Jen, do you do WW on line or show up for meetings. I tried about 10 years ago & I remember it being really expensive but I haven't checked into it in years. I've been thinking about the South Beach but everything seems like so much extra work.

I go to the meetings to keep me on plan. But you can do the program online. Not sure of the cost with the on line portion, but the meetings are 10.00 a week if you do auto billing.

The core plan is almost like the south beach. Low fat protein, veggies, no bread, limited pasta, potatoes and rice. Of course lots of water.

You know, the basics....

GL with whichever you choose. 8)

Hi Ladies ~

I would like to join you all. I've been debating on losing weight while TTC but never thought it could be done. I'm currently at 208 and would like to get down to 180. I have PCOS, so I know losing just 10 lbs could help. I'm taking baby steps, in changing my eating habits and trying to exercise some more. I would love to hear any advice or tips you may have about losing weight while TTC.

I don't have a real plan yet but almonds are helping. They promote good cholesterol and help with blood sugar. You might want to check them out.

Eating small meals is supposed to help. My DH and mom are using hoodia. I don't know about using while ttc though.

There haven't been any posts in a long time but I'm still interested. What is your plan?

Stephie: Hi! Thanks for your reply! I actually just starting getting back in the gym recently. My biggest focus so far has been to do cardio regularly (at least 3 to 4x a week).... But I do want to start doing some strength training to tone and build some muscles which I have heard will definitely help once pg..... I spoke with a trainer about this before and she said that as long as you start doing some strength training before becoming pg, you can continue doing some light training once pg which will help with the weight gain. I would definitely be "very light" if any weights at all once I got pg, that's why I feel the "rush" to do something now! Also, I've heard that weight lose can help conception????

Not sure how to approach the "diet" / eating part of the whole plan though. I know Atkins / Low Carbs definitely work for me with getting the pounds off, but it is hard to commit to and I'm not sure if that's the best nutrition plan when ttc!

What about you... What are your plans? How much would you like to lose? Are you currently ttc? Sorry for all the questions.. Just curious on how others are handling the situation!

Menyonne, I don't know about the Atkins for ttc. Low carb diets are good for women with PCOS. as long as you eat plenty of vegetables and take vitamins it is probably OK. My sister, dad, & best friend have all tried it but I could never get past the 3rd day because it makes me so sick. I've never heard anyone else complain. Don't know why I had such a hard time.

I'm 5'5.5 & weigh 165 so I need to lose about 20-30 lbs. I haven't been able to get under 148 in the lst 10 years. If I could just get back to that I'd be thrilled. 148 is at the higher end of the healthy range for me. Losing would probably help me conceive. It's just so hard to keep at it.

I go to a gym that is sort of like curves. It's not enough just to do the circuit but with some extra cardio it works pretty good. I haven't been motivated since June though. That's my big problem now.

I am ttc. My DH is trying not ttc so it's a bit of challenged  I'm 37 so the clock is ticking. If you learn any good tips or anything that helps you stay motivated at the gym let me know. Or recipes for that matter.

Hi Stephie!

Sorry for the delay... I have been soooo busy with lots of company coming in and out in the last couple of weeks.

I would LOVE to lose 20 pounds, but don't think that will happen! I could possibly be content with getting 10 off if I can! I am 5' 4.5" and weigh about 155. My main concern is the weight gain associated with pregnancy and not wanting to get too heavy!

Unfortunately I don't know any good "diet" recipes... I know carbs are my big problem, so my plan is to try to limit them and focus more on lean meats and veggies as much as I can.

I saw that you mentioned that DH is not completely on board with ttc... I know that can be tricky! Do you just chart when you are o'ing and try to BD? My DH is more than ready for a baby, but thinks it will happen "naturally" and doesn't want to know want to keep up with O dates and having to BD on command..... So I am now doing the temping and charting and just trying to conveniently be in the mood when it's time to BD! Boy, the thing we go through to ttc!

Did you check out the other thread that was mentioned in the pp?

Hi. I don't think I did. I don't chart anymore. The temping was making me kind of obsessively nuts. I can narrow O down with OPKs & cm now. If you keep track maybe that will be enough. Naturally works for some people but planning helps.

So far I haven't lost any weight & I think I may have gained. Sigh. I might try the South Beach on line and see if it gets me anywhere.

Hi ladies,

I haven't posted here in forever, so I thought I'd stop by and say hello!
My weight got stumped at 139 for like the past month, so I didn't have anything to update :x It's my own fault though, cuz I've been eating like crap... lots of takeout lately... my DH work schedule is so funky, I'd have to cook like 4 times a day, just to get the three of us fed healthy meals, and I am soooo not a cook anyway (my DH cooks... I try, but am limited to a few recipes LOL I can bake like crazy, but THAT really helps when you're trying to diet  ).... So default: takeout.

Poor DH... he was losing weight so good, and I had been cooking him chicken and vegatables to take to work, but every night they order food out there, and so he's been eating that lately, and told me "I guess I'll start my diet back after startup (the reason they have a crazy schedule right now)".

My SIL and I supposed to start working out together, so hopefully we can keep each other motivated, and get some weight lost!

139 sounds like a dream! If only . . . . I know what you mean about the takeout. A good diet requires planning & I'm not planning far enough ahead.
Exercise always helps--I have to get more of that to.

LOL I know, I hate griping about weighing 139, but when my "ideal" weight up until I started birth control/college (bad combo lol) was 115 (I'm barely 5'3", and that's if I'm stretching heehee)... then I got up close to 170 before I got pregnant with my daughter, so 139 is much better than that, I must admit :) I just wish I could get back down to my comfort zone... plus, I'm one of these ppl that gains all my weight in my hips/butt/legs, so I'm all tiny on top (except my boobs which are still a D since pregnant) but then it's like 'BA-BAM!!" LOL

I just want to be proportional more than anything, but thats DEFINITELY gonna take exercise (and the kind I hate the most: SQUATS!)

I always thought I was fat--even at 135--little did I know. Exercise is the key. I need to be out doing it everyday but it's so hard to stay motivated. we should all make a plan & report so we have a little accountability. It's been so hot I don't want to do much of anything. I haven't eaten anything yet so I haven't screwed up yet today :) I'm going to plan out some meals this afternoon. I f I plan better then I won't fall into the trap of getting desperately hungry & eating whatever I can get my hands on.

Enjoy your day!
