Nicole - At first we were in denial and trying to figure out ways for his energy, but it just got worse. I finally talked to the Dr and she gave us and his teacher a form to fill out. It is basically a questions/answer form. We then took the forms to the Dr and we started medication. It is amazing how different he is on and off the meds. We have tried NOT giving the meds but we can't handle him off meds. Kirsten has ADD but she is earning to manage it off the meds. Anthony has ADHD with severe hyperactivity. I am not sure what symptoms D has but Anthony can not sit still is constantly "on the go". He is always bouncing off the walls and he was very disruptive during school which caused him to always be in trouble. Homework would take 3-4 hours when it should only take 30-45 minutes because he was constantly distracted even when he was sitting at the dining room table with nothing else and no one bothering him. Now he rarely gets in trouble at school, can do his homework in less than an hour and he can sit down without fidgeting most of the time.

Here are the questionnaires we were given - http://www.nichq.org/resources/adhd_toolkit.html We completed the Vanderbilt Assessment Scale – Parent Informant and the teacher completed the Vanderbilt Assessment Scale – Teacher Informant for the first appt and then the follow-up after 6 months. You can look at them and make the decision based on your/DH answers about D. I looked at the form and decided to let DH fill out the form to see if he had the same answers I would to the questions. After he looked at the form he said "he definitely has ADHD" because of the answers he selected which were almost the exact same as mine.

Hello everyone--hadn't gotten a notification in a loong time; skimmed so I know I will miss a bunch.

Whoever asked about potty training (aka..?) I know this sounds stupid, but I don't really know. When they start wanting to be diaper free or nekkid (or making a point to let you know they peed/pooped-or need to) then I just make sure I stick them on the potty periodically. I guess that is potty training!? lol They are "trained" by no more than 3 yrs. And "potty trained" means different things depending on who you ask. To me it means they take care of business by themselves. Always (except wiping ;) ). No accidents, and no reminders. No night time diapers. Luke is just now pooping on the potty-he turned 2 this month.
I have changed diapers for 2 kids at once and to me it wasn't a big deal, but I understand the apprehension.

scases--Happy Birthday!! Hope you missed the awful weather.

Moo--YAY for BDing commencement. Not sure if you remember, but I used to have really bad AF cramps (like throwing up from pain), and I mentioned having kids helped. When you got dx with endo I wondered if I had it and somehow childbirth cured it...Glad you had a better AF so far. :D

jess--Thanks for asking-my cousin is ok, I think it is finally sinking in a bit. The memorial was Saturday (Holy Saturday!) and she kinda lost it; hard to watch. We don't know where she's going to live next year-for now she is staying with my uncle so she can finish the school year.

My attempt at "gardening". My wisteria seeds actually sprouted!!!  I had them in a bowl. Now I can't find it; it's not anywhere around where I left it...and everyone just looks at me when I ask about it. So somewhere there is a bowl with my lil sprouts. :( Oh well.

Mary - you have to tease us and make us go hunt down your post. Goes to show you that you don't need medical intervention. Another one unmedicated. :)

AKA - I am sorry to hear what you are going through

My garden is doing great even after being neglected for a week. I put some cages around the tomatoes. I have some more banana peppers growing. I have spinach and lettuce to pick. The cucumbers are flowering but no cucumbers. The same for the watermelon and cantaloupe. The herbs are doing great as well. The only thing that is not doing too well are the green onions and bell peppers. I may go see if I can find some bell pepper plants at the store. They are growing but very slow compared to everything else.

So Delaney has started this phase of needing me to lay with her to go to sleep and then she has also been getting up in the night and needing me to lay with her so I am exhausted. Do you guys think this is just a phase? has it happened with you guys?

I don't really mind the laying down with her at bedtime because it's bonding time and she goes to sleep faster. if I don't lay with her she will just cry, or say she has to go potty, or get up or need a drink so I get frustrated going back upstairs a million times whereas if I lay with her then she will just be still and cuddle and go to sleep.

last night she slept until 4 a.m. so that's a little better than the night before so I'm hoping she will go back to STTN again soon. I think part of it is because of the fever she had and waking her up in the night to get that back down. who knows.

WAit, what is going on with MAry?! I don't see anything on her chart.

tiff - I dont' have personal advice but a friend of mine went thru the same thing with her son at this age. She was exhausted. She said she would have to lay in the floor beside his bed at night to get him to go back to sleep. She wasn't sure what it was. She thought maybe teething but didn't know for sure. Anyway it was just a phase. Allbeit an exhausting phase.

Aka - Thinking about you.

Slowly getting things planted. I got my tomatos that I am going to can with in. Pkus brussel sprouts, spinach, and swiss chard. Today I'm going to try to get my bell peppers, banana peppers, and jalapeno peppers in.

just1 - yeah I do remember you saying that about your period. You were the first person I thought of when I noticed AF arrived and I wasn't having cramps. : )
