37 & TTC #1...Anyone Else?

Postby StephW » Tue Oct 23, 2012 7:20 am

I'm 37, my hubby and I have been trying for a year. I'm on Clomid (this was my third round) & currently in my TWW, AGAIN. AF is supposed to be arriving this weekend, haven't taken a HPT cause I'm so discouraged of always getting a BFN every month. Ugh! Who's with me???

YES! I'm a newbie here, 35 and TTC #1 with an older husband (45). He's given us 1 year to ttc, and we're 7 months in. I'm going nuts every TTW. This last cycle my period came 1 week late (never does that). I was so excited I took three pregnancy tests over the course of the week, and then it came. On Saturday. About an hour before my good friend's "reveal party", which made celebrating her growing pregnant belly and sex of the baby (boy) a little more difficult.

Every month, getting AF is harder and harder.

What is Clomid like? I heard it dries up CM and I already have a problem with that...

Good baby vibes to you, and we'll both try to keep our spirits up even when it's tough, right?

Good Morning,
I am so with you on the BFN and ttc. I am 36 and DH is 32. We have been trying a little over 2 years. We have been through it all Clomid, Femara, IUI's and IVF all to get BFN every time. We still have 1 embie in the freezer but at this point I don't know what I want to do.I know sometime next year we will go through the FET. The only thing I have to show for this rocky road is lots of weight gain and now high blood pressure from all the meds. So been put on new meds to control the BP and hopefully I can loose this weight.

I am due for my period in a week and want more than anything to have BFP but I know deep down that won't happen. I just a month not to go through another BFN and heart break. Praying for you all and would love to have a BFP this month for us all.
Me 36 DH 32 TCC Aug 2010-Oct 2011 4 IUI's all BFN. Ivf Journey Sept 21 cx due to very high e2 levels 10/27:( IVF #2 ER1/28/12 antagonist protocol transfer 2/3 9 eggs retrived and 4 fertilized! BFN 2/14--devasted IVF #3 April 20th 7 eggs retrive 6 fertilized Transfer April 25th 2 Grade 4aa embies 1 frozen
Beta #1 May 7 BFN, met with dr and have been told unexplained fertility, PCOS and endo. Not having much hope:(

SarahTee,

I'm sad to hear that your husband has only given you a year to conceive, that puts a lot of extra pressure on you I'm sure! You're certainly young enough to continue trying for more than a year, I hope he can see that.
The BFN and AF month after month definitely gets harder and harder, especially when you're doing everything that you can. It takes it toll, very devastating.
Clomid is ok, makes me extra emotional, like a need something else to make me cry! Ugh! We're hoping its the answer for us though. However, today is CD 28 for me, BFN this morning :*-(. Onto round 4...
Dealing with other people's baby joys is no easy task, I hear ya.
We just have to keep the faith and know our day will come too. Best of luck & lots of baby dust to you!!!

KimK,

My goodness, what a journey you have been on. I'm SO sorry that you haven't gotten your BFP yet being all that you have gone through, I can only imagine your frustration/pain. It's SO hard to stay positive every month only to be crushed in the end. Yet, every month I tell myself this is it, this is the month, and try to fill myself with good and positive energy. When being a mom is something we all want so badly, we do whatever it takes, that in no way makes it easy.
I truly hope this is the month for you, I got a BFN this morning :*-(.
If its not, know that I'm here to listen and support.
Best of luck and Lots of baby dust to you!!!
Keep me posted!

Sorry about your bfn. Life is so unfair at times. We would all be awesome mommies if we could get a chance. I am tired of this journey and would do anything to have it go right. I am so sorry anyone has to experience this pain but does help having u here to talk with. I pray tomorow you will get your BFP.

StephW - so sorry about your disappointing bfn. I completely sympathize... it can be so difficult and discouraging to go through this month after month. Keep your hopes up! You know, the baby you might have conceived this month is very different from the baby you may conceive next month. Not sure if you're spiritually inclinded, but maybe this is Someone's way of making sure the right baby is born. You are going to make an amazing mom when this does work out and all this difficulty will make the pregnancy and birth that much more special.

Thanks for sharing your personal experience on Clomid... we're just heading into the process of visiting a fertility doc and I have no idea what to expect.

