Hi everyone,

Sorry it's been a while. I went away for 6 days for the triathlon and it was very busy!

It went really really well. DH did so well and all his training and preparation really paid off. I was so proud of him and I think he even surprised himself. He is already talking about the next one!

It kind of does make reality hit home now - we were talking last night and the triathlon has been such a distraction and kind of an "excuse" I guess not to have to deal with stuff. Now we need to just get on with it I guess. I should be seeing AF today or tomorrow. We will be at the doctor on Thursday and I guess we get this show on the road from there. It's exciting but now that there's no "after this" I am also getting quite scared. The first step is to somehow get sperm - so we will probably need to make a trip to the urologist. Will keep you ladies posted.

Anyway - Staying - how are you going? Can you catch me up on where you are? I know it's number 4 coming up and that's always been my lucky number so I have huge hope for you.

Always - how things going? Have you had any updates at the doctor yet? How are you feeling?

EOE - hope all is well with babies and pregnancies xxx

Good morning Me2!

So glad that all went well with the triathlon. I completely understand what you mean about being distracted and not dealing with stuff. I almost kind of wish we had something like that going on so that I can just forget about all of this for a while. And I 100% get what you mean about there being no "after this". I'm deathly afraid of that myself. Keep us posted on how the appointment goes with your RE. Do you think you guys will need to see a urologist or will your RE be handling everything in your upcoming process? I guess I just assumed that the RE would do it. Didn't even think that there may be other Doctors involved. I'm looking forward to hearing what your next steps are!

AFM- I don't have too much to report. I finished the Clomid last week and will be going for my day 12 U/S tomorrow. For some reason I just have a feeling that it is not going to be good news. I don't think that my follicles have responded well to the Clomid at all this cycle. Usually I "feel" my ovaries getting bigger while the follies are maturing. This time, I haven't felt anything. I just think this cyst messed up this cycle. I am hoping that at this appointment I can get all of my questions out to the Doc that I couldn't last time because of my disappointment and crying haha. I also want to schedule our IVF discussion with him now so that we can maybe get started next cycle when AF shows (if AF shows). Anyway, I guess I find out tomorrow if it looks like I will have IUI #4 this week or not.

Oh and Me2, I wanted to recommend a book to you that I have been reading and making some life changes to help get myself some better quality eggs. It is called "It Starts With The Egg" by Rebecca Fett. I highly recommend reading it, especially since you guys may be going down the IVF with ICIS route. For me, since I have unexplained infertility, I just can't help but to think that my eggs are bad or something is wrong with them. Any who- just a recommendation if you are interested.

EOE- hope you are doing well.

Hello Staying,

Thanks for the book recommendation - I have already downloaded it to my Kindle :)

For the doctors - everything goes through our specialist at the fertility clinic - he's a gynae though that specializes in fertility so for MFI you need to see a urologist.
The clinic works with specific urologists in cases of MFI (which our doctor says is about 40% of cases.) Because DH has a blockage they will likely need to extract sperm via MESA or TESE (I think.) The urologist said last time that because it seems like there's a normal count in the sac he would suggest getting it out and freezing for what ever is needed. Once we have the sperm we will only really deal with the RE.

So - yes I think that's it if that makes sense :)

Good luck for tomorrow. I really hope you get some good news, great responses and that it all goes well. Keep me updated xx

Me2- glad to hear the triathlon went well! I get what you mean about the triathlon being a distraction. Good luck on these next couple of days with the doctors and next steps. Fingers crossed that it goes quick for you and DH. Will be thinking of you guys. Take a deep breathe and know you can do this.

Staying- glad to hear you are done with the clomid and have a doctors appointment tomorrow. Good luck i hope that the different feeling your having means there are more follicles. I Hope that you are able to get all the questions you want tomorrow and the doctor is responsive. Will be thinking of you tomorrow and keeping my fingers crossed that this is it. You deserve it!

Afm- went to the doctors today it's always reassuring to me to see the heart beat on the screen can't wait till I can hear it. She said everything is looking good so fx it stays that way.

Me2- got it- what you said makes complete sense. I hope the next few weeks go by quickly for you guys as you get the ball rolling. You will do great!

Always- so glad to hear that everything looks good and that you were able to see the heartbeat on the monitor. When do you get to hear it?

AFM- My appointment today went well. My cyst is gone! Yay! I have one follicle on the right measuring at 21 and I have two smaller guys on the left measuring 16 and 14. He wants to give those two some more time to grow, so I will trigger tomorrow night and go in for IUI #4 on Saturday morning. I was able to ask him a bunch of the questions I had- mainly around what are we thinking as far as next steps if this IUI doesn't work. He was really great about talking to us and he said that IVF would be the next step. He said I wish I could tell you why this isn't working- everything looks great on paper, but there is a lot involved with having an IUI be successful, whereas with IVF they are introducing the sperm to the egg. He said usually there is a very good success rate with IVF and my age/our diagnosis. We spoke some more about the retrieval process and all of that and I'm feeling pretty comfortable with it. He said we will talk more on Saturday during the IUI. And if we decide we want to move forward with IVF next then we will start to get the ball rolling. So I guess we will see how the next few weeks go.

