's little boy at that age. If you weren't moving fast enough feeding him/getting bottle/distracted in conversation during feeding, he'd let you know right away and then some!!!!!! Jacob's a growing boy and knows what he wants! How is J doing with your "cutting back" on the sweet stuff thing? Hoping all is well and she's not even missing some of the stuff at all.

carter - that's awesome that you got a bit of a scholarship to help with your classroom! What a treat Teachers now have to buy so many things on their own for teaching. I'm sure it's a god-send to have it to start out with. Yay for you and water aerobics too. The lady who teaches the class at my local Y has done so for years and it's really a lot of fun. There were always a bunch of older ladies in it, and then you throw in a few of us younger ones and we're like wild in the group. We'd get the old ones stirred up like crazy laughing and being goofy at times. Are you tired when you come out, or really feeling it in your back at all? I'm such a fish and really have missed swimming as part of a work out. One of these days I'll talk the dr into letting me give swimming laps a try again too. For now, goal is just to be able to get back to working out. Cake sounds yummy!!!! Wish you could send me some. Wish dh happy birthday. You have a few fairly close together, don't you.

gard - sorry I forgot about your new thread request. Am a bit on the slow brain side at the moment so need to get my act together and get it done.

Hoping that you all have something special planned - or get to do/be/have something wonderful for Mother's Day. I think you all are such wonderful and kind and caring moms - not to mention friend as well. I wish you all a wonderful time and lots of love on Mom's Day!

Mwwaaahhh!!
