37 + TTC #1 Part 62

Postby kierann » Thu Jun 28, 2012 3:20 pm

kierann - I thought we needed to start a new fresh post.

YiYi - I was not sure if you had mentioned this before but does anyone in your family have a history of breast cancer? I know it occurs mostly in people who dont have a family history but just curious if you did and if you knew what course of treatment they went through. I am so sorry and it sucks to hear about some inflammed lymph nodes. But I was thinking considering your immune system is lower now would it not be normal to have some enlarged nodes? I have only been pulled to work the oncology floor a couple of times so forgive me but I am quite ignorant about breast cancer treatment. I do know that everybody I personally know who has been diagnosed with it has gone through treatment successfully and are just fine now.

Babatte - You have clearly done your mother proud. I am not sure all the circumstances you are dealing with right now but what you said reminded me of my father. He has a bunch of sisters and brothers but he was appointed executer of my grandmothers will. He was appointed I am sure because unlike everyone else who moved off he bought the property next to her and was always the one helping her. Well, when my grandmother got sick the rest of his brothers and sisters became vultures and mean. My dad is passive and does not like conflict but he got in more than a few verbal sparring matches with some of them. Two of my aunts were caught trying to get my grandmother to sign some stuff while in the hospital. One of the nurses saw it and was concerned and notified my Dad. My dad handled everything just like my grandmother wanted him too and once everything was said and done eventually their relationships were repaired. I also remember when I watched someone die in ICU with family at the bedside. We were standing by in case a decision was made to try to revive him. As God is my witness, right after he died the brothers and sisters got in a literal boxing match right over his dead body. One reason I wanted to have another child is so my daughterl would have someone to go through our end of life care. But there is certainly no guarantee another sibling would be comforting.

AFM - Not much going on right now. We are going to Disney world in a week. Honestly shouldnt spend the money on it however decided we would likely always being saying that so just went what the hell why not now. Still TTC but not nearly having that desparate TTC feeling I have had in the past. I doubt I will seek any fertility treatment either. I hope everyone else is doing okay.

Kierann[b] thanks for new thread. How are things going? How is stepson situation? I am glad you are still TTC.

Babette how are you doing? You should be close now?

Motox any ideas about when you will be doing FET. I believe you originally said this summer.

So it is 17 days until due date and 18 days until C section. My dr gave me the choice but said that if I was delivering naturally I can't go past my due date and I can't be induced. In my mind if I make it to my due date I really don't have a choice. Last scan was at 5.5 weeks left. She weighed 5 lbs 11 oz so I think I may have another 9 pounder on my hands. Room isn't ready yet. Today is the last day LO is in school and I have only had three days off. I am sure it will all come together.

We are torn between names right now but Kennedy is taking the lead

Kierann-have a great time at Disney World! sometimes a break is needed to recharge the soul.

Hang- I have been stalking and looking for you. I love the name Kennedy. Sounds like shell be a big one too. I was trying to get my nursery together too. SO much to do. Wasn't sure when you were due. Are you having fun buying for a girl? I haven't had much time for fun.

AFM- My c-sec is sched for Aug 2nd at 38 weeks but my wellness nurse said most twin pregnancies don't get past 38 weeks. Roman is in the right position but Asha goes from breech to transverse to breech. Ptobably a c-sec. I'm monitored every week and they are overachievers and doing well. My next growth scan is next week. Hope they are getting big, I'll be 35 weeks at that time. Did my maternity photo shoot, hope to post some on my blog once I get the disc. No health issues for me, no GD, and no pre-e, however my legs are horribly swollen and i have awful carpal tunnel. I'm proud to show that us AMA (advanced maternal age)girls can do it.

Kez I saw your blog about doing your own injections. The first time around with LO I didn't do one needle. This time around I had to do all of them because of timing, work schedule and LO. I had no choice but to suck it up. It actually became easy after a while. Keep us posted on your follicles, I would love to hear your progress. This last cycle TTC with my second baby my results were awful.

Hi Girls!

Hang - WOW, you are so close!!! Riley was almost a Kennedy, but we have one in our group of friends. I pray everything goes very smooth :) I bet you are having fun shopping...girl clothes are so much cuter!

kez - how are you feeling?

babette - getting close! i think swelling is pretty par for the course with twin pregnancies? glad everyone in there is doing good :)

yiyi - how are you doing? check in when you can :hb:

:hi: kierann how was Disney? you are brave! I think we need to wait at least a year or more before taking R. Glad you are feeling ok about TTC.

