Phentermine

Postby msjerra » Mon Oct 26, 2009 11:48 pm

Has anyone taken Phentermine for weight loss? Its also known as Adipex. It is a Rx that your doc gives. But I want to know if anyone has taken it and if it affected your cycle?? I am 2 weeks late and all my tests are BFN...I have sore boobs/nipples, low back aches off and on and uterine achiness.

I have been on and off of it since 2006. It never affected my cycles.

I would like to share my experience with you though. When I was put on it I was only needing to lose 50 lbs and ended up losing 65 lbs in 6 months. I was so happy. My doctor took me off of it and it all came back then some. This has been the cycle everytime I have taken it. I don't eat the healthiest diet all the time but I do use the portion control method and I still gain weight. I have gone on and off phentermine 4 times. I usually lose 15-20 lbs a month on it. I love the stuff and it works great but now being the heaviest I've ever been, I would not go back on it and I would not reccomend it to anyone. I have several friends that have taken it and lost weight and completely changed their lifestyles to try to keep the weight off and still gained all the weight back plus some. After going off of it, I did some research on the net and found several studies that showed a high percent of patients that gained the weight plus some back after stopping phentermine.

Since taking phentermine I have been trying to lose weight the old fashioned way with no success. I had considered going back on phentermine but I know the weight will come back. This is just my experience with it, if it works for you that's awesome!!!

Is it safe to take while ttc??

I have taken phentermine with great success, until i went off of it, and like the pp i put all the weight back on and then some.

I have recently lost about 35lbs using weightwatchers. I have kept it off for a few months and have recently begun to lose more weight ( i still need to lose about 15 lbs).

I will also add that I have become pregnant twice while on phentermine and both were twin pregnancies and both ended in miscarriage. they were accidental pregnancies and i don't know about the correlation between the phentermine and the mc or the twinning but i am never risking it again.

I agree with the warnings listed above. You have to be very stringent with your diet and activity after you've been taken off of the drug. If you don't keep up with it it can easily get away from you.

When I started I weighed 205lbs, I lost 60 lbs and kept it off for about a year until I had my car accident which left me immobile. In 3 months I gained 30 lbs back. I've been yo-yoing ever since. As of this morning I'm 177.2. I'm finding it difficult, even with the pill to get back on a healthy regimine of diet and exercise.

Yes twins do run in the family. My grandmother was a twin, but they were identical twins which isnt genetic (or so I'm told)

I have been on Phentermine for 2 months and am currently on cycle day 80 with no period and all of my pregnancy tests are negative. I went to the doctor a month ago (when I was over a month late) and she did an ultrasound and said the lining of my uterus was very thin and that meant my period wasn’t coming anytime soon. It is as if over night I have no period, no signs of a period coming either. Could this effect my fertility in the future? How long will it take for me to go back to normal after stopping Phentermine?
