OPK Question: Anyone else noticing this?

Postby RubyRed10 » Wed Feb 08, 2017 6:48 pm

I've been using cheapie OPKs, specifically Easy@Home. The directions say to use room temp urine, dip for 3 sec, and read after 3-5 minutes. But most of the time, in still waiting for the dye to settle in the control line at like 5-7 min! I usually end up with an actual result around 7-10 minutes. Anyone else noticing this?

Yes, my test lines aren't really fully developed after 5 minutes, so I don't read them until closer to 7 or 10. That's I don't think they do evap lines or anything like a HCG test can. I've looked at ones that are several days old and they don't get any darker, just turn purple, but you can easily tell if the test strip was lighter/darker than the control.

Yep, I wait a good 10 minutes before reading mine!

I spoke too soon about it taking 7-10 minutes to see a clear result. I just took this test and it instantly turned positive as the urine went across the strip. So maybe the others that I thought were positive weren't really positive?

My standard positives (test and control line equal) still take a few minutes. Strong positives like this, the test line shows up before the control!