AFM - DH is finally working after being out of work for 6m. It has been a long, hard, stressful road, but things are looking up. I just went through another flare of my ulcerative colitis. After phy therapy, my pain level has been doing pretty good. I feel pretty good most of the time, but it is all a balancing act :) I am hoping the UC stays under control and maybe we can do FET at the beginning of the year? I just have to be able to stay in good health and then try to figure out the finances. I feel like it is really far away, but truth be told, we need to get this going before I am much older. I dont worry about age so much, but age with my health issues AND having a newborn (or two). Pretty unsure about twins all things considered. I think I was much more open to them for my first, but now, just stresses me out I guess. Lots of decisions to make between now and then, so we'll just see how it goes.

OMG first of all congrats on the healthy twins. Please keep us updated on your progress. I have never heard of a uterus not contracting. So what does that mean that you lost your uterus. I hope they figure out what is happening to you. I am very concerned for you. Update us with the birth weights and names ( I can't remember if you mentioned them)

I am still hanging in there. The heat is awful and I caught a stomach virus

Congratulations Babatte!!!! And OMG! I have heard of uterine atony before but do not know anyone it has happened to. I would guess it was from the uterus stretching from the twin pregnancy. It would seem to me it would be rare to get as extreme as needimg to remove the uterus. I am so glad everyone is okay now. Are you going to post pics? By the way, I saw your belly picks and I think you had the best belly pics I have ever seen.

I'm in a bit of a hurry but I'm going to post what I have on my blog. If you like you can click on the link and I have pictures and the same story on my blog until I can catch up.

The Quick Rundown...The Birth Story
Sorry this has to be quick today but I was anxious to get this blog out.

Monday July 16,2012, I woke up for my usual 530am pee break, did my business, crawled back into bed, positioned my pillow and passed gas. It was a relieving fart, should have known it felt too good.

Having your water break feels just like that. I felt as if a balloon inside of me filled with water had just gone sploosh.

I sat up immediately and told my husband that my water had broken and to get ready. I remember him saying this was it.

Just the day before we had finished one of my belly casts and had my teenage nephew over to help with the small things we wanted to get done before that week so we could try to enjoy the rest of the pregnancy. The babies had other plans.

Husband went to the guest bedroom to tell my nephew that my water has broken and we were leaving. Turns out he didn't hear one word Husband was saying.

By 620am, we were at the ER at our hospital and by 700am I was in a gown lying in 'labor and delivery'.

I wasn't contracting and I wasn't dilated. Never will know why my water broke but I begin to think that things might not have gone so well, in a matter of speaking, if I had gone into full labor on my own.

854am Roman was born via c-sec 4lbs 15
855am Asha 4lbs3

Both screaming and breathing on their own. I told my husband to stay with the babies. To follow them wherever they took them.

I think that was when I realized things were starting to go wrong.
As the nurses brought each baby over to me and pressed them to my cheek, I heard the Dr. yell out that I needed blood to one of the nurses and my blood type. Th anesthesiologist spoke to me and told me I would be going to sleep. I remember the Dr. telling me that if they couldn't get my uterus to contract and the bleeding to stop they would have to take my uterus. The rest is a blur and I woke up in recovery with Husband telling me that I was snoring.

I had a hysterectomy to save my life. According to the doctor, I had lost over 3 liters of my blood and my uterus failed to contract. Later a doctor told me it may have been due to how one of my placentas had attached. I still had my ovaries and everything else. No hormones to be replaced just no period because i had no uterus.

I'll update you all once i have my followup appt.

Kinda a hard recovery for me but the babies never went to the NICU. They spent whatever time I was able to take care of them with me. Asha had a day of phototherapy for jaundice and both babies were put on a higher calorie formula.

I came home on Friday July 20th and the babies followed me home the next day.
It's unbelievable that they let babies that Small come home if everything else is fine. Both babies scored 9's when born.

It's still a bit difficult for me to get around but my legs are much better and the swelling in my body has gone down. Pumping and building up milk supplies for the babies.
