In desperate need of encouragment

Postby hbeagle » Thu Dec 27, 2012 1:23 am

My name is Heather and my Husband is Chuck, The short story is that we have been trying for 2 years and absolutely NOTHING has happened. He has gotten checked out and I was poke, prodded, asleep with l lovely lap :| They found minimal endo and put us on the "unexplained" category.
I am 38 and will be 39 next year...I cry when I think about how much or how little time I have left. We can't afford the IVF procedures, so I was hoping sone one had other suggesstions that might work?

We did the trigger in the past, timed intercouse and nada...

we' used an ovulation kit once, but again, i din't think that worked...I'm so incredibly sad and would really love to hear some encouraging words or success stories. This is so depressing... :x

Hi Heather! I can tell that this feels so stressful for you. I'm not much of an expert but I do want to send you way more encouragement than I can express by typing! :) I can tell you are stressed and frustrated. I would definitely recommend reading through the posts. Some women ask and give tips on different meds, suplements and alternatives that can help jumpstart you and your DH to a more positive path. As an example, I've heard that acupuncture can help. I've seen a few posts mentioning it and I've even had a personal friend who tried it and had success! And acupuncture is a small price to pay vs. IVF.

There are also products like preseed and other CAM treatments available. Acupuncture or other CAM methods could in fact be covered by your issuance with or without a co-pay, like a chiropractic type rehab treatment.

Saying a prayer for you! Don't give up! :D

Thank you Sugarchik (cool name! :)
I have been reading alot on the boards about preseed....was definitely a skeptic, but we're trying that for the next couple of cycles and then see how that goes.
Many thanks for your prayers and as of now, there is no giving up! :)
I'll keep everyone posted!

Hi Heather
I was where you are a few years ago. aged late 30's, no baby. If you look at the 37+ TTC #1 group you will see a group of about 7 ladies who were all in your boat. all but one have either had babies or are pregnant. Some went IVF or IUI, some were lucky enough to go naturally.

for myself, we TTC for almost 7 years. I was eventually diagnosed with blocked fallopian tubes and we had no choice but to go IVF. Im currently 27 weeks along and now aged 41. It feels like youre at the end of the line when youget to 38/39, but you probably still have a few years of fertility left.

if you truly can't afford to try IVF then there are a few things to try

supplements- CoQ10, royal jelly. spirulina, maca root, fish oil. I used all these to boost my egg quality

accupuncture- i did this for over a year to get my body into baby making mode

chinese herbs- please only work with a qualified chinese doctor/herbalist

naturopath- again, use someone qualified

see a fertility doctor/ there is more to it than just IVF and many things to try. there are also a lot of fertility places that offer free IVF and places that do trials. Search online to find them. Don't give up, you still have time

Heather-

I have taken Clomid 3 times (4 if you count this cycle- but I am still in tww). Of the three times, I got BFP twice and each time I took Robitussin during my five most fertile days to help loosen the CM. The time I didn't get BFP, I didn't take the Robitussin. I am not saying that the Robitussin is why, but I thought the suggestion might help. The type you use is the kind that only has the Guaifenesin in it only and nothing else. I think it probably does the same thing as preseed, so maybe look into that before you try it.

I know you feel powerless, but I have a good feeling for you and your husband. I think your BFP is coming!

Hi heather!

I feel exactly the same. We are almost at the two year mark with 'unexplained' infertility. Our next stop is IUI (we've tried ovulation Meds, progesterone, fertil aid for men and women, soft cups, preseed, ovulation tests but no joy). But we came across this:
http://www.naprotechnology.com/ and are thinking of giving this a try. I met a couple who got pregnant after trying this approach after years of no luck. I will say a prayer for you, please say one for me. X

heather, don't give up.
My husband and i have been trying for a while and just recently went to the fertility specialist. we are currently doing the exploratory cycle with all the different testing. But my family doctor said this to me "you need a vacation, go away, relax, i bet you'll come back pregnant" lol. maybe there is truth to that? next cycle, maybe plan a little get away during your fertile time. a weekend away from stress and worry, and maybe that'll be your time.
I will send some positive thoughts your way. I truly hope you get your BFP soon. I believe you will. Also i want to mention that 36 years ago my mother was told that she could never have children. She was devastated. A month after the doctor gave her that news, she was pregnant with my sister, she had two more girls after that.

its frustrating when it seems so easy for everyone else, but when it happens for you it will be so wonderful.
