Retroverted Uterus... Anyone?

Postby Birdie01 » Wed Jul 20, 2011 12:25 am

Hi Ladies,

I just found out the other day that i have a retroverted uterus, now I have been told that it doesn't affect pregnancy or falling pregnant - can anyone here confirm that? :)

Also, does anyone know the best position to DTD around O time when you have an upside down utuerus?

Looking forward to hearing from you! :jump:

Hey Birdie! :hi:

I have been told by different DR's that I also have a "tipped" uterus. One lady who was a PA said "It's no wonder you haven't concieved, you're uterus is WAAAAY back there". I asked my GYN about that and she said it's crap, that it should not affect whether or not you can concieve. She said that once you do conieve that your uterus fixes itself to normal anyway. Supposedly if there are issues with infertility there are possible other problems like endometriosis, or PID. I do however have very painful periods and I've been told this could be a reason.

Take a look at these sites if you haven't already, maybe you can get some good info. :) I'm sure you'll find tons if you google search.

Hi Tryin4baby,

Thanks for your reply - it takes a while on this forum to get anywhere, but it is nice to know we are not alone. :)

How long ago did you get told about your tipped uterus? I am glad that it doesn't affect conceiving, and i have also read that it corrects itself within about week 11/12 of pregnancy anyway.

When i had the pelvic scan, they should have picked up any endometriosis right? I always thought i might have that because i have such painful periods too - but wasnt told about it during the scan so i think i'm in the clear for that.

I am still in the middle of all my tests, but recently have been told i have an under active thyroid as well - so hopefully getting some meds for that should sort things out. Just a quick question about your hypthyroidism, once you started taking the meds, do you think you noticed any weight change, either putting on or taking off? I just wondered because i have put on a lot of weight recently without trying, and hoped i guess that it would all drop off again. :?

Thanks so much for the websites about the uterus, i will definitely have a browse. :D

I just wanted to add to what everyone else has already stated. I have a retroflexed uterus! Basically my uterus sits straight up and down, it's turned up more than retroverted. I just found this out last week and my RE said that it would not affect my ability to get pregnant. I also asked about the best position and he said just be sure you get deep penetration and stay together "as long as socially acceptable" haha, whatever that means. I asked him if I should lay on my side, stomach, or back after we BD and he told me that it doesn't matter! Good Luck!

Oh wow! thanks for the replies ladies! You have all put my concerns at ease! :D

I also read that the behind entry was better for retro uterus's so i decided this cycle we will be trying the bat technique!

Good luck to you all - and thanks for sharing! :jump:
