Kez: So sorry. Your attitude is amazing. Please keep being the way you are.

Babatte, Hang, and Kez: I just hate that this month was a bust for y'all. Well at least there are snow babies! On to the next cycle.

Kez I am so sorry about your results. I was really holding out hope for you. So do you now move onto a FET. Is that why you can do it natural or with drugs?? I did mine natural but used the drugs to support my lining just before and after transfer. It is a cakewalk in comparison.

I am actually enjoying my break from the drugs and crazy more drives. LO is still sick but is getting better. He is getting up a couple times a night and decided that 5:30 would be a great time to start the day this morning!! My work year is coming to an end (1.5 months) until I am off for 2 months. I am almost tempted to wait and start my cycle then but some of me wants to just keep coming so that I don't keep wondering whether it will happen or not. It would be nice to know either way before I return to work.

kez - I really wasnt expecting BFN for either you or Babatte this cycle. I am sorry it did not work out but agree your attitude is amazing.(:

zohbeee - OMG! Just dawned on me how close you are to delivery. How exciting! Are you all prepared?

AFM - Step son will be here this weekend. Very nervous how this will turn out but regardless he is still coming here so might as well try to make the best of it. DH has given green light for more IUIs so hopefully I will be able to start this in a month or two. This cycle is going to be a bust because DH is going to Texas to pick up step son on day I am due to ovulate. Tommorow morning he will leave and I should be ovulating the day after.

kez - :( crap. i am sorry. :hugs:

kierann - BD anyway! There is no bust that I see ;) Sperm can live for 5 days !! I say go for it, but thats must me :D

Hang - when kez was talking sxs, the FIRST thing I though of was YOU in the hardware store. :) that was a LOOOOONG time ago! whew. I would start your cycle now, it just gives you more time to run into your 2m off, which may be good timing to relax and be pg!

motox - I was just looking at my calendar and it looks like I am covered because I was actually due to ovulate today. He left this morning so we got BD sessions in yesterday and today. Now, that is if I did even ovulate at normal time. I did not do OPK this time because I was going to wait until 6 months to do it. So, next cycle I will start getting really serious and looking into doing IUI.

Babatte - I am so glad your mom is doing better. Do you get a long okay with your siblings? I know you have a brother but could not remember if you had others. I just went to see my aunt who has cervical cancer but also just had a stroke. Her kids can't stand each other and two of them got in a fight at the nurses station. It had to be broken up and it was so embarrasing because this is a floor I worked on for two years. One of my cousins is a meth addict. She looked awful today. Really sad but this is the bunch my aunt has to watch out for her. Your mom is really blessed to have you.

Hang - I hope your LO is getting better as well. I bet you are looking forward to your time off. (:

AFM - DH off to Texas this morning to get step son. Oh how I dread this but what can I do? DH bought a video camera a while back and I even thought of trying to hide it somehow in the house to capture how he is with me. This way DH can see how different he is with me and what he puts me through. I don't think that would work but lets you know where my mind is with all this. I am terrified he is going to accuse me of abuse because he has accused everybody else of it. He even tried getting staff fired at the other facility he was at accusing them of stuff. I am afraid it would affect my parenting Bristol.

kierann I really wish you didn't have to go through all of this with stepson. What about a nanny cam??? It is sad that you have to worrying about false accusations. You should be concentrating on your LOL not worrying about these issues. I really hope there is a solution to all of this for you.

Thanks LO is feeling much better and had his first day of full daycare. He cried of course and only slept for a half hour and barely ate. I feel so bad but for now there isn't much we can do. DH's parents are in Florida until the end of the month and then have agreed to watch him for 3 days a week.

I emailed the online doctor again for advice. This was his answer. I will definitely be informed at my next meeting with RE.. I am actually very paranoid to use Cetrotide as I haven't had success yet with it and have had 2 terrible cycles with it. AGGHHHHHHH- this whole thing is driving me crazy.

If you are going to use Lupron, then you have to start from CD21 of the preceding cycle. It is called the "long protocol". I would not recommend it in you.

I use the antagonist protocol almost exclusively in my practice. The problem that I see from what you told me is that you started the Cetrotide too early. If you do that, you suppress the follicle growth and get what you saw. The antagonist (Cetrotide or Ganerelix) should only be started when the follicles have reached 16-17 mms. The rule of thumb is that at least 30% of the follicles should be this size. I will sometimes wait until the lead follicle is 18mms if the other follicles are not sufficient enough size. With that, I do see an estradiol drop so I don't pay attention to it much any more. I think it is showing a decrease in activity of the smaller follicles that have been stunted. Using the antagonist is where the art of medicine comes into play because there are no hard and fast rules. It is very dependent on the experience and judgement of your doctor.

As I mentioned previously, if you were my patient, I would use the antagonist Cetrotride, not Lupron, and use the highest protocol of 450IU Follistim and 150IU Menopur continuously (no adjustments).

