NTNP for 7 years, actively TTC for 1 year...

Postby ambernicole8484 » Wed Jul 11, 2012 6:21 pm

DH and I decided to stop BC six months after DD was born in hopes of #2 coming along. That was almost 8 years ago now and I've gotten 1 BFP that I know of after using Soy Iso. That ended in a m/c the day after Valentine's Day. Out of those 8 years we were NTNP for 7 and actively TTC for almost 1 year now. I had no idea so much could be involved with TTC until I found this site, a year ago .

I just got back from spending a week with my cousin in FL who has a 4 month old baby boy. While I really enjoyed my time with them(him), I'm feeling more baby-sick than ever

I know there is no way for you all to know, but what do you think the odds are that there is nothing wrong with me? What are the odds that DH and I just had super bad timing for 7 years? Since I've joined this site I feel like everyone I've gotten to know on here has a BFP already or are starting infertility treatments.

Since I'm just hitting the 1 year mark of actively TTC and I did get a BFP even though it ended in m/c, should I keep trying? Or should I be starting infertility treatments? Our insurance does not cover ANY infertility treatments, but I'm not opposed to trying to get DH to pick up a different insurance or add it to his existing insurance. Bad thing about adding to the insurance we have is that he can't make changes to it until Feb. 2013.

I just don't know what to do? Is NTNP even valid when TTC? When I think about the full 8 years my stomach knots up. Would you say I've been TTC for 8 years or 1 year?

And after a little insurance research, I've discovered it's not so easy to get infertility coverage :( and my state is not one that mandates it.

I can't say whether you have had bad luck or there is something wrong, but I think it would be worth it to see an RE to get checked out. At least you would know if there is a problem and can decided from there if you would pursue fertility treatments.

My state does not mandate feritlity coverage, and my insurance covers *some* fertility treatments. It covered 80% of IUIs, and appointments to the fertility clinic (which it viewed as a specialty doc). But, my insurance covered nothing when it came to IVF. So, I think it depends on what a specific insurance means when they say "fertility coverage". They might mean only IVF, and say they don't cover it.

And you could always call a local RE (reproductive endocrinologist) and get an idea of out of pocket prices.
