Fertility Check Up

Postby SOS89 » Wed Mar 01, 2017 12:18 am

Hello,

I am new here :)

My husband and I are trying for a baby. This will be our first baby.

We tried having sex during ovulation but to no avail. I am the eldest at home and I have got no one to turn to.
Don't wish to let my friends know I am TTC too, I scared it will add stress to myself and my hub.

My husband suggest we do a fertility check. He will be doing blood test and sperm count test.

As for me, I got no idea what check up should I go for, which gynae etc.
What are the checks you girls do? Any gynae to recommend me please? :) Your reply is much appreciated :)

Hello, I can't help with gynae recommendations, sorry. We simply picked a good IVF clinic and made the appointment. During the initial consultation me and DH were recommended basic and additional tests we should do to find out more.
Me 31, DH 40. TTC 5 years. Unexplained infertility.
December 2015- IVF #1 BFN
May/June 2016- new doctor, IVF consultation in Gdansk Poland
October 2016- IVF #2 Invicta BFP!!!
July 2017 - our daughter M arrived, we are so happy

We've been trying for right at a year now, so we just started fertility testing this week. DH did a SA on Monday and I am going in today for a pelvic ultrasound. We are very young, so we aren't being too aggressive yet with tests, especially since I do not have any infertility insurance coverage. I think I may have endometriosis, so a laparoscopic surgery may be in my near future. Good luk with your tests and TTC!
Me & DH - 08/14/2016
TTC #1 since July 2016
DX-Me: Septum In Uterus and Endo - laparoscopy in 11/17
DX-DH: Azoospermia (0 sperm count in 2 SAs)
DH started Clomid in 08/17 - sperm found in 11/2017!! (800,000 per cc)
IVF planned for January 2018!

I am using my normal gynecologist because my insurance does not cover a fertility specialist. Check with your health insurance and online reviews to see if you can find a good fertility specialist.

I've gotten bloodwork, ultrasounds (to check for cysts), and a hysteryosalpingogram (HSG)- It looks at the inside of the uterus and fallopian tubes and the area around them. To check if the problem is not a blockage in your fallopian tubes.
My husband got a sperm analysis.

It's a good decision to opt for fertility check-ups. You'll have a clearer idea of what's wrong. I would suggest you guys opt for a fertility clinic. Doctors are reliable options, too. But, it's so hard to find a good doctor. Someone who connects with you, and understands what you're trying to say. I've had better luck with fertility clinics. It's also probably because I suffer from PCOS. That makes it harder for me to get treated by a normal gynae doctor. I would suggest you guys also give a fertility clinic a try. I can tell you about one if you want! Good luck on the tests, either way. Lots of baby dust and love for you! It will all be fine. No need to worry, okay?

If you want the best results then visiting a specialist is really important. They will do your tests and provide you with a comprehensive report. However, if you have just been trying for a few months they might not do the tests. Most of the doctors do the tests after a person has tried for a year. Good luck to you. Make sure to visit someone with a high success rate. Sending baby dust your way. Do keep us updated.
-Low AMH and High FSH
-Poor Ovarian Reserve
-5 IUIs (failed)
-1 IVF (failed)
Life is a total mess