Keep the faith, for sure. Best of luck and baby dust to you too!

KimK - praying for your experience as well - what a tough road you've been on. I have a girlfriend who went through something similar though, and they now have a beautiful 2 year old that causes them all sorts of headache. :) The BFP shows up when you least expect it - try to keep thinking positive. I know its hard though!

I'm 38, will be 39 in January. TTC #1 for 16 months but not super intense.. missed a few fertile windows here and there because of poor timing.

OLD eggs :(

Could have perfect timing, taking lots of vitamins, trying to eat clean and not stress.... but the fact is that even though I ovulate, that egg may not be healthy enough to be fertilized by a sperm, or if it does, may not have cell division, or it may not implant, or if it ever implanted, may not stick..... I am finding this all to be very depressing :(

My BF and I have decided to try not to obsess about it and think, if it's meant to be, it will be. I really can't control what will happen. BD'ing like mad just increases the pressure and makes the disappointment worse month after month.

Me: 39 multinodular goitre, completed 3 cycles of heavy metal detox, HSG Sept 20/12 - R tube open, L was slightly blocked, cleared during procedure, exploratory lap Feb 25/13 found mild endo (2 spots) removed and tubes flushed.
DH: 40 (healthy SA!)
TTC #1 since June 2011
Clomid cycle #1 100 mg CD3-7 April 2013 = BFN
Clomid cycle #2 100 mg CD3-7 May 2013 = didn't BD during fertile window = BFN
June 2013 - 2 years TTC. I give up. No more Clomid, no more temping, no more OPKs. Distraught :(

I'll be 37 in January. I'm taking a break from TTC for a couple months while loading my body with all these supplements that may or may not help my poor egg quality. Then there's the acupuncture. Apparently kidney health (yin/yang) dominates fertility. My acupuncturist determined I have low kidney energy which could be the source of my problem. So we are focusing on getting my kidneys back to normal. But hey, I feel better, less depressed and stressed, more energy. And I've read a lot of good things so here's to hoping!!!!! Best of luck ladies!
Me 39; DH 41; TTC #1 since June 2011
Sept 2012: Diagnosed w/ POF/DOR FSH 20, AMH .1
Jan 2013: CD 3 FSH 5.8, AMH .34
Feb & April 2013: medicated IUI's failed
IUI #3 6/24/13; 3 follies; BFP 7/5/13! 14 DPO Beta 406 /16 DPO Beta 968
MC 12w3d 9/5/13
IUI #4 11/15/13; 4 follies; BFN
2/16/14: Start IVF Microdose Flare; converted to IUI #5 due to 1 dominant follicle; BFN
4/12/14: Start IVF Antagonist Protocol with Estrogen Priming; converted to IUI #6 due to dominant follie; BFN
June 2014: IVF Antagonist with Estrogen Priming, ER 2 eggs retrieved, both fertilized with ICSI;
3 day ET 2 grade A embies; BFN
3/15: IVF embryo banking with Dr Sher 1 snow baby so far
5/15: Second banking cycle with Dr Sher

Ravyndancer,
Sending you lots of baby dust! I know it's all very frustrating & depressing! It's great to have a forum like this to share our stories with other women who truly get it! Keep the faith and keep me posted! Hope you get your BFP very soon! :-)

Mandy429,
Please let me know how things continue to go for you with acupuncture. I've been interested on getting more information about it, and have heard positive things. I'm on Clomid, but my doctor said it would be fine if I wanted to do it. I hope it works for you! Best of luck! :-)

Here we go again...finished my 4th round of Clomid this month, and I'm currently ovulating. One thing I will say about the Clomid so far is that it has totally regulated me, the last few months: :-) day 14, AF day 31.
Praying to St. Gerard, using preseed, staying in bed after BD'ing, etc...I even found a handmade Peruvian fertility statue at a friends house sale and bought it!!!
Like every month, I am in good spirits, feeling positive and wishing/hoping/praying that this is the month! I try to stay as positive and hopeful as I can every month (after I've picked myself up from the puddle of tears from yet another BFN) and can only hope that will make a difference on possibly conceiving.
I hope you're all doing well, touch base with me to let me know how you are! Wishing all of us a BFP!!! Lots of baby dust to everyone! :-)
