Risk assessment, antibiotic, birth control

Postby KTBrown » Sat Mar 15, 2014 4:48 pm

I'm hoping someone can put my mind at ease. Found out my antibiotic could in fact effect birth control: dr said it would be fine. So I told husband no worries leave sperm in, cause I'm at end of my birth control pack. just checked myself and I have Ewcm like I'm just now ovulating. Crap!!!! Had baby in October 2013 so my cycles aren't normal and this is my first month on birth control. Spell it out for me am I at risk for conception? The pill is junel and the antibiotic is amoxicillin and I only skipped few days two weeks ago.

Your doctor is an idiot! Amoxicillin can absolutely make the pill not work....in fact my friend had an oops baby from an affair that way

However at only five months post pardum you aren't likely to be very fertile though there's still a chance

Good luck
BFP on Friday Feb 3rd 2017 but ended in miscarriage at 7 1/2 weeks :(

Didn't chart this time, last time was TTC for over a year, BFP chart from daughter :D :

yes antibiotics has an effect on birth control anytime taking antibiotics and birth control at the same time condoms should always be a backup method, women are very fertile soon after delivery I gave birth to my baby on New Years and that was only 11 weeks ago and I'm already pregnant

How are you dealing with it? Did you want this to happen. I am emotional about this but hopeful that this is a fluke and I will be fine