Have a great day ladies!

Hi Ladies,

Staying - that's great news about the cyst being gone and the follies. Good luck for tomorrow, seems like everything feels positive.

Always - lovely about the heart beat. Are you thinking of finding out the gender or do you want a suprise?

AFM - I didn't go to the doctor yesterday due to being man down with a terrible AF that is still here. Why are some of them so painful ??? :( He asked me in my ultrasound if I got sore AFs so I must bring it up again because I am wondering why he asked that right now.
Anyway, we are going on Tuesday. DH is finally mentally on board and ready to do this.

That's all the news from me. Have a lovely weekend xxx

Me2- I'm sorry to hear that af as so painful! I hope you are feeling better and had a restful weekend. Glad to hear that DH is on board! Good luck at the appointment tomorrow!

Staying- hope Saturday went well and that your wait goes fast!

Afm- we haven't decided yet if we are going to find out. I kind of think we'll wait and be surprised but we still have to make the final decision.

Hi Ladies,

Always - I think it's fun to keep a surprise if you can last that long :-)

Staying - I hope Saturday went well! How are you feeling?

Me - I finally have news. We went to the doc this morning and it seems we will be proceeding with IVF on my next cycle. Eek, I am so nervous but also excited. DH also might not have to have an operation - which would be great. Our FS has asked for another SA and then he and the urologist will decide by end of next week if it's necessary.

There are so many decisions to be made. So at my clinic you have the option to pre-genetic testing on the little embryos. If you do that they only transfer one normal tested one for my age. If not - you can choose to transfer 2 for my age. The testing sounds good but it's very expensive so we need to decide about that. The rest sounds like it's up to fate really. I am so worried that I have not been healthy enough, and have I done enough etc etc. We will see. It's so scary and DH and I are feeling alot of mixed emotions.

EOE - hope you are all doing well. xxx

Congrats Newly!

I am excited and nervous at the same time. AF is due on the 22nd of July and we start on day 3 with everything. The whole thing takes 16 - 18 days from there to transfer so I will be on holiday in Cyprus wondering if I am pregnant :)

Me2- I am so so excited for you! I have been thinking about that genetic testing as well if we have to go that route. You would then have to do an FET, right? I think it takes them about 10 days to get those genetic results back. I hear you about worrying about not being healthy enough, but just from our talks on here I really don't think you two have anything to worry about in that regard! Very exciting news that your DH may not need to do the surgery. Does this mean you will be able to just do the regular IVF and not IVF with ICIS? Yay for starting this new chapter of your journey!! You guys are going to do great no matter what decision you make. We may end up being IVF buddies.

Such great news about Newly- so glad that her and her baby girl are doing well. I also cannot believe we have been in contact with each other since before she got her BFP. I can't believe how quickly the months have flown by.

Kar- I hope you are feeling well. Almost there!

AFM- IUI#4 happened on Saturday. We had a very nice conversation with the RE after the procedure was done (I honestly couldn't have asked for a better doctor to go through all of this with than with him). He really loves helping couples create their family and it shows in his compassion for us, his bedside manner and how soft spoken he is. Anyway- he asked us if we thought about next steps if it doesn't work this way. He brought up IVF and also brought up injectables with another IUI. With the injectables he said that there would be a huge risk of multiples (and not just 2- 3 or 4). I could probably handle 2, but definitely not 3 or 4!! He said that with IVF it is way more controlled and after the egg retrieval they can freeze any embryos we don't use that cycle for an FET or baby #2. He also said that the FET will be much cheaper than the initial IVF. So we are just going to see how next Saturday (July 9) turns out and if this ends up not working for us we will sit with him again and the finance team to see if IVF is in our cards. Here's hoping that a little love and science help us to reach our goal to expand our family!

Have a great day ladies!!!

Me2- that is such exciting news to have IVF scheduled and to hear that DH may not need surgery! Hopefully the 22nd will be here quick. I agree with staying you sound to be very healthy so try not to worry too much. That's interesting about the genetic testing. You'll have to let us know what you decide. How have you been in the days since the appointment getting ore comfortable or more nervous? That will be nice to go on vacation during it all to be able to relax :)

Staying- glad to hear that Saturday went well and you were able to talk to the doctor and ask questions. That's good to know about the chance of multiples. Hoping that you won't need to worry about the next steps after the 9th. It's nice that the doctor took the time to talk about the freezing and fet as well.

Great news about newly! Hopefully it was an easy delivery.
