Who caught a sticky bean the month after m/c?

Postby CyndiLooWhoo » Sat Aug 09, 2008 9:10 am

I lost a pregnancy earlier this week and as of yet I don't know what to think about waiting or trying right away. I'm so depressed and crying a lot. I don't even want to talk about it with anyone other than my husband.

It was a very early m/c. 4 weeks, 4 days. Even still, the midwives I've spoken with recommended waiting a month. But it just seems like I won't put this behind me until I know that we are trying again. Can I stand this feeling of loss for almost 2 months? Then again, I don't want a second m/c.

Did anyone get pregnant the month after or the second month after a loss?

I did! :)

I also had a m/c at 4 weeks and 4 days. My doctor said it was OK to try again right away if I wanted to... so I did and got my BFP.

I've since read a lot of conflicting information however about whether you should or shouldn't (like m/c makes you more/less likely to get pg, or getting pg on the first cycle makes it more likely to m/c again vs. not any more likely, etc.). I also read that some doctors recommend waiting so you will have time to deal with any emotional issues you might be having as a result of the m/c.

Mine was more or less like a late period because it was so early on, which I'm sure was also a factor in getting the green light from my doctor.

Hope that helps -

I did! I had an early m/c between 4 and 5 weeks in July. I was so upset because I had taken HPTs at home and gotten faint positives and had made a doctor's appointment. I went in thinking I was pregnant, but when he did the u/s, there was no sac. Then, he did a urine test and it came back negative. Mind you, the faint positives were AFTER about a 3 day very light AF. I thought I was just one of those women that would have a period during the first month.

Anyway, after trying unsuccessfully to leave the doctor's office with my composure intact (I started crying when we did the ultrasound and didn't stop until 2 days later), I started logging everything on FF. I had never charted anything before, and it gave me something to do during my tww.

July 23rd or 24th, I O'ed and we caught it! I've had so many more symptoms this time than I did last time....the main one being that I completely missed AF and got blazing positives instead of faint ones. I've been testing every morning since August 1st (my first bfp) and watching them this time to make sure they got progressively darker.

I had researched a lot of sites to see if it was really true that you can get pregnant immediately following a m/c. Most said that if you were emotionally able to handle it, it would be fine to try again. It gave me hope and actually ended up applying to me!

Don't get discouraged hun. It's so easy to give up, but the rewards are well worth it if you keep pushing forward. You'll get your BFP!!

Ginger~ Thank you for posting your story :) I, too, have read lots of conflicting info. But because of the great support I've received from ladies like you, I feel so much better today than I have been and I want to try again this month. Hopefully I'll be as lucky as you were!

Kelli~ Thank you for sharing your story and congratulations on your pregnancy! I was a victim of the faint positive HPTs that didn't get darker. Then when the drs called with a neg. blood test I was floored.
I am feeling a LOT better. Still sad from time to time, but I've decided to be hopeful and TTC this month. It makes me feel proactive about the situation instead of a victim.
Good luck and good health to you!

i had a m/c and had to have a d&c at the end of april this year. i was devastated! i was about ten weeks along according to my last period, but the OB said the ultrasound showed the baby stopped growing at 6 wks. we were devastated to say the least. we waited until a full cycle, as with a d&c it is kinda unpredictable. we caught our eggie on the second month trying!!

it might be kinda morbid, but i used my experience from my first pregnancy to "predict" when we'd ovulate this time. i did a little bit of temp charting and used some notes i took from my first pregnancy to figure when we conceived the last time. we bd'd just a couple of times in my window. it worked!!

try to stay positive and try not to put too much pressure on yourself. i'm still nervous and hoping to have a sticky bean this time.. only time will tell.

i'm sorry for your loss and am sending baby dust your way. there is hope. :)

I had one cycle between my m/c and this BFP. I tried last month but did not use clomid, so this was my first cycle REALLY trying. Seems to be pretty sticky so far.
