I have been ttc for 9 months now. I am about 30 lbs overweight. give or take a little. I have been doing really good for like 3 weeks now but have only lost 5- 8 lbs. I just bought the south beach diet book. I will just type word for word a very interesting part!

"Many of the dieters who came to us through the TV news coverage have been in their twenties and thirties. One young woman, 30 lbs overweight, had been trying to conceive for 7 years. She tried the diet, lost the weight in just a few months, and then discovered she was pregnant. Though we were willing to take credit for this pleasant turn of events, it wasn't until about a year later that I discovered why the diet had allowed her to conceive. There is a condition called polycystic ovary syndrome that is a common cause of abnormal periods and infertility in young women. It turns out that it is due to insulin resistence or prediabetes. By reversing this syndrome with the diet, her periods normalized and a successful pregnancy followed."

I have never been diagnosed with pcos but something is definitely wrong or not working right. I thought this was interesting and it brought tears to my eyes!!

bc, that is so awesome! and what encouargment and hope that gives you!!! Girl my SIL, and MIL, both have done that diet, and if you "stick to it" that first 2 weeks, you will loose an incredible amount, like 10 lbs, so try it!
And another thing, my mil is now doing no carb diet, and has lost ALOT !! Like 20lbs.

Those type of diets just arent for me. I dont really cook alot, and the recipes seem hard, but im so happy you found it, and i really hope it works for you!!!

Excersize, and let us know how it goes for you!!

Hello Heather!

Well, today I didn't eat very well and that is usually my problem.

Ok....my story...

It took me eight years to conceive my son. Each month I would be so upset that I wasn't pregnant that I would eat. I gained weight slowly and was 137 lbs (big for me) when I conceived my son. I gained 50 pounds while pregnant (not a good idea) and then lost it (yeah!). Nursing really helped me to lose weight! Then...I went back to work and lost more work but when I quit, being so upset, I ate. So....at a whopping 146 lbs, it is time to do something about it.

I started walking about 2 miles outside with my son each day. I can join a gym but I thought I would enjoy the nice weather now that spring is upon us. I must clean up my eating.

It is hard to exercise at home due to the baby but I have to try harder. I have lots of workout DVD's which are mostly Firm workouts and some walking workouts. I have an exercise bike that I just have to pull out from behind some boxes and can use that too.

What kind of exercise are you doing? I am talking my walk tomorrow and promise to eat much better!

Hey Christie!

I know how you feel!! Right now, im at 141!! that is alot to me, i have always been (since after high school) 120-130.. and now im 141!
I am just not happy with my self! And im really scared to get pregnant and gain MORE weight!! :(

That is really great that you and your son go for 2 miles!! Im glad that works for you! I live in Louisiana and it is too hot for all that. lol!!

Oh, and yesterday, i did the exact same as you! I pretty much had cookie dough for supper!! LOL! im bad.

Im going to try to just cut sweets, because i cant controll myself when i do have them. Today, im having a nutrigrain bar, left overs from copelands , and then i dont know what for supper. Hopefully i will cook!

Your son is really cute!!

Good luck today!! Try to resist the temptations!! lol!!

BC, have you started south beach yet?? Let us know how it works!! GL!

Hello Feather~!

I was about 115 or so when I was at my ideal weight when I was first married. I exercised every day and watched what I ate. Now it is just so hard! I just did a 25 minute stretch tape called AM and PM stretch. I bought it at www.collagevideo.com. They have great workouts. It wasn't easy with the baby throwing his toys at me and grabbing my feet, but I did it. We will walk again later after lunch but hopefully it isn't too cool.

Is there an indoor track where you can walk or a mall? Can you walk during your lunch hour?

I will post more later.

Hey girls!

How is it going!?

Well i excersized last night! i didnt want to , but after i did i felt good.

ok i was so aggervated yesterday! I normally weigh about 140 or so, well i woke up yesterday and weighed 143!! WHAT! i was so mad.
This morning it was back down to 141, but grr. :x

so anyway i am just hoping for results faster than they can come.

anyway well just wanted to check in and see how it was going!

One more thing...
Dieting, i already have said that i am horrible at that. Its hard because i dont cook much, and i dont usually keep alot of fresh veggies around, because they go bad fast.

so how can i diet... with out dieting?? lol!

Hi gals,
I recently lost 20lbs....still have more to go and don't weigh as little as the two of you! One thing that someone told me is first....only weigh once a week!! If you work out you will gain some weight from lactic acid that builds up in the muscles. Don't let that frustrate you!
