Perimenopause at 31?!?

Postby lovebabytime » Sat Apr 02, 2011 6:26 pm

I need your thoughts ladies! I turned 31 in Jan, my periods started to change a bit last year, doc said they do that when you reach your "thirties". Well i have googled some of my symptoms and it sounds a bit like perimenopause?!? I have been having hot flashes before and during AF. AF lets me know about a week before she comes (cramps, etc) then this last time she was 3 days late AND I only had 1 day of medium flow, the next was light. And today spotting. Along with horrible hot flashes. I have ALWAYS been 25 day cycles, and bleed for at least 4 days. I have one daughter, and I wanted at least one more. =( What are your ladies thoughts??? I pray we can conceive and carry a baby to term.

Girl, I'm sure you are not perimenopausal! :) I feel like my cycle and PMS symptoms have been changing since I turned 28 (I'm 33 now). It turned out that my estrogen level started jumping up and down causing growth of uterine polyps :?
I would ask your doctor to run tests for hormonal levels.

Good luck! :luck:

I have one piece of advice for you -- STOP GOOGLING NOW! I'm sorry but I have to give you a hard time because I did the exact same thing less than a year ago. My periods started getting weird and I became worried because we wanted to have another baby... just like you. Yep, sure enough, I became CONVINCED that I was perimenopausal. I was DEVASTATED! But just to be safe, I made an appointment with my OB. She did an internal exam and a u/s. Everything was perfectly fine. And my periods started getting back to normal after a few months. I seriously doubt that you are perimenopausal. If you are really worried, go see your doctor. But I vowed to myself that I would never again ask the internet about my symptoms. No good can come from it! Good luck to you and of course, baby dust!

I know this reply is extremely late but I just read it. A couple of months ago I had some really weird cycles (shorter than usual, more spotting, then longer, but not as heavy). I was very weirded out, convinced I had some kind of hormonal imbalance, and went to my doc who said "In all the years I have been an OBGYN I've never known a patient whose cycle stayed extactly the same for her whole life." I was freaked out but soon enough things settled in to a new "normal."

Lol, I just went through the whole perimenopausal scare. After being 7 days late for AF and no bfp plus getting some hot flashes I was convinced I had entered early menopause! Well AF showed and yes, google is bad for causing unneeded grief with symptoms. I have to say though if it does happen again I will ask the doc to run some tests and check hormone levels to make sure all is well. They check your FSH levels around day 3 of your cycle and they can tell if there is any menopause going on. Although early menopause does happen it's very RARE and chances are we are simply going through some normal cycle changes. I hate it though..it makes me feel old :P