Good Luck,

just popping in! be back later!

Hang- I kinda felt the same way about your RE using the long protocol on you. It seems that the antagonist protocol really worked for me. My new Re only uses forms of the antagonist protocol for women over 30. I wasn't on that high of dose of follistim or menopur. In fact less dosage of stims were used on the antagonist protocols than with the lupron ones. Lupron just seems to oversurpress me. the antagonist protocol does require more monitoring appts. Once your follies start growing, you may have to have monitoring every day. At least the weather is better for your driving now.
Update us and let us know how your appt goes this week.

Babette thanks for your input. Could you tell me your exact protocol with amounts. I really want to go armed this time. Do you remember home large your follicles were when you took Cetrotide?

hang- trying to remember. This time my antagonist protocol was an "estrogen priming" one.

The day of my last bcp I put on a estrogen patch.
1patch everyother day for 4 days.
The day following my last pill I took an injection of ganirelix and also the next day also.
( this supposingly jump starts the system)
After the last estrogen patch, I left it on until it fell off or removed it right before trigger.

okay that's the different part.

I started stims on cycle day 3.

150 menopur
250 follistim

once I had a few follies around 14 ( i think I had about 3 at that point) the ganirelix injection was added and I was monitored every day at that point.
I think I was on ganirelix for about 5 days, including the one day I triggered.

Now here a breakdown of my regular antagonist cycle.

BCP
Stims on day 3 on
ganirelix on day 8 til trigger
I think my stim dosage was much lower.

The estrogent priming protocol is the one that gave me the most eggs. I ened up with 18 being retrieved and 15 fertilized.

my most successful cycle as far as eggs retrieved and fertilized was actually called "schoyer protocol".
think i spelled it right.

Babette thanks for detailed response. I am so confused with all of these protocols. I met with RE and mentioned about the last cycle not counting as a cycle because it was a bust. Basically I will have to pay $1200 for the u/s and b/w because it was cancelled which is BS because an IUI with more u/s and b/w then I did is $500. They haven't heard the end of this one. I am going to go on my merry way into the next cycle and not even mention the $1200- I am sure they will forget. Anyways, He put me on something for my AF to arrive which turns out now to be 10 days of BCP. That seems strange to me. I guess I am doing Lupron again but diluted and less maybe and I will be taking Puregon twice a day which is what I took when I had Maddox. So confusing all of this!!! When are you planning your FET??

Hang- sounds like you're going to be on microdose lupron? I did that for my last bfp cycles. My FET is possibly on June 30th.
I start lupron and the patches this week.

AFM- It's just a few days to my bros wedding. Per the wedding website, the reception will be a surprise and announced at the end of the wedding service.
In fact, the is no cash, or no venue for the reception. This is going to be interesting. Dh joked that we should give him a card saying that his wedding gift is the 2 years of room and board that he never paid. My older sister is a cake decorater and offered to create the cake if they purchased the boxes and the acessories for a 3 tier cake. My brother told just her he was out of money. My sister has been on leave from her job in Michigan to help with my mother. She's been on FMLA and doesn't have much money coming in but she feesl pressure to complete the cake. big sis has contributed more to my mothers household in just a few weeks than my bro has in 2 years.
Gotta run her to the bakery supply store this afternoon. He's gotten all the money he's going to get from us.
Plus he and fiance have registered at honeyfund.com for a $7000 honeymoon, plus $10,000 in cash for their new life together.
Think I'm going to just sit back and watch this crazy sht!

On the much lighter side, I think I will be doing a 5k walk for the Ronald Mcdonald house nearby.

Seriously, that is just disgusting. Pretty good entertainment though!

I used to work at an RMH in Oklahoma. GREAT very necessary place. Have fun on your walk!

Babette I have never heard of that ever!!! Donating money for a honeymoon online?? Is this something new or having I been living under an igloo up here in Canada?? I think he called it Microdose Flare

Motox good to hear from you. Are you gearing up for FET also?? I really wish I was gearing up for that instead of a fresh cycle!!

So we were out house hunting today for something I can't really afford but I am tempted to put in an offer on a house that I am hoping to get for a steal because of all of the work that would need to be done. It is in a great neighbourhood with a great school but the only owner died at 93 and didn't do anything since she moved in 20 years ago. This is really what I am looking for but the timing isn't optimal. I am really considered just making an offer (DH is a realtor so it would be easy) and if I get it - I get it- if not oh well I just wait. It is the wondering if I will be off for a year for maternity leave that is stopping me. It has plenty of room for guests (4 bedroom) so all of you are invited to come up once it has been redone- not in the winter of course!! DH's parents are back from their 1 month holiday in Florida and wanted to continue to look after LO 3 days a week so no more daycare for him until September. He had been there 8 days in total over 3 weeks and is now on his second illness. Poor guy!!
