Hi Everyone. Sorry I've been MIA. I've been sick, AF was kicking my butt and on top of that I had sooooooooooooooo much work to do at work this week. I'm so glad it's the weekend!
I did get a chance to weigh myself. I am 172 as of this morning. That means I lost 2 lbs this week!!!
I'm going to go catch up on everyone now.
We'll talk soon!!!

I appreciate not posting my weight cause it is scary!!!! I have never weighed this much in my life!!!! Oh well it happens- on to next week. Maybe AF will be gone by Monday and I can start over and really kick butt!!!! I really appreciate all the support and with our group supporting each other so well I know we will get this weight off!!!!

Sorry I've been MIA for the last week! It's been such a hard week at work and I still have to work tomorrow (Sat.). I also have to type a three-page research paper for my accounting class by Monday!
AGH!! Well, I didn't have time to read over all the past posts, but I wanted to check in and let you ladies know that I weighed 255 today. WOOT WOOT! Hope y'all have a great weekend!

I am so prod of everyone! My goal weight is 155 for now, then I take it another 5 lbs. I have mostly just changed my eating habits, adding more friets and veggies, and added a dance class 1 to 2x a week. That's it. I'm sure if I worked out more, it would come off faster. Keep it up!

A little about me:
I'm Emily (27) and I'm 5'3". I have put on 28 pounds since I got married in Jan 06. DH and I have been TTC since Mar 07 and I decided that my weight could be part of the problem - plus I was sick of none of my clothes fitting any more and don't want to waste more money buying new ones (again!!! - about 3 years ago I lost 55lbs!). So last week I started a new diet and in 1 week have lost 2lbs - even with having chocolate cake and fries on Friday for MILs birthday.

MPWife - I also have knee problems. I've had 3 surgeries and my surgeon has told me if I have to go back it will be a complete reconstruction so I'm doing my best to avoid that. My advice is - try swimming. It's great for me because I love swimming and its very low-impact. I also tried deep water running and aqua aerobics and neither of those hurt my knees at all. Plus its a heaps better work out than walking - although I do that too. I've also recently taken up golf (its more fun than it sounds and is a pretty good workout) and I find that exercising with a gym ball (or swiss ball, not sure what they are called in the US) is good too. I've pretty much found ways to adapt most exercises to suit me (except the obvious like lunges and running!). And if you do require surgery (and probably even if you don't) you'll probably need physiotherapy and the physios are great for helping you find exercises that you can do.
For those of you who hate exercising during AF - I once read that if you get really bad (painful) AFs exercise can actually help!

Ok, I know I am a dork, but dodgeball is soooo fun!!
I ate horribly yesterday and today for lunch, I need some encouragement!! I did not work out yesterday and I have not yet worked out today AHHHHH!! What is wrong with me? And my competition starts in 4 days! There are now 6 people that are going to compete! Yay!!
ArmyWife - I think that my problem is that I always have to have a few drinks at night. I have changed to just drinking red wine, but I am still drinking eat least 3 nights a week. OMG-that is horrible!!
Oh here is a pic of my puppy. This is a long time ago, he weighs about 11 pounds now. He is a shih tzu and the 2nd love of my life!

Heather - I think you'd like the diet I'm on ..... you're allowed to have 2 glasses of wine per week - and that's on the lowest level! You can have more if you're on a higher level!!!!

It's called the Total Well Being diet and its from the CSIRO (the government scientific research agency in Australia) although it has also been marketed overseas. Basically its high protein, moderate carb. There are 4 different levels of the diet based on your age, height, gender and activity level. So the first thing you do is work out how much energy you use each day (they have formula to work it out) and in order to lose weight you have to have about 2000kj less than you expend. I'm female, fairly short (5'3) and have low activity level (I have a desk job) so I'm on level 1 of the diet. My energy expenditure per day is roughly 6900KJ and level 1 has you eating 5500KJ. The think I like about it is its structured in that it tells you how much you have to eat per day but you can choose your own food and you can choose when you eat it. So for example dinner = 200g lean meat protein + 2 cups of vegetables. BUT if I prefer not to have a big meal at night I can have that meal at lunch time and have the smaller lunch time serving for dinner. Plus you are allowed to have luxury foods (2 glasses wine/per week or equivalent) and you are allowed to eat out (it gives you tips on ordering from menus).
As I mentioned earlier I went on a diet about 3 years ago and lost alot of weight, but it wasn't sustainable - I basically lived on Chicken and salad for about 6 months and I was diagnosed with gall stones so I couldn't have ANY fat. Then once I got to my goal weight and had my gall bladder removed and could have fat again I just started putting the weight back on. So what I wanted this time was more of a lifestyle change that I could maintain. I don't think there's any point in starving myself for a few months and going to the gym every day if I can't keep it up (especially once I have (hopefully) have kids and don't have the time to do it anymore. So while I exercise now - I do it when I have the time and because I enjoy it not because I feel like I have to. So far I've been doing this for a week, I rarely feel hungry (but when I do I can snack on fruit or yoghurt), I can choose which foods I eat (which is good because I'm fussy) and I feel great - I have energy and I feel happy and I'm not as tired and grumpy. Plus even though I only exercised about 3 days last week, was naughty a couple of times and went over my choclate allowance, went out to dinner for MILs b'day on Friday night and had steak and chips with no salad or vegetables AND chocolate cake I still lost 900g (almost 2lbs)! I'm looking forward to this week and behaving myself!

Heather-Awwww!I am in love with your puppy! I put my puppy pic in my siggie just for you, and I see you returned the favor!! Eating horribly one day wont hurt you too bad, we have until Friday for weigh in!! Eat better today, and do an extra 30 minutes working out. I am going to try really hard today as well, and you just think about me sitting on your shoulder saying 'Heather! Be good!"'

Bren-I LOVE pilates. I think its wonderful for you in so many ways...Just the focus on breathing and the cleansing that happens is awesome. Working out this weekend? Is the pilates a dvd, or a class?

Emily, that diet sounds pretty awesome and the cool part about it is that I can combine the blood type with it. Since I get to choose what ever food I want, then I will just choose foods on the blood type diet. Where can I get more info?
I officially ate/drank over 5000 calories yesterday!!! And it was way too easy to do! We ended up going downtown last night and although we had a blast, I am just ashamed.
I use fitday.com to count my calories, it is a free online program that calculates your daily food calories that you consume and the calories you lose daily through exercise and lifestyle. It is a really cool site, you should check it out.
Emily, you are from New Zealand, right? How often do you visit Australia? Or do you? I went to high school in Sydney, so it would be fun to talk about life on that side of the world!

Yes I am in New Zealand, but I am an Aussie so all my family is still over there. We go back once every 2 years or so.
And I wouldn't worry too much about 1 bad day. I discovered last week how easy it is to get excess calories. I think you're allowed to have a blowout every now and again. Maybe you could do some extra exercise today to make up for it a little bit if you feel really bad.
