anyone else been told they need to loose weight to become pg

i've been told by my doctor and family that i should loose weight and then i will probably become pregnant, well that is a hell of a lot easier said than done, i have a 4 year old son, and when i became pregnant with him in 2005, i wasn't SKINNY but i had lost alot of weight...how?? i have no idea i can't remember because i wasn't TRYING to lose weight i just did...and i think it's because ok i was 16 when i started dating and going out and stuff, i dated and went "clubbing" for a little over a year, when i started going out, i weighed around 200, 220lbs somewhere in the 200lbs ok when i met my husband and baby's daddy i weighed...165llbs! can u believe that now how i lost that weight i have no clue and i know i did lose it but not i've gained it ALLLLL back i now weigh...are you ready for this....211lbs!! i cried when i was weighed...how could i have let myself get this way? you wanna know how....sitting on my FAT @ss!!! sorry and it would be sooooo much easier to lose the weight if i weren't alone...you know i mean i have my husband and my son...but i mean like a friend you know i live in NC and my WHOLE family and friends live in TX, and so all i do is stay at home with our son and go to town every now and again because we live like an hour away from town....and so i can't just jump up and run to town every day you know,....so i've gained the weight back....now i really want to lose it again....because my son is turning four this month and we have been trying for 2 years, and i have tried EVERYTHING but lose weight to become pregnant again....so i was just looking for hopfully a buddy or buddies or just some support....maybe we can help each other out....thanks ladies for letting me vent...hopefuly someone needs and/or wants a buddie just let me know :)

HI Mami ive had the same thing. DH and i have been trying for much over a year and half and this month (if i get my AF) i will be starting OI with injectables. But before my fertility specialist would even consider treatment i had to loose weight. over the last 6 months ive lost over 40 lbs but ive got a lot more to lose. but we are getting there.

it sucks when you know your not getting preg because of the extra weight. and when you know its your fault that your not preg.

loosing the weight has been hard (really hard) but ive worked really hard to take it off and keep it off.
Me - 30

I had HSG no blockages

Well, I know it can be very frustrating... but I have good news. I have read that if you are obese, even a 10% weightloss can help your fertility, and if you are super obese then 20% weightloss can help.

For me I am 307 pounds! I haven't been below 200 since I was 12! My highest was 340. at 340 I was not ovulating regularly, and my periods were crazy. Now at 307.. my ovulation has been better. I'm one of those "born fat" kind of people.. my weight is evenly disbursed throughout my body, and I'm an hourglass/pear cross kind of body which I think allows me to carry more weight than the "apple" types without quite as many negative effects.. for example, what became a problem for me at 300 pounds, becomes a problem for some women at 200 pounds.. but for me if I was 200 pounds, I'd be very very fit. Anyway..

I know it's easy for people to say "just lose weight" Duh, if it was that easy we'd all be skinny! BUT shoot for just 10% of your body weight.. just 22 pounds for you and see what happens...

Best of luck to you!

Hey ladies!!! Just went to the obgyn yesterday and yes I was told that I need to lose weight but she said that's not what's keeping me from getting pg. I am close to 100 lbs overweight!!! She told me that yes I need to lose weight to prevent other health problems. My cycles are regular and my ovulation is normal. I'm lucky because I'm tall, 5'10", and my weight is very evenly spread out. That I am thankful for. I go back on monday to have my hormones checked. I have had unexplainable weight gain over the last year so she's thinking something may be out of wack. I'm hoping everything is in working order or its not to bad to fix.

So I'm in the same boat here trying to lose wieght and ttc and its no fun!!!

Same with me. I'm only 5'2 and definitely not pear-shaped so once I got to 200, I stopped ovulating. That was about 5 months ago and now I'm 220...My doctor said the same thing, "work hard at losing weight and then we'll go from there"...Ive been constantly gaining my whole life so I feel I'll never have kids... :(

hey ladies I thought I would share some inspiration. I am over weight. I was 100 lbs over weight last month. I have struggled with it all my life and still feeling kind of hopeless. well I have other TTC problems as well. I have started seeing a new ob/gyn who says loosing weight will help. I was like "well duh!" and she is currently testing me for PCOS, Endo, and Diabetes. my MIL just started a new diet type thing over six weeks ago and already lost 30 lbs. she still has about 150-200 to go. but she gave me this book and its awesome so far. It is all about weight lose from the inside out. its called the Ultimate Weight Solution. its by Dr. Phil. I used to be anit-Dr. Phil. but now that I am reading it I kinda get it. It really helps for those of us who have been struggling our whole lives. I have already lost 3 lbs reading it for only 3 days lol. I am hoping that once I loose more weight and my results come back we can atleast have a solid lead on what direction to go with this whole baby making thing! Good Luck to you all Godbless, and baby dust! hoping between weight loss and new doc I will atleast be able to ovulate next cycle!

I have lost 52 lbs in the last 5 months on Weight Watchers. For those of you who need portion control and want to eat WHAT YOU WANT and not be on a "diet", the WW will work for you. It is my life now...I can finally say I feel better than I have in over 5 years! I really hope that when my hubby returns home from deployment that we will finally get our blessing. Good Luck on the weight loss ladies!!

I use this website to track my eating and it has really helped! It really is amazing when you start tracking calories to find out how many calories you are actually eating. It also tracks activity. It was a real eye opener for me. I weighed 200lbs when I got pg with my son and now I almost down to that (202). It is free which is great. I have also done weight watchers and that worked well also. It was a little to expensive over time for me though. Good luck! Don't lose hope!
