Lookin for a buddy I guess.. Starting to get depressed :/

Postby AshnBarry » Tue Nov 16, 2010 3:58 pm

We have been ttc for 9 months now... I haven't had a period since June. I have been to my gyno NUMEROUS times. He told me all of my blood work was normal, my uterus is fine, my ovaries are fine, and everything is good. I just don't ovulate. He said it is because I was on BC for so long and it hasn't fully gotten out of my system yet. He said give it a little bit more time and call him when I start my period. He also told me that the levels in my brain were fine too except the one that makes me start my period or something. He just said to give it a little bit more time and he thinks things will be fine. I am getting sooooo depressed about all of this. I guess I need to buy some opt's... Does anyone know of a website with some cheap but GOOD, reliable ones that I could buy? Any advice would be nice, or a buddy that I could talk to, and share stories with. I feel like I am going at this alone. My boyfriend just says "give it time" and I am tired of hearing that, I know it's true but I wish he was as worried about it as I am. Everyone around me is pg.. People I went to school with, child good friends, family members, even enemies and I just wonder when it will be my turn.... Ugh. I guess that is enough blabbing. I just needed to vent and get that out I guess.

Hi there, I am on here occasionally... But didn't want to read and run... :)

I know how you feel... We've been at it for 17 months... I don't ovulate without the help of drugs...

You may want to try another OB because sometimes PCOS levels are okay, but you still have PCOS... Do some reading into it. :) Also, I would be sarcastic at your doc by saying, "well where'd you get your practicing license? out of a crack jack box? The last time I heard, YOU HAD TO HAVE AN EGG TO GET PREGNANT, and if I don't ovulate what am I going to do? buy the egg in the grocery store?" I almost said that to the post doctors here, and they finally gave me a referral off post to a civilian doc. :) Some times you have to try and be agressive with them, or they'll pass right over you. :)

Good luck and feel free to PM me if you need to chat or have questions! :)

Hi there,

I had a similat thing but they have now decided I have PCOS not PCO as I have no cysts on my ovaries.

I was put on Metformin and after 2-3 months I o'd on CD16 instead of CD 168, I did get my BFP but unfortunatley had a loss at 10 weeks 2 days.

I know how frustrated you feel at your body for not doing the one thing that should come most naturally but try not to get to worked up as stress can prevent ovulation too.

I agree with PP I would be looking at another doctor if I was you, I am not sure what the rules are there but in the UK they dont test you or anything until you have been TTC for 12 months minimum.

I just buy my OPT's off eBay and have never had any trouble with them :D (touch wood!)

Best of luck, you have come to the right site everyone is LOVEL here xx

I'd start trying herbal supplements or see a naturopath. You could try Fertilaid, or Vitex (that would help the pituitary gland in your brain), or Maca. Read up on them and see which you feel is best for you. My recommendation since you haven't gotten your period is to try vitex. I've seen many people on boards get their period to start a couple of weeks after starting vitex. Also make sure you're taking a good multi-vitamin and also take fish oil. If vitex doesn't do anything for your cycle after 2 or 3 months then I'd find a new gyno who will listen to you. For OPKs I order mine off of Early Pregnancy Tests. You can also get Fertilaid on there and shipping is free.

Hi, I definitely understand the frustration and sadness of waiting. I had problems for seven years. There would be months that I wouldn't start my af. My doctors couldn't find out the problem. I had in my mind I would never be able to have a baby. Well, I ended up getting pregnant. My obgyn did a t3 and t4 test plus tsh and found out I had hypothyroidism. Well, anyway it took going to a doctor. They ruled out pcos and all those things so I was stumped as to what was wrong. After my daughter I thought that I was happy because I had my daughter and thought it would take 7 more years. Well my first daughter didn't happen until 25, my 2nd 26 and am 28 (will be 29 in August). We're trying for our 3rd and final child.

The thing that always irritated me is when people said when it's your time it's your time, or you have no idea what it's like until you have one of your own. To make matters worse, my younger sister had her baby when she was still a senior in high school (I think she was 19) and we were still trying. They just couldn't seem to understand the anguish I felt when they said things like that. Don't get me wrong, I was happy for them, but there was always a part of me that asked why it couldn't be me. Anyway, I hope things happen for you soon.

I'm not a doctor, but you might ask if they have tested you in that area as well. Did the doctor give you any meds to jump start O? Definitely consider a second opinion. I didn't look at the date this was posted so hope it's not an old post. Anyway, baby dust to you.

Hi. I agree with the PP that it would be a good idea to see another doctor. There is obviously something going on if you are not ovulating. They should help you get that fixed in some way, whether it's meds or something else. have you had an ultrasound to look at your ovaries?

GL to you!

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you girls. I decided to give the site a rest because it was making me a little depressed. I had an ultrasound, vaginal ultrasound, blood work, and a check up. NOTHING was wrong. Everything was normal. No cyst's or anything. I did start my period NORMALLY out of the blue on December 6th and it ended on the 10th. I haven't had a period since than nor any signs or symptoms or starting OR being PG. My DR told me to make anothe appt in March if nothing has changed, So I guess thats what I will be doing. I'm scared to get a second opinion because I am so young. We don't feel like this DR is taking us seriously about TTC, So why would any other DR... I'm kinda stuck on what to do, except take matters into my own hands by reading up on stuff and getting advice from all the girls on here. I currently am starting fish oil and Folic Acid. I am going to be getting some Vitex this weekend... Also going to be starting a few other things, or should I say experimenting. So, if anyone has any ideas, advice, or just wants to talk, please let me know. I will get back to you very quickly I am on here all the time now! Thanks for listening.

I completley recommend charting (fertilityfriend.com is one of the more common ones)..this is sooo helpful when your cycle isnt cosistent, it really gives you some backup for when you go back to the doctor...because you can say, here is how long my cycle is, and here is where my O is showing. This would tell you if you maybe have an LP defect, or if you arent Oing till CD25 or later (which can deteriorate egg quality- yes, you can still get preggo w ith long cycles, its just that for some people it can cause TTC issues).

I buy the Clearblue DIGI OPKs off of Ebay (smiley face ones), usually $20 for 20 of them, which lasts me 3 cycles...i think these are the eaisest to use.

good luck!

*raises hand* It took us over a year to find a doctor who would help us. It is tru though it can take up to a year to get bc out of your system. I hope you get a period soon!
