Postby TTCwPCOS1809 » Sat Jan 08, 2011 11:10 am

I havent tried a lot of things. different positions and my doctor put me on Metformin. I cant afford a fertility clinic so I am waiting patiently for the meds to work. I guess im just looking for a buddy to talk to about it all.

TTC #1

Postby TTCwPCOS1809 » Wed Jan 19, 2011 6:51 am

Well, I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2008. I havent really tried much as far as fertility treatments go. Mainly because my insurance doesnt cover anything infertility. And I dont have the finances to go to an RE.

In early 2009 DH & I decided to TTC #1.

I have always had crazy irregular cycles. I barely get AF. So I never know what is going on so it is kind of pointless to try and chart everything. But we kept POAS. And all we got were BFN!!

In October of 2010 my GYN put me on Metformin up to 4 pills a day, I got AF two weeks after. Havent had AF since! I am trying to find an OB/GYN because someone told me that they can prescribe me Clomid to see if that will work. My GYN wont give me anything but Metformin and he said if that doesnt work in the next 6 months than he will have to send me to a specialist. I cant afford a specialist lol.

So until I find the right OB for me, it's just try, try, try.
I want to try the FERTILAID pill from fairhaven health. But I havent ordered it yet. So now we are just depending on the Metformin to do something.

What about you? What is your story??

:hi: ladies

I've also been TTC #1 with PCOS since 2009. Unfortunately, I've not had the best luck so I could definitely use some support when DH and I decide to start trying again. Here's my story so far...

My cycles sound a lot like yours TTCwPCOS1809. I only get AF about 2-3 times per year. I was off birth control for about 7 months one time and we decided to NTNP but I never got AF! After that, I went back on birth control for a while until after our wedding, buying a new house, and starting a new job. After things were settled down, we decided to start seriously trying in July 2009. I got a referral to an RE immediately b/c of my weird cycles and suspicions of PCOS. They did an u/s and sure enough, I had over 30 cysts on each ovary and was told that I probably hadn't ovulated in a very long time and that the TTC process could potentially be challenging.

I wasn't too discouraged at first b/c I had heard how well some women respond to Clomid and couldn't wait to try the first month on it. Well, didn't ovulate. My RE upped the dose...nothing happened. Finally, they think I ovulated on 150mg, but I had weird side effects so they had to stop it and switched me to Femara at the highest dose they use. Again, nothing happened so they talked about injectables the next month.

My signature kind of tells the story about my three rounds of injectables. Basically, the first round they tried femara and follistim. When I went for a follicle tracking u/s, nothing was growing so they added repronex for a few days. I went back and still nothing, so my RE said he was "baffled" and cancelled my cycle for no response. The nurse told me that you never know what could happen so we kept BDing and sure enough I O'd very late and got pregnant. Unfortunately, that pregnancy ended at 8w3d.

We did a 2nd cycle of femara and repronex then added a trigger of ovidrel b/c we finally got a response and had two follicles. That cycle ended with a mc at 5 weeks. I was pretty discouraged after this cycle, but gave injectables another chance. My RE at this point had been telling me that IVF probably wasn't an option b/c of my poor responses to high doses of meds. Well 3rd cycle I got an excellent response and actually ended up pregnant with triplets.

I just lost the triplets January 7th due to a placental abruption and severe hemorrhage that followed and almost took my life as well. DH and I are taking a break for a little bit, but I've experienced quite a bit and don't mind answering questions. Hopefully, you will both have an easier time than I have.
