Jogging Bad While TTC?

Postby nancys13 » Wed Jun 02, 2010 3:18 am

Weird question, but is jogging a bad idea while you are TTC? I'm especially concerned about the time around conception and implantation. I guess I'm just thinking maybe it would either make the sperm have a hard time swimming up to the egg or it might jiggle the implanting emby so much that it couldn't grab on. Is that a legitimate concern or am I worrying too much? I've been doing so good with jogging 3x per week than I hate to give it up, but, at the same time, I don't want to reduce my chances of getting pregnant, you know?

I asked my doctor the same question with my first and she said it was fine to continue whatever exercise I was doing before as after getting preg. :D
I had a teacher who jogged all the way up till like the last month of pregnancy! That looked a little difficult but she was an avid runner before and after and I'll tell you she didn't gain much weight being preg..lol Hope this helps

OH I should prob say I was running and got pregnant with my first child..I don't think It gets in the way of conceiving. I mean its not like right after sex you are out there running...?? right!? So you have time to let the sperm get going in your body and doing their job... and they know their job! ;) I wouldn't worry about it.. :D

If you are 100% and have no health or fertility issues then by all means continue running.. I just asked me RE about this the other day because i go to the gym 5x a week! and he said since I do have complications that he prefers I be really boring the first 14 weeks. reduce workout to maybe 2-3x a week and very low impact, however after the first trimester the more you can do the better! your body heals so much faster when you are fit / active!
I have a long history of ttc & miscarriage. many tears have been shed, however today, I'm celebrating new life and only thinking about today as we welcome baby #4
