P90X?

Postby socialite_baby » Sun Mar 21, 2010 12:59 pm

DH just ordered P90X and is anxious to try it... He wants me to do it with him, but looking at some of the women's results kind of freaks me out. Some of them look a little manly (muscle wise) to me. I'm also kind of worried it might be a little too intense while TTC.

I was just wondering if anyone has tried it? Did you like it? I don't really feel like I need to lose too much weight... I'm at about 140 and I'm 5'6-5'7 so my BMI is healthy. I could stand to tone up though! Any advice is appreciated! :D

My business partner and her husband do this, and LOVE it. It looks and sounds fantastic. She just modifies her routine to not be as intense or using so much weight. She loves it and she is starting to ttc soon as well.
I would say from her motivation each time she does it, and instant results I would do it too, Im actually thinking of trying it as well soon. It sounds amazing!
Have fun with it! let me know how it goes!

My guess is that you won't bulk up as much as those women. They probably pick the ones for the infomercials that do get really bulked up. But most women just don't bulk up like that.

I haven't done P90X, but I do work out pretty hard (although maybe not as strict as P90X is) but all I've gotten is toned never bulked like that. I'm 5'4" and at my lowest weight I was 120 lbs, working out twice a day 6 days a week.

So my point is that I think you have to have a certain body type to really bulk up like that and most women don't have it. As for it being too strenuous for TTC, I wouldn't worry about it. I did a LOT of research about exercise and TTC (and pregnancy) when we first started trying and all I've come up with is that it's good for you. Plus, being a long-time TTC-er , I'm sure you know that sometimes it's not worth it to put your life on hold for 2 weeks every month sucks and in the long run, you'll be happier that you got yourself looking better - especially since summer/bathing suit season is coming up.

Good luck and let me know how it goes! I'm intrigued by P90X and I always wondered if it was worth the money.

DH did P90x and I was AMAZED at his results....however, if you read up on it, it clearly states that this workout is NOT for beginners (unless you modify it of course). I've tried it and found it too intense for my liking, but I have a low tolerance for that kind of thing so your results could be different. GL!

I have read such good things about this but also that it is just so hard. I know I am way to out of shape to do it. I am trying couch to 5k.

Julie it is hard! Did I get that right, your trying to get to 5k is that running, walking, jogging... ?? I cant run, jog at all.. I am a idol fan of anyone who can do that, it kills me.. my lungs, breath, mind everything hurts.. so if 5k is your thing, I think that is pretty amazing personally!

haha I know I will never get to the 5k part but my goal is to get my 2 miles down to army spec using the couch to 5k program. That is the only part of the PT test I can't pass. (DH is an army vet)

I can stand around and jog for a while if I have a tv in front of me to watch or someone to talk to. I just can't sit around and run by myself.

DH bought it a while ago and hasn't tried it out yet lol.
He's still doing regular P90, and will eventually get to P90X :)
It looks like a great workout though. Hopefully one day I'll be able to do it myself :) That's not gonna be for a while though lol.

I tried P90X twice and thought it was too hard and I'm not that coordinated so I gave up. :(

Hey socialite :)

I've heard a lot of good things about the program. I've heard that a nice way to ease into it is trying some less intense (but still great for ya) programs like Turbo Jam and 30-Day Shred. Though I'm so out of shape those two kick my butt so I'm not even dreaming of P90X right now :p lol

Good luck with whatever you decide though :D
